Chapter 1060
This Time, I Will Get My Divorce, Mr
Chapter 1060 Soniaâs Query
A flicker shone in Tobyâs eyes as he remained silent and so did Sonia. Pin-drop silence filled the conference room.
A moment later, Charles was being all jumpy due to frustration. âI guessed it right, didnât I? The culprit is your pursuer! The criticisms and grievance Soniaâs suffering is all because of you, Toby. This is already the second time. Anyaâs first and now another one. Is there going to be a third one? Huh?â he bellowed.
Toby frowned and rose to his feet. âIt is true that everything happened because of me. Iâll put things right for Little Leaf.â
âHmph. What for?â Charles sneered, âKeep a count on your pursuers. After itâs settled this time round, thereâs gonna be another one showing up in future. Are you going to let Sonia suffer every single time? If Iâd known this would happen, I wouldâve stopped her from reconciling with you. Youâre too much trouble to handle.â
Tobyâs pupils shrank as his murderous gaze fixated upon Charles. âWhat did you say? Trouble?â
âAm I wrong?â Charles met his eyes fearlessly. âToby Fuller, ask yourself. Are you related to every danger sheâs in and threats she receives until today? Oh, bar oneâJessica Reed. Other than her, do you dare to claim that others are none of your business? Tina Gray; the Gray Family; the Salzburg Family; and now, your pursuer. If this continues, Sonia might lose her life someday because of you!â
Toby clenched his fists as he could not refute. Indeed, all of the predicaments cast upon Soniaâbesides Jessicaâs incidentâwere related to him. It was not an exaggeration to say that he was the cause for everything. Toby had evidently caused many troubles to Sonia.
âSonia.â He closed his eyes before staring at her. âDo you think the same too? That Iâve caused you trouble?â
Although he knew very well himself that he had brought her a lot of problems, he cared more about her stance. If she shared the same notion, heâ¦
No. No matter what she thinks, Iâll never break up with her and Iâll not let her leave my side. She belongs to me for this lifetime; and the next one; and for eternity!
His eyes flickered a fleeting glint of red glow.
âNo.â She finally looked at him in the eyes while shaking her head lightly. âTheyâre related to you, but so am I. We canât generalize that youâre the cause for their actions since you canât control them. Donât overthink it.â
His tight fists loosened up a little, yet Charles was displeased. âSonia, why are you taking on his side when things are already out of control?â
âCharles, Iâm not taking his side. This is the fact and itâs not completely on him.â She sighed.
Charles snorted. Since he was unable to receive communion from her, he reckoned it was best to pick on Toby.
âAlthough she said so, donât get full of yourself. No matter what, youâre the one to blame for everything that has happened. Itâs your pursuer that brings the hate train to Sonia. So, if you donât work it out, Iâll never agree to anything,â warned Charles as he pointed a finger at Toby.
In a same frosty voice, Toby reciprocated, âYouâre telling me.â
Then, he looked at her. âCharles mentioned a test for me. What was that?â
Charles focused his eyes on her and awaited her answer as he was equally curious. Facing the menâs gaze, she knew it was redundant to keep it a secret and sighed.
âBefore this, I have a few questions for you.â Soniaâs gaze landed upon Toby.
His eyes glinted in surprise, but it faded the next second. Regaining his composure, he nodded lightly. âGo ahead. Iâll tell you everything I know.â
âGood.â She feigned a smile.
Meanwhile, Charles shuddered as he sensed something was wrong with her. If he was aware of it, Toby should have caught the whiff of it as well. It was then Tobyâs gaze displayed a doubtful glint.
âBefore we ended the video call this morning, you said you were going to meet your teacher, right?â She lowered her gaze to stare at her red nails.
He nodded.
She continued, âWhat kind of person is he like?â
âWhy do you ask?â His eyes narrowed.
She smiled in response as the expression remained insincere. âYou just have to answer me.â
After gazing at her for a while, he replied, âHe is a knowledgeable person, especially in economics. Although he no longer catches up with its fast development, heâs the first one who taught me everything I know. I respect him a lot.â
âYou hold high regards for him.â
âIn a way, yes,â responded Toby succinctly.
As long as Harry did not preach on him by exerting his superiority and seniority, he would always own Tobyâs respect. Still, Sonia was oblivious of that fact. The only thing she knew was Toby had admitted that Harry carried a lot of importance to him.
âWhat kind of person is he?â she questioned again.
Charles alternated his gaze between her and Toby before he voiced out his curiosity, âSonia, what does his teacher have to do with your test? Why are you asking this all of the sudden?â
Toby wanted to know her reason as well.
However, neither did she answer nor spare a glance at Charles. Her eyes zeroed in on Toby. âAnswer me. What kind of person is he?â
âWhatâs the matter?â Toby felt that she was behaving stranger than he thought.
She took a deep breath in an attempt to smother the bubbling frustration in her before repeating herself. âAnswer me and stop the questions. I really want to know.â
Now that things had turned out this way, he would be an idiot if he failed to realize that there was something bugging in her mind.
âOkay. Iâm not sure why you wanna know about him, but Iâll tell you if you wanna know.â He finally gave in. âHeâs a nice and patient person. He loves and cares for his juniors, but this is my impression of him a few years ago. Iâm not sure about him right now since he has changed so much.â
Harryâs dislike toward Sonia was obvious today. Whenever she was mentioned, not a tad of gentleness appeared on his face and his temper wore thin. He did not even bother to listen to Tobyâs refutes and almost fainted due to asthma.
It was Tobyâs first time seeing his teacher behaving in such a manner. Anyway, there was one thing he was sure ofâHarry was very different from before.
âA few years ago?â Sonia pursed her lips. âDo you mean that itâs been years since you last met?â
He hummed. âHis granddaughter pursued her studies abroad and he left the country for treatment, so he had been living abroad. It hasnât been long since he returned back to the country.â
She bit her lip. âSeems like you donât know your teacher that well.â
âMaybe.â He nodded and questioned back, âCan you tell me the reason now for asking these questions?â
âThereâs no need for the rush.â She shook her head. âIâm not done with my questions yet. What do you think of his granddaughter?â
