Odie showed up out of nowhere, saying puzzling things that made Bea's heart race uncontrollably. Sophie, watching from a distance, was just as perplexed.

Marian turned to a woman nearby, “Mrs. Costello, I’ll go greet the guests over there.”

Sophie nodded.

Once Marian left, Sophie put on her mask and deliberately walked to a spot where Odie could easily see her.

Sure enough, Odie spotted Sophie in the crowd and said to Jonah, “Jonah, we've made our point. It's time to go.”

“Yes, boss.”

Odie turned to leave without even a goodbye to Bea. Bea's eyelid twitched; she had a feeling Odie's visit didn't bode well.

She looked like she was here for a casual stroll.

Odie asked, “What do you want?”

“Mr. Odie, do you know Nichole?”

“Never met her.”

“Then why are you here?”

Such an unusual situation surely hinted at something odd. Odie wouldn’t waste his time coming to Nichole’s funeral without a reason.

“What’s it to you?”

Odie shot Sophie a glance and retorted, “Aren't you here to stir things up?”

Sophie asked, “Are you here for James?”

Seeing neither of them planned to be straightforward, Sophie seriously proposed, “Alright, let’s be honest with each other, no secrets, how about it?”

“Deal.”

Sophie insisted, “You first!”

Odie responded, “The Mintons and Burke International have had dealings for a while. Honestly, I have some personal business with James, but I can't disclose the details. He went back home and disappeared on me, so I came to the funeral hoping to see him and clear some things up.”

Just as Sophie was about to dig deeper, Odie immediately interrupted, “Stop right there, I know what you’re going to ask, but I told you, I can't share the details.”

“Now it’s your turn, why are you looking for James?”

Sophie, putting on her best serious face, said, “Well, I missed him. I came hoping to see him too.”

“What? You missed him? Does Colby know about this?”
