Chapter 765
Revenge is Best Served After Reborn (James)
âHarsh? Anyone who can be bought once can be bought twice. I made it through this time, but what about next?â Odie said icily. âThis isnât your quiet and peaceful Devonport. You wonât find many kind-hearted folks like you here.â
Sophie fell quiet at his words. This place was nothing like Devonport. Such blatant unfairness and crime would never happen there.
âSo, Mr. Odie, since you know Leticia was behind the attack, what are you gonna do to her?â Sophie asked.
âLeticia has her uses. Iâm not planning to punish her,â Odie replied nonchalantly. âYou donât need to worry about it. Go get some rest.â
Odie wasnât interested in explaining further, so Sophie had no choice but to head upstairs.
Suddenly, as if remembering something, Odie said, âOh, right. I had Jonah print out that document. You have one night to memorize it and recite it to me.â
âOdie, are you serious? You tell me to rest, and now you want me to stay up all night memorizing documents?â
âSo, will you do it or not?â
â...Fine! Iâll do it!â
Sophie wasnât about to ignore the valuable information she had from Odie.
With only two days left until her meeting with Colby, she had to memorize all the information. It could come in handy later.
Thinking this, Sophie went upstairs. As she entered her room, she saw Polly frantically taking pictures of the document with a tiny camera.
âWhat are you doing?â Sophie asked sharply.
Polly jumped, clearly startled. âI- I wasnât doing anything.â
She stammered and then bolted from the room in a panic.
Sophie walked in and was about to look at the document when she heard a commotion downstairs.
âMove aside! I need to see Mr. Odie!â
The voice sounded familiar. Sophie listened closer and realized it was Ricardo!
Ricardo had actually come to Summerfield? Sophie frowned and cracked her door open to listen.

âHow much do you need?â
âAt least three hundred billion!â
âThree hundred billion? Are you out of your mind?â
Hearing the figure, Sophie couldnât help but smirk slightly. It looked like Bookerâs plan was working. Ricardo was realizing he couldnât repay the loan he owed her.
âI got played by Blake from S Corporation. To bounce back, I need at least three hundred billion. Odie, I was the one who told you about the Devonport treasure. You havenât forgotten what you promised me, right?â
âOf course not.â
Sophie wanted to listen more closely, but the conversation stopped, likely continuing in Odieâs study.
If Odie lent Ricardo that three hundred billion, her and Bookerâs plan would be ruined.
No, she had to find a way to stop Odie from lending the money to Ricardo. At least she needed to buy some time.
But how?
After thinking hard, Sophie suddenly had an idea. âGot it!â
Moments later, a maid ran into the study, frantic. âMr. Odie! Ms. Sophie has fainted!â
