Chapter 1894
Revenge is Best Served After Reborn (James)
"I..."
"I've still got work to finish."
Rick cut Sophie off before she could say anything, pulling out his laptop and diving into work.
Sophie could only sit in the backseat, lost in her thoughts.
What was up with her brother all of a sudden?
Why did he want her to switch shifts with Harold?
Before long, they reached the Aldridge Estate.
Harold hopped out of the car and dashed towards the estate.
The maid at the entrance couldn't catch up to him.
"Mr. Harold! Mr. Harold, the master is still in a meeting!"
Bangâ
The study door swung open.
Harold took in the room full of company execs and cut straight to the chase, "Bro, whatâs going on?"
All the executives turned their eyes to Gordon.
Gordon calmly said, "You can all leave now."
"Yes, sir."
The executives made their way out of Gordon's study in an orderly line.
Harold said, "You know we're just having a little spat. Why the sudden shift change?"
"Why so worked up?"
Gordon leaned back in his chair, a slight smile playing on his lips. "Didn't you say you didnât want to go to school with Sophie anymore?"
"I..."
"The maid mentioned you didnât wake her up this morning, and you left without having breakfast with her. The driver also said you two didnât exchange a word in the car. I figured you werenât keen on going to school with her."
"Bro, itâs just a little argument..."
"What kind of argumentâs so intense?"
Gordon reclined in his chair, saying, "This is the first time in eighteen years."
"I..."
Harold hesitated, at a loss for words.
Gordon went on, "Until you sort out what you really want, don't come to me. Once you have clarity, then weâll talk."
With that, Gordon instructed the maid outside, "Please see Mr. Harold out."
"...Yes, sir."
Gordon's face remained impassive.
Once Harold was gone, Rick opened the door to the study again.
"Ms. Sophie has retreated to her room. She seems pretty down."
"Hmm."
"Sir, both of them look pretty unhappy. This time... maybe we pushed it too far."
"Did we?"
"Yes, sir."
Rick let out a quiet sigh.
This time, poor Harold was really in for it.
Back in his room, Harold was filled with an inexplicable agitation.
He lay on his bed, tossing and turning, unable to sleep, just feeling a heavy restlessness.
"Sir, would you like some dinner?"
"No!"
"Just leave it!"
Harold frowned, his mood souring even more.
Why was he feeling like this, exactly?
Was it just because he felt pressured by Sophie?
No.
He knew it wasnât that.
Some feelings were too complicated to put into words.
But his brother... his brother saw right through him.

Harold got up from his bed in frustration, his gaze unintentionally falling on a nearby photo.
It was a picture of him and Sophie when they were kids.
