Chapter 1856
Revenge is Best Served After Reborn (James)
When Harold asked his question, Colby did something unexpectedâhe cracked a rare smile.
Heâd moved on long ago, though remnants of the past still lingered in his mind.
âSo, how was it?â William asked eagerly, âAnd what about the visuals? Spill the details! What did you see? Did it really look like real life? Did you dream about the past?â
William fired off questions like a machine gun.
âIâll share my thoughts later. Right now, Iâve got more pressing matters.â
âMore pressing?â William blinked in surprise. âWhatâs more pressing than your wife?â
âGetting breakfast for her.â
And with that, Colby walked straight out of the lab.
âHey, donât go!â William called after him, trying to get him to stay.
But Colby didnât even glance back.
âTwenty years of hard work, and he canât even leave a review!â William muttered, staring at the half-empty potion bottle in his hand. He then shot a mischievous grin at Harold. âMr. Aldridge, want to give it a whirl?â
Harold shrugged, âNot interested.â
âCome on, donât leave! This stuffâs legit, even Colby liked it!â William insisted, giving Harold a serious look. âBeta testers get a free pass.â
Meanwhile, Colby returned home and found Sophie still wrapped in sleep. A soft smile crept onto his face.
Maybe in that dream, Sophie didnât love him. But that didnât matter.
Colby gently brushed his fingers across Sophieâs cheek.
As long as they were husband and wife, as long as their love endured, that was all that mattered.
That night, Colby drifted off holding her close.
âColby, I think I had a dream last night,â Sophie said, her eyes meeting his. âI dreamed of you as a kid.â
âOh?â
Colby chuckled and gently tapped Sophieâs nose. âMy wife, always up to mischief, even with the younger me.â
Sophie raised an eyebrow. âThatâs because you donât let me tease you anymore.â
âSo agreeable? Did you do something in the dream you feel guilty about?â Sophie teased.
âIf thereâs anything, itâs that I once let you slip away.â
âColby, it feels like ages since weâve gone out together.â
âYeah, ever since Fiona was born, we havenât had the chance.â
âI just had a brilliant idea.â
âOh?â
âYour suggestion of sending Fiona to stay with Adler and Jenna... I think itâs brilliant!â
Seeing Sophieâs determined eyes, Colby pretended to mull it over. âIt is a great idea.â

âRight now.â
And true to his word, that evening, Colby booked their tickets for a getaway abroad.
