Chapter 1839
Revenge is Best Served After Reborn (James)
The whole Isaac ordeal was finally behind them, so Adler and Jenna threw a little shindig back home to celebrate. But honestly, it was just an excuse to get everyone together, catch up, and swap stories.
Fiona and Alec were at the table, looking a bit bored while the adults indulged in a bit of nostalgic boasting about the good old days at the Aldridge Estate.
âRemember Colby in his prime?â Adler said, laying it on thick. âBack then, just his presence overseas was enough to make people quake in their boots! Can you believe heâs now a stay-at-home dad?â
Adler shook his head, chuckling, âTime sure has a way of changing things, doesnât it?â
Fiona leaned over to Alec, whispering, âWill your dad ever stop with the tall tales?â
Sheâd heard these stories so many times she could probably tell them in her sleep.
âOld folks and their stories. Just eat up,â Alec replied with a grin, adding more food to her plate.
Fiona kept muttering, âGriffin never has stories like that. He hardly says a word.â
âYeah, Griffinâs the quiet type, always has been...â
Not too far away, Griffin and Odie were sipping their drinks, catching bits of the kidsâ chatter, and exchanged amused glances.
These youngsters had no clue what things were like back in the day. If they did, they'd think twice before joking around.
âFiona, come here,â Odie called out.
Fiona dutifully made her way over, asking, âWhatâs my gift this time, Odie?â
âHow about a friendly pat on the back?â he joked.
â...â
Everyone was a bit tipsy by now. Odie nodded towards Colby, who was pouring water for Sophie, and asked, âWhatâs your take on your dad, Fiona?â
From Fionaâs perspective, not much had changed over the years. Sometimes, she thought her dad was just plain dull.
Odie and Griffin couldnât help but laugh hearing Fionaâs take on Colby. With the drinks flowing, they didnât hold back.
Whoâd have thought the once-daring Colby would be summed up by his daughter as just a handsome, ordinary guy?
