Chapter 1836
Revenge is Best Served After Reborn (James)
Whoever came up with the idea of morning weddings clearly wasn't a fan of sleep. Itâs just plain cruel.
"Right now, you should be more concerned about getting ready than wondering why weddings aren't held at night," Jenna urged.
Sophie had only wiped off her makeup five hours ago, and now she was back in the chair, as the makeup artist worked her magic.
It was Sophieâs big day, but it was Jenna who was buzzing with excitement. She was orchestrating the makeup and hair team like a pro and had even brought in some experts to help block the door.
Once everything was in place, Jenna started checking the sturdiness of Sophieâs bedroom door.
"Jenna, what are you up to?" Sophie asked, puzzled.
"You wouldnât get it. Iâm testing the door's strength. When Gordon comes to pick you up, Iâm not letting him just stroll in," Jenna explained.
Sophie frowned. "Jenna, Iâm getting married. If you keep Gordon out, how am I supposed to leave?" she protested.
"Uh... I just mean they shouldnât get in too easily!"
As Jenna peered outside to assess the situation, she spotted a shadowy figure and instinctively moved to close the door. But then Adlerâs voice came through: "Jenna! Itâs me!"
"You? Why are you only showing up now? I thought youâd be hanging with the groomsmen," Jenna said, opening the door.
Adler stood there, both hands carrying breakfast. "I figured you might not have eaten so early, so I brought your favorite breakfast. Thereâs also some for Ms. Sophie. Make sure to eat, because you and the bride wonât have time for a proper meal later."
"Iâm not worried. Gordon already made sure Sophie had treats this morning, and there's a special spread for her backstage. She wonât go hungry,"
Jenna replied, shaking her head, amused.
Men like Gordon are hard to come by these days.
"Oh, then no worries. Good thing I just got what you like. I'll keep you company," Adler said, unpacking the breakfast, revealing bagels and cream cheese, alongside some classic breakfast favorites.
As Jenna nibbled on a croissant, she asked, "Getting married is a huge deal. Did Gordon even propose?"

"And... you just said yes?"
"Well, the diamond was so big, I couldnât resist trying it on. It fit perfectly. Then Mr. Aldridge and Liz saw it, got all emotional, and before I knew it, the wedding date was set."
"..."
Jenna listened, envisioning Sophie as a young girl being charmed and swept away.
Could Gordon have been any more subtle with his proposal?
With the date already set, Jenna kept her thoughts to herself. "Sophie, always think things through first. Next time someone like Gordon comes along, keep an eye out. You never know what they might be up to. You donât want to end up counting cash for someone who sold you off!"
"He wouldnât. My brother would never do that," Sophie assured confidently.
