Chapter 1786
Revenge is Best Served After Reborn (James)
âReally? It seems like it.â
âFiona, youâre going to be the death of me.â
Alec was at a loss for words to describe Fiona's carefree nature.
He said, âYou should have at least thought to check out the nearby convenience stores around the school first.â
âOh, thatâs a great idea!â
Fiona grabbed Alecâs arm and dragged him towards the convenience store.
Alec, with no choice, followed right behind her.
In no time, they found themselves at the entrance of the store.
The shopkeeper was busy handing out items from behind the glass counter to a stream of students.
One particular snack, wrapped in an elegant package with various colors, caught Fionaâs eye. It was called âDream Drops.â
The tagline read: âWant to ace your exams? Eat Dream Drops.â
âShopkeeper, give us two packs! I want the pink one!â
Fiona was instantly drawn to the pink packaging.
Alec cast an incredulous glance at Fiona beside him.
âPink?â
Alec was almost amused by her pickiness. âSeriously, you even have a preference?â
âSorry, weâre out of pink, but boys usually prefer the blue,â the shopkeeper said, placing two packs of the blue-wrapped snacks in front of Fiona and Alec.
âThat'll be fifty altogether.â
âTwenty-five per pack? Thatâs so pricey! What are these candies made of?â
Fiona was surprised.
You couldnât find candy for twenty-five dollars a pack anywhere else in the city.
And they werenât even a brand name.
âWe buy them for twenty, and twenty-five is already cheap. If you don't want them, there are plenty of others who do. Donât waste my time,â the shopkeeper retorted.
After all, the students at Seabay High School were all from wealthy families, and the shopkeeper was used to catering to them.
If someone couldnât afford twenty-five dollars, they probably didnât belong to a wealthy family.
Fiona was about to argue further, but Alec had already tossed a hundred-dollar bill on the counter, saying, âFour packs, letâs take them and go.â
Seeing the money, the shopkeeper politely handed over four packs.
Business was business, and paying customers were always welcome.
As Fiona followed Alec out of the store, she grumbled, âWhy did you pay him? Couldn't we just take them?â
âAnd how would we keep investigating after that?â
âWhatâs your plan?â
âIn a moment, Iâll collapse. You get it?â
With years of camaraderie between them, Fiona immediately understood Alecâs plan.
In just a short while, Alec fell to the ground and began to convulse.
Fiona quickly shouted at the store entrance, âHelp! The shopkeeperâs candy is dangerous!â
Her voice was loud, drawing the attention of many students, and a few who had tasted the candy spat it out in panic.
âYou little brat! Donât spread lies! Plenty of people have eaten my candy, and nothing happened to them! Youâre just trying to scam me!â
The shopkeeper ran out in a fluster.
Fiona urgently replied, âIt was your product that did this! Your dodgy products are to blame! Iâm calling the police right now!â
