Chapter 1734
Revenge is Best Served After Reborn (James)
Colby gently laid the blanket over Sophie and watched her sleep, his mind wandering. With Jenna and Adler having a baby, he wondered if Sophie secretly wanted one too but hadnât mentioned it. Sophie was twenty-six now. He'd talked to plenty of doctors who all said having kids earlier was easier on the body. He worried that waiting might not be good for her health.
âColby, are we there yet?â Sophie mumbled, half-awake, eyes fluttering open.
Colby chuckled softly, âNot yet, but Iâll wake you when we are.â
Sophie murmured something in agreement and drifted back to sleep. The past couple of years had been tough on her, working hard despite supposedly taking a break to relax. Colby tenderly brushed a strand of hair from her face, and she instinctively nestled closer to him.
Outside, the sky was painted with the colors of dusk. As they got off the plane, the sunset welcomed them. Sophie felt a rare peace and beauty she hadnât felt in ages. Work had often kept her from noticing such stunning sights. Now, she could finally enjoy the worldâs wonders again.
On the beach, Colby wheeled their luggage as Sophie admired the ocean and the setting sun, a gentle smile lighting up her face.
âColby, are we really going to stay here for six months?â she asked.
âYep,â Colby replied, his eyes never leaving her. âIt might be a bit dull though,â he added with a grin.
âWoof! Woof!â Dawn, their dog, barked happily, clearly loving the beach and ready to run wild. Sophie patted Dawnâs head, âGo ahead!â
âWoof!â Dawn bounded joyfully across the sand.
âHow could I ever find such peaceful days boring?â Sophie threw herself into Colbyâs arms, snuggling her head against his chest. âThis is the life Iâve always dreamed of...â
Being with her favorite person and living carefree, joyous days. Sophie looked out at the horizon and shouted, releasing the stress of the past years.
Seeing Sophie act like a carefree child made Colby smile too. He wrapped his arms around her from behind and whispered, âSophie, letâs have a baby.â
Sophie turned, noticing Colbyâs ears turning a bit red. âA baby...,â she said playfully, pretending to think it over. âIâm not so sure!â
Colby paused, looking puzzled. Sophie continued, âI heard giving birth is really painful, and Iâm not good with pain.â
âReally painful?â he asked.
âYeah!â she nodded.

Sophie couldnât help but burst out laughing at his earnest face. âIâm just messing with you!â she said. âThere are pain-free options these days, and with modern technology, itâs not so bad. Most importantly... I want to have a child with you.â
With that, Sophie gave Colby a quick peck on the cheek. She realized too late that she still had makeup on, leaving a lipstick mark on his face.
Seeing it, she quickly grabbed a tissue, âOops, let me get that.â
Before she could clean it, Colby gently caught her hand with the tissue, grinning as he tapped his lips and softly said, âBabe, if weâre having a baby, youâve got to kiss me here instead.â
