Reece handed Sophie a black invitation. “They left this at the hotel entrance. It’s got to be the mark of The Silent Shadows you were checking out.”

Reece said, “This is probably their internal site. When I logged in, there were only “yes’ or “no’ options. I hit “no.’”

Sophie frowned.

Reece just chuckled. “You think joining The Silent Shadows is a breeze? If I’d said “yes,’ that would be the real nightmare.”

“But you're not exactly in great shape now.”

Sophie said in all seriousness, “The Silent Shadows will ruin anyone they can't control. They’re already spreading rumors that you’re involved in shady deals overseas. Do you know how much trouble you'd be in if they nabbed you for that? You'd be in prison forever.”

“I know, but I'm not scared. After all, I've got you in my corner.”

Reece gave a slight smile, gently patting Sophie's hand, “Don’t look so worried. I’m alright now, aren’t I?”
