Chapter 1537
Revenge is Best Served After Reborn (James)
The bodyguard looked visibly troubled, as he had strict orders from Kiran not to leave Sandyâs side.
âHey, he's just doing his job, cut him some slack,â Sophie said, not waiting for Sandy to respond. She continued, âBut with just us ladies in the house, it might be a bit awkward for him to stay here. Why not crash in the greenhouse out back? Itâs warm enough, and with your mistress safe with me, sheâs not going anywhere.â
âThis...â The bodyguard hesitated, unsure of what to do.
Sandy piped up, âDidnât you hear Sophie? Quit hovering around or Iâll tell my brother to take drastic actions!â
Sandy's fierce expression left no room for argument. The bodyguard, not wanting to make things worse with Kiran, nodded reluctantly. âYes, Miss.â
Winter had settled in Summerfield, and while the light snow wasnât freezing, it wasnât cozy either. The greenhouse had heating, making it warmer than the house, but it lacked a bed, only having chairs. It was shaping up to be a rough night for the bodyguard.
Inside the villa, Sandy anxiously asked, âDid Colby really betray you?â
âI donât know, maybe,â Sophie replied. âIf heâs lied to me once, who knows what else heâs capable of?â
âSo... are you really going through with the divorce?â Sandy had thought it was just a spat, but hearing Sophie, she realized it might be serious.
Sophie's eyes fell on Sandy's suitcase, âHow many days did Kiran let you stay in Summerfield this time?â
âOne day,â Sandy replied, a hint of sadness in her eyes. Though she made the trip, she couldnât stay long.
âJust a day and youâve brought all this?â Sophie asked.
âMy brother packed it all, worried I wouldnât be comfortable with the stuff here,â Sandy explained. She opened her suitcase, âI checked everything before comingâno bugs or hidden cameras.â
Sophie was taken aback. She remembered when Sandy was just a spoiled heiress. Somehow, sheâd picked up on these precautionary skills.
âWhy are you looking at me like that?â Sandy asked, taking Sophie's hand. âWeâve been through thick and thin together. Iâd never betray you. Even if my brother sent me here to dig for information, I wonât let him harm you.â
Sandyâs sincerity was clear.
Sophie smiled softly, âYou were cuter when you were a bit bratty.â

Sophie chuckled, âIâm sure that day is just around the corner.â
Suddenly, Sophie's phone rang. Tricia's name flashed on the screen. On the other end, Triciaâs voice was urgent, âMs. Sophie, when can you get back? The company needs you to come and sort things out.â
