Chapter 1444
Revenge is Best Served After Reborn (James)
Colby gave Sophie a gentle tap on the forehead and said, "Next time something like this happens, tell me right away. I've got ways to get blood."
"Get blood? How exactly are you planning to do that?"
Sophie, noticing Colbyâs silence, pressed on, "Colby, most blood banks are well-stocked, but that's for saving lives. I donât care how you handled it before, but from now on, we canât do that. Itâs like snatching someone elseâs chance at life. After everything that's happened, I believe in karma. I donât want us facing the consequences someday."
"Alright," Colby nodded. "I wonât buy blood from others. Iâll pay people to donate instead. Is that better?"
"Silly," Sophie chuckled, leaning into Colbyâs arms. "I am feeling a bit worn out today. Letâs head to the hospital and check on Odie. He's awake now, so we can find out what went down."
"Sounds good," Colby agreed, steering the car with one hand while holding Sophieâs hand tightly with the other. Sophie felt her hand wrapped snugly in Colbyâs, a touch that grew warmer by the moment.
At the hospital, Odie was propped up in his hospital bed when Sophie and Colby arrived. The night had already fallen. The Costello family's bodyguards stood vigilant at the door, not budging an inch.
Colby asked, "Notice anything suspicious?"
"Everything's normal, sir."
"Got it."
Colby and Sophie stepped inside the room. Seeing Odie in the hospital bed, Colby said, "Iâve dealt with the folks who messed with you, even if it meant wrecking a casino. You can handle the rest."
Odie wasnât concerned with casinos anymore. Although he used to love gambling, he found those high-stakes games increasingly dull.
"Mr. Odie, now that youâre safe, shouldnât you tell us why The Silent Shadows grabbed you?"
Odie frowned when he realized Sophie knew about The Silent Shadows. "Where did you hear about them?"
"From Colt, who was with Joseph."
"He talked to you?"

Sophie quipped, "I have my ways of making him talk. But Mr. Odie, Iâm genuinely curious about how you got snatched up overseas and ended up in this state."
"You think youâre the only ones digging into The Silent Shadows? Ever since that incident at the Pearl Hotel in Summerfield, I've been on their trail, just without letting you know."
Realizing Odie had been onto The Silent Shadows early on, Sophie laughed in exasperation. "Mr. Odie, youâve really kept this under wraps. Knowing about The Silent Shadows so soon, why didnât you say anything before?"
Odie shrugged nonchalantly, "That was my business, not yours."
"You..."
Sophie glanced at Odieâs injuries but eventually cooled off and said, "Considering how badly youâre hurt, Iâll let it slide. They mustâve tortured you because you know something they want or you have something theyâre after. Did you find something The Silent Shadows are looking for when you went back to Summerfield recently?"
