Chapter 1394
Revenge is Best Served After Reborn (James)
Soon enough, Gordon gathered his thoughts, stood up, and got himself ready before opening his bedroom door.
Harold, waiting outside, was taken aback. It was his first time seeing his brother with such a peculiar expression. Everything seemed perfectly normal during the day. How did things change so drastically by evening?
âHey, bro, you okay?â Harold asked hesitantly.
âYeah, Iâm fine,â Gordon replied, reaching out as if to ruffle Haroldâs hair, but settled for a reassuring pat on the shoulder. âCome on, Harold, letâs head downstairs.â
Harold couldnât quite shake the feeling that something was off with his brother tonight.
Down in the banquet hall, Sophieâs high school friends were in full swing, celebrating her birthday with endless snapshots. After the photos, Andrew proudly paraded Sophie around to greet their close friends, almost as if he wanted to announce to the world that his beautiful daughter was now all grown up.
Watching this unfold, Gordon couldnât help but smile tenderly.
âHey, big brother!â Sophie called out, her eyes locking onto Gordon from across the room. Somehow, she always spotted him first, no matter the crowd.
âHey, donât run off!â Jenna called out anxiously, as Sophie, struggling with her dress, made her way over to Gordon in small, careful steps.
âDo I look good today, brother?â Sophie asked with a grin.
âYou look stunning,â Gordon assured her.
âWhy are you so late? Itâs my big day!â Sophie pouted, adding, âAnd whereâs my birthday present? I know you must have something for me.â
Gordon studied her for a moment before chuckling, âYou'll get it once the partyâs over.â
Sophie picked up on a different vibe from Gordon, while Harold teased, âWho demands their gift right away? You're gonna scare people off!â
âAnd you!â Sophie retorted. âYou got me a motorbike for my birthday! Do you even know what girls like?â
âWhatâs wrong with a motorbike? Itâs pink! Itâs cool, right? If you donât want it, hand it back!â
âIn your dreams!â Sophie shot back. âIâd rather let it gather dust in the garage than give it back to you!â

âBig brother, you decide! Isnât Haroldâs gift just terrible?â Sophie pleaded.
âBro, youâre with me on this, right? Motorbikes are cool, arenât they?â Harold countered.
Caught in the middle, Gordon just smiled and gently tousled Sophieâs hair. âIf youâre not into the motorbike, Iâll get you something else next timeâa sports car, a sedan, maybe even an RV. Whatever you fancy.â
Harold chimed in, âForget it, bro. Sophieâs too timid to drive far. Sheâd end up calling for help on the highway. So embarrassing.â
âAnd yet you still got me a motorbike, Harold! You did that on purpose!â Sophie accused with a playful glare.
Just as Harold was about to defend himself, a voice rang out, âSorry Iâm late! Really, really sorry!â
Adler rushed in, juggling two big bags. Jenna gave him a playful smack on the back of the head. âWhy so late?â
Adler, catching his breath, explained, âI barely made it to your favorite bakery before it closed. Got your favorite lemon cheesecake! Itâs delicious!â
