Hearing this, Joseph nodded. “The head of the Aldridge family is known for his crafty plans. He could definitely pull off something like this.”

James turned to Harold, “Mr. Aldridge, when you were with the family, did you ever hear anything about where the treasure might be?”

“I have no idea,” Harold said coolly. “My brother’s always been in charge. If I needed to know something, he’d tell me. If not, he wouldn’t say a word.”

James shrugged, “Well, then, we’ll just have to search the place. Mr. Aldridge, you don’t mind, do you?”

“Go ahead,” Harold replied without hesitation. Joseph gestured, and his men began scouring the Burke Estate.

Settling into a plush sofa in the grand hall, Joseph remarked, “I’ve always heard about the vast gardens and endless rooms of the Aldridge estate. At this pace, who knows if we’ll find anything by noon?”
