Chapter 1378
Revenge is Best Served After Reborn (James)
In Joseph's mind, Ruby had no interest in patching things up with him. As for himself, he had long given up on the dream of a picture-perfect family.
He was used to flying solo, and even if everything around him crumbled and was rebuilt, heâd still be the same. No amount of regret on Joseph's part would mend this broken home.
James, with a touch of indifference, said, âLet's keep these conversations for after we've pulled it off.â He left the study, finding the hall filled with the people heâd gathered.
Harold stood there, glancing up at James, âEveryoneâs ready. When do we head out?â
âWhenever you are.â
James added, âBut... youâre not coming along.â
Harold's eyebrows knitted together, âWhat do you mean by that?â
âIt's just my dad and me going in. I'm counting on you to stand guard outside, Mr. Aldridge.â
Harold wasnât thrilled with this setup. With a cold edge to his voice, he said, âWithout me, you wouldnât even know where the Aldridge family hid the treasure. Now youâre leaving me out? Planning to keep it all to yourself?â
âNot at all. What James is saying is that keeping watch outside is crucial, and you're the best man for the job. Donât worry, once we find the Devonport treasure, youâll get your due.â
Joseph moved closer to Harold, giving his shoulder a reassuring pat. âI know you don't want to be forever tagged as the underachieving playboy in your brother's shadow. Once we snag the treasure, you can step up as the new leader of the Aldridge family. Who would dare look down on you then?â
Joseph's words seemed to sway Harold, who nodded, âAlright, but I want it in writing. You promised me fifty percent, not a cent less.â
âFair enough.â
With a slight smile, Joseph glanced over at James, âIs Kiran here yet?â
âMissing me already?â came a voice from the hall.
Kiran strolled in, and the sight of him brought a broad smile to Josephâs face. âI knew you wouldnât miss out on this.â
âHow could I?â Kiran replied, âJoseph, remember my fifty percent.â

ï¤Chapter 782 Hearing that Kiran also had a claim to fifty percent, Haroldâs frown deepened, âYou too? Joseph, whatâs the deal?â
âThis Devonport treasure doesnât really tempt me; Iâve got plenty of cash. Iâm just curious to see what all the fuss is about. Iâll hand over any gold and silver without keeping a dime.â
Harold was taken aback by Josephâs declaration. If Joseph didnât want the treasure, then why all the fuss? What was his true motive?
âJames, itâs go time.â
With that, Joseph led the charge towards Burke Estate. The Aldridge family was off attending Sophie's funeral, leaving Burke Estate completely deserted.
When Joseph, James, and their crew arrived, they found the place abandoned, not a soul in sight.
Joseph frowned, âColt, take some guys and have a look around. Letâs see what's up.â
Colt nodded, âGot it.â
