Chapter 1321
Revenge is Best Served After Reborn (James)
The attic on the third floor was like a whole new world. Sophie stood at the door, blinking in disbelief. It was nothing like what sheâd seen the night before. The door was old, sure, but it wasnât the same door, nor was the lock.
Sophie stepped closer, recalling vividly how sheâd taken a hammer and smashed the door to bits. So how could there be no trace left?
Odie, watching the scene unfold, couldn't help but furrow his brows. He knew what Gordon was capable of, but resetting and rebuilding everything in a single night? That was beyond expectations.
âNo way...â Sophie muttered, staring in shock. She tried to open the door, but Odie, standing behind her, caught her hand. âI told you it was just a dream, didnât I? But no, you wouldnât listen. Now look at you, losing it all over again.â
Despite his frown, Odie met Sophie's gaze, and her eyes were filled with a seriousness he hadn't seen before. âIâm not crazy, Odie. It wasnât a dream.â
Her words struck a chord, and Odie found himself at a loss for anything harsh to say. He released her hand, glanced away, and added, âEven if you want to have a peek, you should ask the owner first. Isnât barging into someoneâs attic a bit rude?â
Odieâs reminder snapped Sophie back to reality. The house belonged to Gordon. Heâd know the ins and outs of this place, and surely, what was hidden in the attic.
With that realization, Sophie stumbled down the stairs. Odie watched her, nearly tripping several times. He wanted to reach out, but his hand stalled mid-air. Eventually, he pulled it back, thinking, âStubborn and reckless! Sheâs just asking for trouble!â Yet, despite his thoughts, he found himself following her downstairs.
On the second floor, Sophie stopped outside Gordon's room. Her hand was raised, but, like yesterday, it hung there, suspended as if held by an invisible string.
âMs. Sophie.â Rickâs gentle voice floated to her from behind.
âRick, is Mr. Gordon awake?â Sophie asked, hope flickering in her eyes.
Rick shook his head, and the light in her eyes dimmed. Odie, arriving from upstairs, saw this and fell silent.
âMs. Sophie, is there something you need from Mr. Gordon? I can pass a message,â Rick offered.
âI... I need the key to the attic on the third floor.â

ï¤Chapter 782 Knowing Rick was the head butler with all the keys, Sophie realized getting into the attic was just a matter of speaking to him. Rick, however, feigned a look of difficulty. âThat atticâs full of old, dusty relics. I might need some time to find the key.â
âHow long will it take?â Sophie pressed.
âNot too long, probably by noon,â Rick replied. âMs. Sophie, you could wait a bit. As soon as I find the key, Iâll give it to you.â
âAlright,â Sophie agreed, feeling a wave of relief wash over her. The exhaustion she had been keeping at bay finally caught up, enveloping her entirely.
