Chapter 1248
Revenge is Best Served After Reborn (James)
Standing outside the door was Harold.
When Sophie opened the door, Harold frowned slightly and asked, âWhy are you here?â
âI came to check on Mr. Gordon.â Sophie frowned back. âIs it so weird that I want to see him?â
Harold pursed his lips. âHowâs my brother doing?â
âNot well, heâs been coughing a lot.â
Sophie shook her head helplessly. âI wonât keep you, Iâll head out.â
Sophie hurried out, and just then, Rick called out, âMs. Sophie, I think you left something behind.â
âOh right, the S Corporation reports Tricia brought me today. I totally forgot.â
She walked over to the desk, retrieved the documents, and quickly left the room.
Harold finally stepped inside, making sure to close the door behind him.
As the door clicked shut, Sophie paused. Why did Mr. Gordon insist on keeping his fake illness a secret from Harold?
âHey!â
Sophie jumped, spinning around to see Sandy standing behind her.
âWhatâs got you so deep in thought?â Sandy asked, puzzled.
Sophie took a deep breath. âMs. Sandy, do you need something?â
âNot really, just bored. Havenât seen you guys around much lately,â Sandy muttered. âYouâre not in trouble, are you? I called my dad! He'll sort everything out in three days, no worries!â
Sophie looked stunned. âSeriously?â
âOf course! My dad wouldnât lie to me! It took a lot of convincing, but he finally agreed.â
Sandy confidently patted her chest.

âHe said, âMy darling daughter, of course, your dad will fix it!ââ
Sophie sighed. âIs there a chance, just maybe... that Caelum is just humoring you?â
âNo way! My dad always spoils me. Heâs the best, and he can handle this easily without needing to humor me!â
Sandy grinned smugly. âJust wait and see, in three days, James, the new CEO of the Mintons, theyâre all going down!â
âMs. Sandy, actually...â
âSophie, Iâve done you such a big favor, shouldnât you spend a few days entertaining me? I donât know a single socialite in London. Help me set up some gatherings, take me to dinners or fashion and jewelry events?â
Sandyâs eyes sparkled with excitement at the mention of dinners.
She had been bored stiff during her time in Devonport.
Before Sophie could respond, Colby, who appeared out of nowhere, chimed in, âGo on, take a break.â
Sophie shook her head. âColby, why are you encouraging this?â
It was a critical time; Jenna and Adler were buried in work. How could she relax?
âJust check it out.â
Colby handed an invitation to Sophie. âPerfect timing, the new CEO of the Mintons has just made an appearance.â
