She handed him ten percent of the company shares. “I spent all my savings buying these shares from that woman, Sophie. Keep them close, because now you’re the largest shareholder of Burke International. No one can topple you from your position anymore.”

James looked at the shares in his hands and let out a sardonic chuckle.

Bea had held onto these shares for most of her life, never once thinking to pass them on to him. And now, she handed them over so easily.

Things must have been tough for her lately.

James’s voice turned cold. “Don’t worry, Grandma. I won’t give them any chance to escape. Colby will die, and Sophie... she won’t be spared either.”

Bea was stunned. “What?”

“What? Weren’t you the one who wanted Sophie dead so badly you even hired someone to do it?”

James shot Bea a puzzled look.

Bea forced a smile. “It’s true I wanted her dead, but you...”
