Chapter 1213
Revenge is Best Served After Reborn (James)
Adler floored it all the way to Burke International.
The security guards at the entrance recognized Sophie and Adler and immediately tried to block their way.
âMs. Sophie! Mr. Adler! You can't come in!â
âIf you donât want any trouble, move!â Adler shouted, slamming the accelerator. The guards scrambled out of the way as Adlerâs car crashed through the gates, the sound of shattering glass echoing through the air.
âSophie! You go ahead! Iâll cover you!â
âGot it!â Sophie replied, jumping out of the car and storming towards the building. The guards, initially poised to stop her, were paralyzed by her sheer determination.
Sophie took the CEOâs private elevator straight to the conference room floor. Stepping out, she found the room deserted, save for James.
It had been a while since Sophie had seen him. James sat there, calm and collected, closing his laptop. Colt stood by his side, everything reminiscent of the old days in Devonport, where James ruled the business world unchallenged.
âJames, donât you think you owe me an explanation?â Sophie demanded.
James glanced at her, his expression cold. âMrs. Costello, youâre too late.â
Colt chimed in, âMs. Sophie, the shareholdersâ meeting just concluded. Mr. Burke was unanimously re-elected as CEO. Since Mr. Odie didnât show, he forfeited his vote.â
Ignoring Colt, Sophie zeroed in on James. âDo you have Odieâs 45% shares?â
âYes,â James responded coolly, holding up the share transfer agreement. âThey were mine to begin with.â
âSo, Odieâs trouble, was that your doing?â Sophie pressed.
James barely lifted his gaze. âMrs. Costello, I donât know what youâre talking about.â
âIs it that you donât know, or you just wonât admit it?â Sophie challenged.
She had hoped James would own up to it. If he had, she might have believed it wasnât really him behind it all, that someone else was pulling the strings. But James didnât admit anything.

ï¤Chapter 782 âI genuinely donât know what youâre talking about. What does Odieâs trouble have to do with me?â Jamesâs tone was icy. âMrs. Costello, if you came for the shareholdersâ meeting, fine. But itâs over now. Instead of questioning me, why donât we talk business?â
âBusiness? What business is there left between us?â Sophie retorted.
âThe 10% shares you hold, you bought them from Elodie. Since my grandmother has already paid you, you should return them.â
âFine, Iâll return the shares,â Sophie said coldly. âBut we need to settle up about Odie.â
âWhatâs your connection to Odie?â James asked, feigning ignorance. âIf I recall, Odie caused you a lot of pain. Now youâre settling scores for him?
That doesnât add up. Could it be youâve taken a liking to Odie again and plan to leave Colby? If so, I must warn you, the Minton family doesnât have the clout the Costello family does.â
