Bea let out a cold laugh, “Sophie, have you lost your mind? Odie’s from Summerfield. How much influence can he really have? Besides, we at Burke International already decided that Elodie is our new CEO. Why are you stirring up trouble now?”

“It’s just a decision. If everyone agrees, it can still be changed, right?” Sophie scanned the room, but the shareholders avoided her gaze, hesitant to speak up.

Bea chuckled sarcastically, “Sophie, are you insane? We’ve already chosen Elodie. On what grounds can she be dismissed? Even if Odie holds forty-

five percent of my grandson's shares, so what? Without over fifty percent, he can’t remove the CEO of Burke International!”

“Bea, don’t dismiss it so quickly. Sure, Odie has forty-five percent, but we’re also seeking the opinions of other shareholders. If they agree, then dismissing Ms. Elodie would be straightforward, wouldn’t it?”

“Stop talking nonsense! Why would Burke International’s people listen to you?”

Bea had weathered countless storms with the Burke family and these shareholders. She was confident Sophie couldn’t turn any of them against her.

But then, Sophie walked up to one of the shareholders and said, “Mr. Snyder, Odie wants to know, do you agree to dismiss Ms. Reeves or not?”

Mr. Snyder, visibly nervous, swallowed hard and, under Sophie’s pressure, stammered, “A-agree... agree...”

“Ridiculous!” Bea slammed the table, standing up abruptly, “Mr. Snyder, do you know what you’re saying?”

“Bea, this... Ms. Reeves is young. She might not be as capable as Mr. Odie. I still think it’s better to delay her taking over.”

“You!”

“Johns, what’s your take?”

“I-I also think Ms. Reeves’s appointment was rushed. Mr. Odie would be better suited to lead the company.”

Sophie looked around at the other shareholders, “What about the rest of you?”
