Chapter 1071
Revenge is Best Served After Reborn (James)
"...Griffin."
Griffin's face twisted with humiliation.
Sophie nodded slightly. "Griffin, were you working as a henchman for Mr. Elwood, just like Colby and the others?"
"Wouldn't it be better to ask him that?"
"Why did you kill Colby?"
"You put her in a difficult spot."
"Is that really the only reason?" Sophie raised an eyebrow, a hint of skepticism in her voice. "You must have some strong feelings for Ms. Elodie."
Griffin looked away, his voice barely a whisper. "Sheâs the kindest woman I've ever known."
"I'm not really interested in your love saga. I need you to explain why you went to such lengths to kill Colby."
"You don't know?"
Griffin scoffed. "Colby was suppressing Reeves International to clear the way for you, and youâre telling me you didnât know?"
Sophie frowned. "When did this start?"
"From the day you transferred your shares to Elodie. Thatâs when Reeves International in Harbor City started feeling the pressure. You didnât know Colby sent people to seize shares of Burke International? If Elodie didnât hand over the Burke International shares, Colby would go after the Reeves family! Elodieâs mother, whoâs already sick, has become a hostage in Colbyâs hands. You didn't know any of this?"
Griffin blurted out too much in one go.
Sophie remembered how Colby had been busy with wedding preparations lately, always out early and back late.
Colby... was he still not planning to let go of Burke Internationalâs shares?
In her previous life, Colby had abandoned his overseas assets to compete in Devonport with James. She had thought Devonport was important to Colby, never considering that he was after Burke Internationalâs shares.

ï¤Chapter 782 Sophie spoke coolly, "Griffin, when Ms. Elodie and James used Jenna to threaten us, why were you silent? Colby is only fighting fire with fire. Ms.
Elodieâs mother is important to you; Jenna is important to us. In business, itâs about winning or losing, not whatâs despicable. You have no room to judge."
"She said the same thing," Griffinâs tone grew somber. "But I wonât let her suffer."
"So, Elodie plans to hand over the Burke International shares?"
"What else? Who could be as cold-blooded as Colby? Sophie, don't think Colby loves you that much. When he first approached you in Devonport, he knew you were Mrs. Burke of Burke International. He wanted to exploit your rocky relationship with James to engineer a divorce. That way, James would lose the Russell familyâs connections, and Colby could step in more easily."
Griffin's words dripped with disdain for Colby.
But Sophie remained unruffled. "I knew from the start that Colby had ulterior motives. Initially, it was a mutually beneficial arrangement, nothing more.
Now, I know Colby is sincere. Iâve seen everything heâs done for me. What happened at the start doesnât matter anymore. If youâre trying to drive a wedge between us, youâre not clever enough."
Predictably, Griffin fell silent.
Sophie had no more questions. She turned to leave when Griffin called out urgently, "Wait! You promised me youâd give me the antidote."
