Chapter 59
Hold My Tear, I’m Getting My Wife Back! ( Leanne Castillo )
Chapter 59
Leanne strode back into the fray, her arms outstretched to separate the tussled Joy and Selina.
âAre you still naughty kids?â she asked with an exasperated sigh.
Joy snorted and ran her fingers through her hair, âHad I not taken pity on her condition, I wouldâve sent her flying with a single slap at just thirty percent effort.â
Selina huffed back, âHow arrogant! Just wait till my leg heals up, and Iâll show you moves that made me queen bee at school.â
the
âYou know,â Joy said with a sideways glance at Leanneâs slender arms, âDespite her limp, sheâs got the fight of three of you in her.â
âTalk is cheap,â Leanne retorted, her pride intact. âItâs not that I canât take you down, itâs just that Iâm not into playing dirty.â
Before Joy could respond, Selina let out a mocking laugh.
âYou? Fight her? She could squash you just by sitting on you.â
Leanne and Joy were at a loss for words and both felt slightly insulted.
Leanne gave Joy a nudge, âLetâs get out of here.â
âAre you leaving?â Selina pouted, feigning sorrow, âWhoâs going to keep me company?â
Leanne grabbed her coat, turning to say, âYou should be back at the hospital. Send me a selfie from your ward by ten. If I donât get it, Iâll have a word with your nurse.â
Selina was left speechless.
Joy, uninhibited and a touch reckless, had driven over and dared to drink.
She waved her hand dismissively, âNo biggie, Iâve only had a sip or two.â
As she attempted to climb into her SUV, Leanne grabbed her collar and led her to the Bentley parked out front.
Curtis was lounging in the back seat, looking lost in thought and utterly bored.
âLetâs drop Joy off first,â Leanne suggested.
tis shot her a languid glance, âYes, madam.
Leanne rolled her eyes at his sarcasm and gave Jake, the driver, Joyâs address.
Joy, fidgeting in the passenger seat, asked Jake, âSir, howâs the Bentley ride? Is it smooth?â
Jake, caught off guard by the contrast between demure Leanne and her boisterous friend,

replied. âAh, itâs a pretty decent experience.â
Joy, itching for a turn, said, âLet me have a go sometime.â
Seeing Curtisâ reflection in the rearview mirror, Jake squirmed uncomfortably, âUh, Ms. Campbell, this is Mr. Curtisâ car.â
Joy playfully suggested, âJust sneak me the keys when heâs out of town.â
Jake was at a loss for words.
Leanne was speechless too.
Could
you at least not suggest a grand theft auto in front of Curtis?
From the back, Curtisâ cool voice cut in, âIâm not deaf. Perhaps you need a megaphone for your little scheme.â
Joy, who typically avoided Curtis with his air of nonchalant aristocracy and intimidating aura, felt emboldened by her frustration, âYouâre not deaf, but you are blind.â
Leanne cautioned, âJoy, thatâs enough.â
Curtisâ indifferent gaze swept past, âIf you werenât Leanneâs friend, with that lack of brains, youâd be long gone by now.â
His words, though delivered casually, sent a chill down Joyâs spine. Then, she instinctively.
recoiled.
Leanne, ever the loyal friend, turned to glare at Curtis, âWhy are you insulting her?â
Curtis raised an eyebrow, âWasnât she the one who started it?â
Leanne defended, âJoy didnât insult you.â
Curtis almost laughed, âLeanne, could your favoritism be any more obvious?â
âHeh,â Joy couldnât resist gloating, âSheâs got my back, eat your heart out!â
Whether it was for Leanneâs sake or because he couldnât be bothered to argue with a fool, Curtis let it slide.
After dropping Joy off at her place, Curtis finally remarked to Leanneâ
defend her.â

Joy blew Leanne a kiss from outside. Although she couldnât see it, Leanne still raised her
by her because sheâs always stood by me,â Leanne said softly.
Without family, she and Joy had been each otherâs lifelines for years.
Love was scarce in Leanneâs world, but Joyâs unwavering affection always placed her first, sharing in her joys and sorrows with complete solidarity.
