Chapter 294
Hold My Tear, I’m Getting My Wife Back! ( Leanne Castillo )
Chapter 294
Mr. and Mrs. Wright were sitting in the living room, a steaming cup of coffee in front of them, while Suzan perched elegantly beside them, the picture of grace and propriety.
The scene was almost comical, resembling a marriage negotiation-except for the presence of Suzanâs college-going brother, both families, and the elders were all in attendance.
The only discordant note was the appearance of Leanne.
She couldnât figure out where the mix-up had happened. Today was supposed to be a meeting between the two families, and her presence was just plain awkward.
âCurtis is back,â announced Suzanâs father, Harrington Wright, a middle-aged man who took great care of his appearance, his smile revealing crowâs feet, âItâs been a while since weâve seen you.â
Leanne pushed past Curtis, attempting to leave, but Curtis caught her by the wrist.
Holding her hand, he walked into the room under everyoneâs watchful eyes.
Leanne tried subtly to twist her wrist away, wanting him to let go.
He held on firmly, his strong hands skillfully matched her efforts as he casually greeted the guests, saying, âHad we known Mr. and Mrs. Wright were visiting, we would have come home earlier.â
Harrington said, âWe heard your grandmother wasnât feeling well, so we thought weâd come over to check on her.â
Since Mary was an elder, she was supposed to be somewhat kinder to the younger ones.
But Mary, at her age, had become more willful, no longer caring for societal norms.
Those were for keeping the younger generation in line, not her.
She had been eagerly awaiting Leanneâs return, and here this family of three had shown up unannounced, making Leanne uncomfortable.
Mary was unpleased, sparing no oneâs feelings. âWho said I was not feeling well? Iâm perfectly fine. Seeing my granddaughter makes me feel better.â
Harrington was met with a cold shoulder, his expression sheepish. âItâs good to hear youâre in good health; that puts us at easeâ
Curtis leading Leanne over gently and patiently instructed her, âCome on, say hello. Mr and tars Wright we met at our weddingâ
Leanne maintaining her manners greeted the âMr Wright, Mrs. Wrightâ
Chapter 294
Originally, the Wright family had hoped to secure a marriage alliance with the Richardson family, but Leanne had unexpectedly become involved, so they naturally werenât fond of
her.
Even if they didnât approve, they still had to keep up appearances, and Suzanâs mother, Claudine Wright, responded half-heartedly, âItâs nice that Leanneâs here today as well.â
Curtis said, âGrandma missed her, so I brought her home for dinner.â
Harrington glanced at the two, noticing their hands still clasped together, then shot Leanne a somewhat displeased look.
Maintaining his dignity, he ignored Leanne and spoke only to Curtis, âI heard from Suzan youâve been sick recently. You meet a lot of clients at work; you should be more careful.â
âYouâre blaming my clients unjustly,â Curtis glanced at Leanne, âItâs her fault, getting sick and still insisting I cuddle her to sleep, always so clingy.â
It was unclear who was being unjust.
Leanne, feeling a bit embarrassed, glared at him, âStop making things up.â
Curtis, with his lazy tone, teased, âWhatâs there to be shy about? Youâre the youngest here; theyâve seen it all.â
Leanne wished she could shove his head into a trash can right then.
Their display of affection, paired with the blush spreading across Leanneâs neck, looked exactly like a young couple flirting.
Harringtonâs mouth twitched in disapproval.
Claudine glanced at Suzan, then picked up her tea cup to hide her displeasure.
Curtis finally let go of Leanneâs hand, sliding his arm around her waist and gently guiding her towards his grandmother.
âThe peonies in the garden have bloomed, letâs go admire them with grandma.â
Leanne understood; her presence made it difficult for them to speak freely, and she was tired of their scheming expressions.
