Chapter 278
Hold My Tear, I’m Getting My Wife Back! ( Leanne Castillo )
Chapter 278
The show of concern was all a front, the real intent behind Suzanâs words was to remind Leanne that the tea she had enjoyed yesterday was brewed by her.
On the other end of the phone, Suzan paused for a moment, then let out a scoff, âLeanne, I truly underestimated you before.â
âThatâs your problem. Small minds always see others as smaller.â
Suzan dropped the act, âAnd how noble are you? Always talking about divorcing Curtis, but why the constant back and forth? I thought you had more backbone. Going to the city hall for divorce papers, was that just another one of your games?â
It was Curtis who couldnât let go, yet in the eyes of others, she became the one at fault.
Lying on the couch, her voice, nasal and seemingly harmless, was now laced with cold indifference, âAnd what right do you have to question me?â
What right indeed?
If they had smoothly gone through the divorce, she wouldâve been engaged to Curtis by
now.
Their families had already discussed marriage plans with the Richardsons, just waiting for Curtis and Leanne to finalize their divorce. But it dragged on and on, and now, they werenât separating at all.
How could Suzan not despise her?
âIâm just curious, how do you have Curtis spinning around your finger? He was determin to divorce you after coming back from Emberland.â
âHe doesnât care about anyone, yet now heâs chasing after you. Leanne, whatâs your
secret?â
Leanneâs head was pounding, and she had no patience for nonsense, âAsk him directly.â
With that, she hung up.
The sleepiness that had taken a while to settle was swept away clean. The video continued playing, but Leanne couldnât sleep.
Curtis really knew how to play his cards, offering her the herbal tea Suzan made for him.
Just then, the sound of the door unlocking echoed, and Leanne turned around.
Curtis, dressed sharply, entered, carrying a bag of groceries.
Leanne was stunned, trying to recall if she had absentmindedly given him the passcode the night before.

Her thoughts were a jumbled mess, between the herbal tea from Suzan and Curtisâ scent from last night.
Curtis, as if at his own place, naturally changed into house slippers and took off his jacket, heading to wash his hands first.
âWhen did you learn my door code?â
âJust found out. Thought you were asleep, didnât want to disturb you, so I just tried a random one.â Curtis approached, pressing his palm against her forehead, âWhy are you still so warm?â
It wasnât the first time he guessed her password right.
If the rabbitâs house code is known by the big bad wolf, what then?
Leanne pushed his hand away, slipping into her slippers to change the password in front of him.
Curtis, taking his jacket, draped it over her shoulders, âItâs cold outside. Wear this then change it.â
Leanne covered the panel with her hand, âDonât peek.â
Curtis, amused by her, leaned against the wall with his arms crossed, a look of patience personified, âGo ahead. I wonât look.â
Leanne never pondered so hard, even for her final exams. After much thought, she came up with a combination he couldnât possibly guess.
Just as she was about to input it.
Curtis, with a playful eyebrow raise, suggested a bet, âIf I guess this one, you owe me kiss?â
Leanne abandoned the previously thought-out code, randomly entering a meaningless string of numbers.
Too random, she needed to note it down immediately, lest she forgets it herself.
As she passed by Curtis, she dropped a line, âGuess away.â
As if he could guess it right.
Curtis didnât see her random pressing, but he absolutely adored her clever and vibrant demeanor.
With a twinkle in his eye and a click of his tongue, he feigned innocence, âWhy so defensive? I havenât once sneaked in for a midnight kiss. For a gentleman like me, donât you think thatâs rare?â
Leanneâs headache almost made her temporarily forget the pain, âTo say something sq

shameless really is quite rare.â
Curtis laughed, âThatâs my brilliant student. Sharp as a tack.â
