Chapter 102
Hold My Tear, I’m Getting My Wife Back! ( Leanne Castillo )
Chapter 102
Climbing out of one pit of hell and into another was she asking for more torment or just having too much time on her hands?
Leanne was a realist at heart. Romance wasnât indispensable for her, and she could live
without it.

Selina couldnât stand the thought. âMy brotherâs a good guy, okay? Heâs a true gentleman, thoughtful and caring, nothing like that scumbag Curtis. Heâs serious about relationships. I wouldnât dream of setting him up with anyone else if it were someone else.â
Joyâs eyes sparkled with mischief. âIf your brother is a catch like that, set me up with him! She doesnât want to date, but hey, Iâm all in!â
âGet real!â Selina scoffed. âYouâd drag our familyâs IQ down a notch.â
Joy mock-strangled her, âSay that again, I dare you.â
Selina quickly retaliated with a pinch. âDream on about marrying my brother after you bully me daily!â
âLet go of me!â
âLet go first!â
âNo way! You started it. You should let go first!
Amidst their playful scuffle, Leanne deftly lifted her plate off the table to avoid becoming collateral damage.
She wondered aloud, âHow did I, of all people, end up friends with you two?â
At the count of three, Joy and Selina both released their grips.
Joy flicked her hair back. âYou forgot? I didnât. If it werenât for my thick skin and persistence back in school, you wouldnât have given me the time of day.â
âSo, youâre also an ENFP?â Selina narrowed her eyes, intrigued.
âDamn! You too?â
Just moments before at each otherâs throats, they shook hands warmly, like kindred. spirits, âAh, the joys of invading the personal space of our introverted friends.â
Leanne sighed. âWhat did we introverts ever do to deserve this?â
The rooftop restaurant Selina had picked for the evening was famous. The glass walls offered a panoramic view of Stonebridgeâs resplendent night lights, and a thin layer of

snow dusted the ceiling.
Dim, warm lights and flickering candle flames set a romantic mood inside.
Just before they were about to take their leave, Joy glanced around at the various couples and commented, âThe food here is pretty average, but the atmosphere is ideal for dates. Remind me why we are here again?â
Rummaging for her credit card, Selina retorted, âWhatâs wrong with us having a nice evening out?â
Leanne stepped up to pay amidst the cashierâs amused giggles. âIâve got this one.â
As the cashier was about to process the payment, she paused, âOops, sorry. Your bill has already been taken care of.â
âAlready paid?â
At that moment, Selina shouted, âJeremy!â
Leanne turned to see Jeremy, who had just finished dining with friends.
Selina whispered in her ear. âI promise on my left leg this isnât a setup. If Iâm lying, may my left leg break the next time I step out!â
Leanne replied dryly, âNo need to be so harsh on yourself.â
Jeremy offered, âHave you all finished? I just wrapped up here. I can give you a ride home.â Leanne said, âJoy drove us. Iâll ride back with her. You can take Selina.â
Selina thrust her bag at Jeremy. âWait for me, guys. I need to use the restroom.â
âYou and your timing,â Joy teased as she followed her, âHold up. Iâm coming too!â
Leanne and Jeremy waited at the restaurant exit. Leanneâs phone buzzed with a message from her hospital group, and she glanced down.
After a moment of silence, Jeremy broke the silence. âSelinaâs quite the schemer. I hope sheâs not causing you trouble.â
Leanne looked up to find Jeremyâs gaze on her. The dim light lent his eyes an intimate quality
He must have overheard Selinaâs comment. Leanne knew what he was implying.
She replied, âI didnât have the smoothest divorce from Curtis. It was a mess, and with all the paperwork still pending, I donât want you to get caught in the middle. Youâre his friend, and gossip could harm your reputation.â
âDo you always think about others before yourself?â Jeremy asked. âYouâve said so much, but you havenât mentioned how you feel.â
