“That’s right,” Mrs Zuo said. “Qingyu never found her a worthy companion.”

“Speaking of Qingyu —” Mrs Zuo suddenly realized something. “Why don’t I see her?”

She then had a bad feeling.

“And I haven’t seen Qingxian either. Where are they?” Mrs Dugu was perplexed.

“Yamo, Mengxi, you came out together. Did you see Qingyu and Qingxian?” Mrs Dugu asked her two children.

That question…

Dugu Mengxi and Dugu Yamo didn’t know how to answer them.

Dugu Yamo turned to leave.

Dugu Mengxi was slower, and was stopped by his mother.

“Mengxi, where are your cousins?” Somehow, Mrs Zuo felt uneasy.

The blow was so hard that Dugu Mengxi had yet to recover from it.

How was he supposed to tell his aunt?

“Aunt, stop asking,” Dugu Mengxi shook Mrs Zuo’s hand off and turned to leave.

Mrs Zuo felt even more uneasy. She rushed over and grabbed Dugu Mengxi. “Stop right there! Tell me! Where are Qingyu and Qingxian? Where did they go?!”

Dugu Mengxi said, “Aunt, I can’t…”

Mrs Zuo had an ominous feeling. “Speak!”

Dugu Mengxi took a deep breath. “Well, if you insist… I didn’t want to tell you. So, are you ready to hear it?”

“Mengxi, stop dawdling. Just tell your aunt where Qingyu and Qingxian are! Can’t you tell that your aunt is worried sick?” Mrs Dugu scolded Dugu Mengxi.

Dugu Mengxi said, “Mom, how am I supposed to tell her that both of my cousins are dead?!”

Mrs Zuo felt like she had been struck by lightning.

“Wanhua, Wanhua…”

No matter how loud Mrs Dugu yelled, Mrs Zuo remained unconscious.

Everyone panicked.

It was simply too much for Mrs Zuo.

By then, someone had already dashed off to get Master Zuo.

“How? How did this happen?” Mrs Dugu stared at Dugu Mengxi. “What’s going on? How did they die?”

Master Zuo arrived at that moment and asked, “What happened to Qingyu and Qingxian?! Say something!”

Mrs Zuo woke up at that moment.

“Master —” She burst into tears when she saw her husband. “They said… They said that Qingyu and Qingxian are dead… Oh god…”

Master Zuo swayed. His vision went dark, and he almost fainted.

The others immediately steadied him.

“How… Why? Who did this? Who killed them?!”

“It was Feng Wu!” Recalling what happened to Feng Liu, Dugu Mengxi blurted out the words.

Dugu Mengxi grew anxious. She kicked Dugu Mengxi and said, “You don’t know that! Don’t make things up!”

Dugu Mengxi didn’t dare speak a word after that.

But both Master Zuo and Mrs Zuo heard him.

“What did you say?! Feng Wu?! Tell me! What happened?” They rushed to Dugu Mengxi’s side and grabbed his arms.
