Chapter 7: Family

A/N: IM BACK! DID YALL MISS ME? 🤭 I put in a lot of effort for this chapter as I didn't post a lot due to exams. I hope y'all enjoy this chapter:DD I did so bad for my Chinese oral... I think I did okay for English 🥲 Also! I'm sick... I have runny nose and bad coughs-

Idris POV:

"Idris...I don't have much time..."

"Mother!-..."

"Idris...listen carefully... run, run far away! Your father and me will stay here!"

"But!..."

"Go!-"

"Hic!.."

No one POV:

"Aeryn, we're here."

"Agh...huh?Oh-.."

"Come on."

Arius came down of the carriage with Louis help then Aeryn. After they came down, they saw Damien and Lilith standing at the front of the door waiting for them with a smile of relief. However their smile slowly disappeared when they saw Aeryn.

"Louis. Who is that boy."

"Ah! Master. I shall explain everything as soon we we get inside. It's chilly out here, Young Master Arius will fall sick."

"Damien he's right. It's cold at night."

Damien sighed and went inside with the rest of them. When they were inside, Louis immediately explained the situation to Damien telling him about what happened with Aeryn.

"Sigh...I see."

"I'd like to speak to you and Aeryn privately,Louis."

"Ah, of course Master."

"Marcus. Get the children ready for bed."

"As you wish."

Marcus led the children out leaving only Damien,Louis and Aeryn in the room.

"Idris Mikela."

"Your hair and eyes show it all. It was said that the mage tower in the north was destroyed a few years ago. The founders were found dead but their child went missing.No one knew where he went. But he's right here in front of me."

"You-..."

"Don't worry, I won't tell my son. I don't want him to know these type of things. Your father has entrusted you to me."

"My father..."

"Louis. You will now take this boy under your wing. Train him, so that he can protect Arius."

"Arius...."

"I understand Master."

"Your new name is Aeryn De Alexander."

"..."

Arius POV:

'I wonder what's taking so long.'

"Young Master you should head to bed."

"But....alright...."

Marcus carried me to my room as I sighed. I wonder how Aeryn is doing. That reminds me he looks familiar red eyes and black hair...Where have I seen him? .... AGH! HE IS IDRIS MIKELA. How could I not remember him?! He is father's childhood friend son...they didn't mention much about Idris past but strange men with magic, more powerful than their magic attacked his family. The whole tower was destroyed and in chaos.

Idris's Mother, took Idris away and asked him to run far away. Idris was reluctant but still ran and ran. Idris's parents were killed and then died. The tower was in ruins. After running for many weeks, he ended up here in the capital.

"Young Master."

"Ah! What is it?"

"..Nevermind...let me tuck you into bed."

Arius nodded his head and climbed in bed. When Arius was comfortable with his position, Marcus tucked him in with the blanket and wished him a goodnights rest.

"Goodnight Young Master, sleep well."

"Goodnight Marcus. Don't let the bedbugs bite." Arius smiled and drifted away to sleep.

The Next Morning

Aeryn POV:

The curtains were gently swaying, the sun shining through the small gaps in between the curtains. This is a luxury...it's incredibly peaceful.

"Sir, it's time to get changed" One of the servants, walked into the room and placed Aeryn's clothes on the bed.

"Ah! I'll get changed myself. Thank you."

"I see. I will be leaving now."

Fresh clean clothes, I haven't worn these type of clothes since I left the tower...I got changed and headed outside. I was baffled at what I saw. Servant's running around.

"Young master Arius! Please come out!-"

Arius...it's that boy who saved me. I should help try to find him. I walked around the hallway hoping to find a figure with white hair. After a couple of minutes, I finally found him. He was hiding in laundry basket?- I carried him out gently, hoping that he would not awaken. However, his eye's gently gently fluttered opened.

"...."

"Good morning Arius."

"Aeryn.."

No one POV:

Arius rubbed his eye as he had just woken up from his deep sleep. Aeryn slowly helped Arius to stand up. When Arius was fully awake, Arius asked Aeryn to follow him to the dining room.

"Aeryn. Let's go eat breakfast." Arius said still drowsy but with a smile.

Aeryn followed Arius closely to the dining hall. When they had reached, Aeryn helped Arius opened the massive door. After opening it they had saw Damien, Lilith, Lillian and Sebastian waiting for them.

"Mother!"

"Haha, Arius, be careful make sure you don't fall alright?"

Arius nodded his head cutely as Aeryn followed behind, waiting for permission to sit down.

"Aeryn, come sit down. Let's eat breakfast together" Lilith said with a cheerful smile. Lillian and Sebastian also agreed with their mother and advised Aeryn to sit down.

Arius helped Aeryn take the pancakes and the different types of fruits to his plate. When Aeryn tried the pancakes, his eye lit up with sparkles. All of them laughed and continued eating. Even the servants were smiling, enjoying the sight of the happy family.

7 Years Later:

Sebastian & Lillian: 19 years old

Aeryn & Arius: 12 years old

"Arius."

"Ngh-... Good Afternoon, Aeryn."

"Good Afternoon... the duke wants to see both of us."

"Hmm...father?..."

"Yes, we should go now."

"Alright."

Aeryn stood up and handed Arius his hand. As they walked towards the duke's office they noticed Sebastian and Lillian come out of his office.

"Sebastian, what are you doing here? You too Lillian?"

"Arius! Aeryn! What a coincidence! Father called us for training T_T" Lillian said sadly.

"Ah, I see! Well we should get going."

Aeryn and Arius waved goodbye to Lillian and Sebastian. They walked towards the gigantic doors together.

'I still can't get over how big the doors are....'

"Arius? Are you fine?"

"Mhm! Let's go in."

They opened the doors to see Damien and his attendants. As while as dozens of paper work unfinished.

"Father, you wanted to see us?"

"Yes..."Damien rubbed his temples and said,"Well, you guys are almost turning fourteen. And which means..."

(A/N: Hello! It isn't supposed to be fourteen but thirteen. Hehe, sorry for the misunderstanding.😋)

"Our debutant."

"That's right Aeryn. However, before your debut, you guys will have to visit the temple."

Before having a debutant, children of nobles must visit the temple to cleanse themselves. The temple will give them a pendant as a gift for their debut. However, most people tend not to wear it as it is embarrassing.

"I know this may be a little bit too late and I should have told you guys this earlier but....You both will have to visit the temple tomorrow."

"But duke, our debut is a month away."

"Yes, however, this is an order from the emperor. Children of the Duke family will have to visit early. Your siblings also faced this as well. I know it must be a lot to take in but it's an order that I cannot disobey."

"I see...it's alright father."

"I'm glad that you're not that shocked. Ahem, the temple has requested you wear the clothes that they have sent. Don't worry your siblings and I have worn them before. It's a tradition of the temple.The clothes should already be in your rooms."

"Alright father. We shall leave you be now. Make sure to catch up on sleep and not tire yourself to much."

Damien nodded his head in agreement and continued to do his paperwork that he hated so dearly. As Arius and Aeryn walked out of the office, Arius held Aeryn's hand and told him not to worry.

"Arius?-"

"Aeryn, are you worried?"

"No, as long as I have you here with me I'm fine.

"Haha, Aeryn, shall we go take a nap?"

"It's not been long since your last nap. However, it'll be great and refreshing"

Arius smiled and looked at Aeryn as he was walking. Arius thought that Aeryn had grown taller. Just a few years ago when he met Aeryn, he was weak and skinny. Now he's strong and handsome. Arius chuckled softly and continued walking. Humming a small tune.

A/N:

I'm sorry for posting so late! I was sick due to the haze in my country! The doctor said I might  have allergies 🤧. I didn't know I had allergies! I only found out this year!

Anyways! This chapter was kinda okay. But I will do better in the future. And how do you like the relationship between Aeryn and Arius?
