Chapter 493
Harry Potter: A Certain Ancient Rune Professor of Hogwarts (TL)
At dusk, a tall figure appeared at the edge of a muggle town. He turned into a fork in the road and walked for ten minutes through the dimly lit woods, with no path in front of him, but he didnât stop until he reached an old, dilapidated house.
âKnock, knock!â
The knock on the door sounded rhythmically.
With a tooth-aching âcreakingâ sound, the door opened carefully from inside.
âWho is it?â
A raspy voice that sounded like someone had been soaking in an ocean for days and nights asked. Immediately after, a wand emerged from the darkness with a shaking hand.
âRed Scar?â The young voice asked.
The strange visitor ignored the wand pointed at him, looked down and examined a list, and made a âtskâ sound under his breath, reading the text in an intrigued tone, âLyndon Seymour, born in the Timothy village â the village of witches â which is famous for their matriarchy, born in 1947, raised by his aunt. Well â even though you are male, she passed you all kinds of weird dark magic legacy; After growing up, you smuggled and sold dark magic artefacts and put all your earnings to study dark magic. During the Wizarding War, you chose to provide support to Voldemort and reportedly you were acclaimed by the high-ranking Death Eaters â¦â
âThatâs you, right?â
The visitor looked up, revealing a young face with light blue eyes that seemed to glow, and from time to time an image of a rune or two flashed through his pupils.
The wand fell to the ground at once.
âYou are, are, ARE â Felix Hap! You, youâve finally found your way here!â The dark wizard named Lyndon Seymour sprawled against the door frame, the dim light from outside hit him, revealing a terrified face.
The man in front of Felix dressed like a typical dark wizard. His right index finger is coated with a layer of silver powder, but if you look closely, you will find that it is wrinkled skin, and his neck reveals a tender red flesh that keeps twisting up to half of his face, it is bright red and seems to have just healed, but that scar has been there for more than twenty years.
Thatâs where he got his nickname from.
Felix strode into the room, his eyes glancing around, walking cautiously across the floor. In addition to avoiding mould and dusty mess, it is also not to touch any traps in the room, and eventually, he picked a fairly clean chair to sit down.
The owner of the house regained his composure, at least on the surface. Red Scar clutched his wand, his eyes fixed on Felix deeply, as if to separate himself from his earlier cowardly appearance, he said in a low voice: âYou shouldnât be here, Hap, Iâm not one of those lone wizards you drove away, I have friends who-â
â Are you talking about Bonnard, Aneurin? Or Kennedy?â Felix asked.
Red Scar looked at him in surprise, âWhat did you do to them?â Right now, the wizard is glancing around, seemingly looking for an escape route.
âWell, after I persuaded them, they obviously realized how unwise it was to stay back in this situation, so they decided to temporarily leave,â Felix said lightly: âIt took some time to convince them, but the good thing is, the results are positive, I told them that when the news of Voldemortâs death spread out they can come back in peace.â
â Well, then we have to wait for too long,â Red Scar said with a mocking expression, âhow long is it since the last war? Ten years?â
â No complaints,â Felix nodded his head in the direction of the file, âdo as youâre told.â
Red Scarâs nose twitched uncharacteristically, a vivid crimson trail crawling along half of his face, as he growled, âYouâre trying to eliminate opposition! You never accused me of a single crime a decade ago, but now you want to throw me out of England for some unknown reason?â
âThere was just no evidence.â
âWhat-â
âThe reason why you werenât arrested then was because you were doing it very covertly, Red Scar, the Ministry of Magic didnât get solid evidence, but donât pretend youâre innocent because of that, you canât fool me, you canât fool a memory master, which is why this job fell into my hands.â
Felix calmly pointed to his eyes, and a few silver dots of light flashed around the pupil, like a ring belt around a blue planet, Red Scar cowered and averted his eyes, he had never seen such terrible eyes.
Felix raised the paper in his hand again.
âThere are hundreds of examples like you, and the Ministry of Magic is having a difficult time dealing with you; if we let you go, it might not be long before you will be pulled over to the other side, but still it would be too cruel to do something in advance, like locking you up, even though â well, forgive me, in my eyes your crime is so obvious-â
âDonât read my mind!â Red Scar yelled sharply, âMemories never count as evidence!â His wand lit up, a black mist wrapped around its tip, and the entire room became unbearably dim.
âAre you sure you want to do it?â Felix asked softly.
The courage Red Scar had gathered deflated like old tires, and he leaned against the table in the corner, his eyes averted from Felix.
âWhat do I need to do?â He asked in a low voice, his wand loosely grasped.
âAs I said before, get out of here, find a place to take a holiday, travel, muddle through ⦠until the fall of Voldemort, when you can safely and boldly come back and continue your promising illegal work. At that time it will not fall under my control.â
Red Scar muttered under his breath.
âIâm sorry, I didnât catch that?â Felix asked.
âSince when do you work for the Ministry of Magic? Arenât you a professor?â Red Scar couldnât figure out how he had bumped into him.
It is Felixâs turn to sigh.
âIt couldnât be helped, they made an offer I couldnât refuse â actually, I could still refuse, but my morals donât allow me to owe favours, and frankly, Iâm not averse to this temporary job to exercise my magical abilities in the process.â
He touched the ring on his left hand, where the hourglass obtained from the Ministry of Magic is stored, and even half of it is filled with time energy.
After the Wizengamot meeting, Ms. Bones pleaded with him to eliminate some of the unstable elements, âEach of them has a previous record but escaped punishment for various reasons, and although they may be just minor players who waved flags, they are worthy of caution all the same, because together they can be considered as wings of You-Know-Who.â
She also made a veiled allusion to the invasion of the Ministry of Magicâs Department of Mysteries.
âWhoever it is, I just hope that person is not on the side of the You-Know-Who,â she said with a headache, âThe Unspeakables concluded that there is nothing to worry about, but I think ⦠alas, perhaps this is a good thing, at least the You-Know-Who can no longer think of a similar thing now.â
Bonesâ attitude represented that of the Ministry of Magic itself â that is, wavering, they wanted the hourglass of time-turner back but feared that Voldemort would snatch it away before it could even warm up.
And the latter can cause significantly more harm.
â¦
Red Scar stared at the black square table with a few newspapers and two booklets on it. One is a Handbook for Survival in Wartime sent by the Ministry of Magic, and the other is an Easy Illustrated Guide to Ancient Rune, released months ago by Felix Co-Publishing, with a fancy cover that looks like a childrenâs book.
âAncient Runes? How enviable â¦,â he said sourly.
âYou bought it too?â Felix asked in surprise, following his eyes to the booklet and asking with interest, âHowâs it to read?â
âNot that good,â Red Scar shook his head as he held out his hand, his face turned red, and it took quite a while to condense an ancient rune, but the next second the rune shattered. âIâm old, not very adaptable to new fields â¦â
âCould it be because youâre studying dark magic? The feedback from the others is pretty good.â Felix calmly discussed it with him.
âYeah, well, Iâll try again â¦â
Felix took a moment to point him out. Then Red Scar began to pack up, although the Ministry of Magic prohibited the misuse of Undetectable Extension Charm, but it obviously can not constrain dark wizards, not to mention the Red Scar himself is considered half alchemist, so he can make his own storage items.
All the furniture was discarded, and Red Scar picked out bottles and jars from all corners of the room, some of which are obviously enchanted and can hold things many times their size. Finally, it took some effort for Red Scar to squeeze them all into one trunk, as he panted slightly.
âAre you going to stare at me till I Apparite?â Red Scar picked up the trunk and looked around sadly, âI have limited mana, I will only be able to leave tonight.â
âOh, no, I can provide some anonymous Portkeys.â Felix waved his hand, and a row of broken items appeared in front of him, boots, boxes of cans, bottles of butterbeer, and a rotten piece of wood.
Red Scar hesitated for a moment, âAny recommendations? There wonât be an Auror across the street once I teleport there, right?â
Felix shook his head slightly, âThere is no need for that, what you need to worry about is whether to continue to do your shady stuff; or to start over in a new place and honestly accept the local Ministry of Magicâs rules.â
Red Scar sneered and ripped open his shirt, where there are large patches of scars.
âSomeone like me?â
He said nothing more, picking a random Portkey and holding it in his hand, where he was going didnât affect him much. âSo, Iâll see you in ten years, Mr. Hap?â
âIt wonât be that long, remember to read more newspapers.â
Felix waved his hand at him.
âYouâre really just going to let me go? Donât you need me to sign a magic pact? In case I sneak back in â¦,â Red Scar seemed confused.
âRed Scar,â Felix said calmly, âwho do you think this approach will benefit? Donât be silly, if it is a Death Eater who appeared at your door today, you simply have no choice, and I â when I see you mixed in with the ranks of the Death Eaters â will never show you any mercy.â
As the wizard in front of him disappeared, Felix ticked off the document.
âAll the best.â
