Avery’s face was visibly frosty, his eyes a tempest of deep–seated rage, swirling with crimson fury.

The scandal of the Chambers Group from years past had been unveiled by Matthew.

Even if it meant tarnishing the family’s reputation, he was determined to humiliate Avery and his mother, to stir Jeff’s disdain for them, to ensure that this so–called Mrs. Chambers would remain forever despised as a harlot!

Like that guy with the glasses–he might look decent, but he’s nothing but a vile creature disguised as a person. I know you stood up tonight to defend Evadne, but from now on, remember to stay away from him. Got it?”
