Chapter 395
Avery returned to The Velvet Haven.
Elsie had gotten the news and was already waiting for him in the room.
The door was kicked open with a loud bang, causing the crystal chandelier on the ceiling to tremble.
Seeing Avery storm in furiously, Elsie was so scared that her delicate b*dy shuddered. She didnât dare to look at him directly and almost curled up into a ball.
Harvey, behind her, also had a look of panic on his face, silent as a cicada in winter.
Back in Helgen, he had followed Mr. Chambers, and he knew too well what it was like when Mr. Chambers was angryâit was lethal!
âMr. Chambers,â Elsie said timidly, her beautiful face revealing a look of panic.
She and Evadne, no matter how similar they looked, she could never imitate even oneâthousandth of Evadneâs demeanor.
âMr. Chambers, calm down, maybe things arenât what you think?â
Before she could finish speaking, Avery strode to the coffee table, bent over to pick up the crystal ashtray, his eyes red with rage, and hurled it directly at Elsie!
âAh!â
Elsie screamed, her arms covering her head.
But Avery didnât throw it at her. The ashtray flew past her ear, hit the wall behind her, and then fell to the ground.
The wall had a big dent in it!
âAll of this is because of the trouble you stirred up on your own.â
Avery cracked his knuckles; the crimson in his eyes glaring at Elsie was horrifying, âI gave this face to you. How I told you to use it, you should use it that way. Why did you have to do something I didnât ask you to do!â
Elsieâs tears poured down. She wanted to cry but didnât dare to make a sound.
âNow, Elvis might have guessed about our relationship, and he might be looking into you in secret! If this reaches Evadneâs ears, and she finds out that thereâs another woman who looks almost exactly like her in Elmsworth. With her intelligence, wouldnât she suspect, like the incident with Thaddeus and Edith back then?!â Averyâs face, naturally pale, became even whiter with rage, making him look like a ghastly demon!
âMr. Chambers, I was wrong. I really was. Uh!â
Elsieâs trembling voice was choked back by Averyâs slender hand. The man easily gripped her n*eck, his eyebrows furrowed as he lifted her rigid b*dy off the grouná¸.
âMr. Chambers! Donât!â Harveyâs head was throbbing with fear upon seeing this.
But Avery ignored him, his fingers tightening, his eyes bloodâred!
âAh. Ave!â Elsieâs arms hung limply at her sides, her face turning from red to purple, tears welling up in her eyes.
Ave.
Hearing this call, what came to Averyâs mind was the image of Evadneâs smiling face.
His heart got softened.
Because of Evadne, he was lenient towards the womanâin front of him.
âIâve already lost one battle to Thaddeus. Donât make me lose again.â
Averyâs eyes narrowed slightly. His voice carried a cold, threatening tone, âOne more time, and Iâll make you disappear from this world without even being noticed.â
He suddenly released his hand, and Elsieâs b*dy fell heavily to the ground.
She was coughing painfully, her vision black; it felt like she had just died.
Avery took a pure white silk handkerchief from his pocket, calmly wiping his hands; as if nothing had happened, he became gentlemanly again.
Not a brutal thug in a suit.
âMr. Chambers, this trouble was my doing. I should be the one to fix it for you.â Elsie finally caught her breath, her beautiful face covered in cold sweat.
âYouâre going to fix it for me? What can you fix?â
Avery laughed scornfully, âKill Elvis for me?â
Elvis?

So, that handsome man was named Elvis.
Elsie thought of that charming face, the mischievous and alluring look in his eyes, and her heart couldnât help but beat faster.
The night she returned from the bar. She dreamed of that face again.
Even she herself found it incredulous.
If you want me to kill him, Iâll do my best.â Elsie gritted her teeth, sweat dripping down her face.
âHeâs my womanâs brother, and youâre going to just kill him? Youâre audacious.â Avery glared at her, his eyes dark and ominous.
Elsie shivered, sweat soaking her hair, making her look both pitiful and lovable, âIâm sorry. Mr. Chambers.â
âI donât want you to kill him. I want you to seduce him.â
âWhaâwhat?!â Elsie was completely stunned.
âYou two seemed to have a great time that night.â
Averyâs eyes gradually revealed contempt, âSince thatâs the case, why not just seduce him? It seems heâs quite interested in you too, even if itâs just because you have a face that resembles his beloved sister.â
âNo, thereâs nothing like that, Mr. Chambers.â Elsieâs heart tightened, feeling like she was under Averyâs icy interrogation.
Avery sneered, leaning forward to grasp her chin forcefully, his fingertips rubbing her roseâcolored l*ps.
Elsie used to never wear such vibrant l*pstick,
It was Avery who forced her to use a passionate red, only because it was the exclusive color of Miss Ashbourne from the Ashbourne family.
Elsie stared deeply at the man in front of her, the man she had loved for so long. Tears welled up in her eyes, slowly trickling down her beautiful face.
âYouâre so pretty. How could Elvis not be moved by you? Go on, seduce him, make him your servant. And then destroy him.â
As his words fell, Avery let out a chilling laugh from his quivering throat, excitement flashing in his eyes.
âOkay, Mr. Chambers.â
Elsie was clearly crying, yet a bright smile spread across her red l*ps, the most like Evadne, and the one that made Avery lose his mind, âAs long as this is what you want, even if I have to risk my life. I will definitely do it for you.â
Evadne and Thaddeus arrived at the police station where Aaron was.
By the time they arrived, Aaron was already waiting for them at the entrance.
âAaron!â
Evadne was the first to approach him, and Aaron quickly reached out to place a comforting arm around her shoulder, âYou wild kid, you never listen, do I have to handcuff you to the bed?â
âHandcuff me to the bed, Aaron? What kind of kinky stuff are you into? Thatâs a bit much, donât you think?â Evadne had regained some of her spirits, her eyes twinkling mischievously like a cute little fox.
Thaddeusâ brows furrowed at the words, an envious feeling rising in his heart.
Love could make a person so foolish, even feeling jealous of her own brother.
Aaronâs face turned as red as a ripe tomato, he coughed awkwardly, stuttering, âEvadne, what are you talking about? What kind of kinky, stop talking nonsense!â Thaddeus frowned even more, almost to the point of tangling his brow into a knot!
This man was blushing; what did that mean?
He remembered that Aaron and Evadne were halfâsiblings, and then he thought of his own troublesome.
He couldnât let his guard down!
Evadne stopped teasing Aaron, her expression becoming serious, âAaron, has the phone been repaired?â
âIt was a bit difficult, but our tech guys are professionals.â
Aaron then turned to Thaddeus, âMr. Abernathy, weâll need you to give a statement later.â
âOf course, I came here to cooperate with you.â
Thaddeusâ dark eyes danced, gently landing on Evadneâs profile, unable to look away.
Evadne was not unaware of his gaze.
Her l*ps, a soft pink color, pressed together softly, deliberately avoiding his intense gaze.

As the three walked into the police station, despite it being late in the evening, the sight of Thaddeus and Evadne together still drew surprised glances from policemen. Such an outstanding couple, even hard to find in heaven, not marrying would be a waste!
Inside the interrogation room.
Aaron brought out Ericaâs repaired phone.
Evadneâs long eyelashes fluttered as she slowly picked up the brokenâscreen phone.
On the litâup screen was a picture of Erica and her grandmother. She was holding a cute little dog of yellow and white, smiling happily and freely.

Suddenly, Evadne felt as if her head was exploding, pain spreading from her heart to every corner of her b*dy, causing her to tremble. She covered her ears, eyes tight shut, tears yet streaming down her face.
âEvadne! Are you okay? Do you need some rest?â
Aaron knew she was still struggling with the psychological trauma. She must relate what she saw to what happened that night. There was still a huge impact on her. He quickly stood up, intending to walk around the table to comfort her.
But then, Aaron saw Thaddeus suddenly turned his b*dy, opening his arms to wrap around Evadneâs shoulders. His large hand, the bones clearly visible, slowly and firmly gripped the back of her n*eck. Then gently, very carefully, he rested her forehead on his broad shoulder.
âTake deep breaths, listen to me, take deep breaths.â
His thin l*ps were close to her ear. His voice, soft and low, guided her, his warm palm patting her trembling back.
Eyes closely shut, Evadne clung to him, trembling in his embrace, gasping for air, a heartbreaking sight.
Aaron watched their interaction, not stopping them, only heaving a sigh.
He had to admit, without Thaddeus, he wouldnât know how to calm Evadne down.
Their relationship was complicated, to say the least.
But if Thaddeusâ method could make his sister feel better, he was willing to give the man a chance.
After a while, Evadne finally managed to steady her emotions.
Realizing she was leaning on Thaddeus, she felt a rush of panic and quickly pushed him away.
Thaddeus was taken aback, blinking his starry eyes.
âThank you.â Evadne muttered, not daring to meet his gaze.
âYouâre welcome.â The man responded softly.
She noticed that Thaddeusâ suit was wet from her tears, feeling a wave of guilt; she quickly wiped his shoulder a few times. Thaddeus was at a loss for words.
âUhm, before you leave, give me your suit. Iâll have it dry cleaned and return it to you.â
âWhy wash it?â
Thaddeusâ eyes twinkled with amusement, his smile warm like a ray of sunshine piercing her heart, âI wonât wash it. Itâs fine the way it is.â
The atmosphere suddenly felt oddly charged.
