Chapter 29
Tailor Shop.
Chapter 29
Thaddeus walked in, his towering figure almost filled the entire doorway, like a giant suddenly breaking in.
A tailor was ironing clothes, and his expression turned quite surprised when he saw this Impressive man. âWell, itâs you!â
âIâm willing to pay any price, please help me out.â Thaddeus looked anxious as he opened the box he was holding.
âOh, my Go d. What happened? How did such a good piece of clothing end up like this?â The tailor cherished clothes, and it pained him to see such a nice suit ruined so badly.
âI messed it up.â Thaddeus could only say this.
âThis suit was sewn by the girl herself, and I watched her painstakingly complete it.â The tailor sadly shook his head, âWhat a pity, such a good suitâ¦â
âIs there any way to fix it?â Thaddeus anxiously asked.
âHow can this be fixed? If only the inside was damaged, it could be repaired, but both the inside and outside are damaged. Even if itâs repaired it canât be restored to its original state.â
Hearing this, Thaddeusâs heart tightened. âJust try your best to fix it. Even if there are traces after the repair, at least the hole can be sewn up.â
As soon as Thaddeus returned to Windermere Estate, he felt a suffocating atmosphere.
âThaddeus.â Elspethâs eldest daughter, Glynnis hurriedly came over, âGrandpa came, heâs upstairs in the study arguing with dad. You have to stop them!â
âWhy are they arguing?â Thaddeus furrowed his brow.
In his eyes, Frederic was a very good child, or at least he gave off that impression to outsiders.
Grandpa had a stroke and high blood pressure, and couldnât easily get angry. Frederic even went against his usual principle to argue with grandpa; there could only be one possible reason â for his stepmother, Elspeth.
âAcacia is related to our Abernathy family, and itâs only right for dad to help the Stirling family in their time of need.â Glynnis stamped her foot in frustration, âBut grandpa wonât let dad help the Stirling group. Isnât grandpa being foolish? Helping the Stirling group is like helping our own family, right? Thaddeus, youâre about to marry Acacia. If this matter isnât resolved, the dignity of our Abernathy family canât be preserved.â
Thaddeusâs eyes darkened as he quickly ascended the stairs.
Hamiltion sat in a wheelchair, picking up the ashtray and cup on the table and throwing them on the floor. He was eighty years old, and the older he got, the angrier he became. If anything upset him, he would start smashing things.
Elspeth wiped her tears with a handkerchief, crying in Fredericâs arms. Frederic used his b*dy to protect her, fearing the shattered cup would cut her. âDad, can you calm down? Canât we talk properly?â
âIf you do what you should do, Iâll reason with you. If you do what you shouldnât, I can only use force to stop you.â Hamiltion was so furious that he pounded his chest, âWhat did I tell you? I told you not to meddle in the Stirling groupâs affairs. And you actually went behind my back?!
Youâre helping them clear their backlog of goods, transferring the Abernathy groupâs projects to them. Has your brain been muddled by this woman? Do you think Iâm already dead?â
âDad, how can you say that?â Frederic was so angry he was lost for words, but he didnât dare to talk back directly.
âAm I wrong? Ever since you married this woman, your thinking has become unclear.â Hamiltion hit the armrests of the wheelchair hard. Elspeth tearfully said, âI know you look down on me, but I feel that since Frederic and I have been together for over twenty years, Iâve always taken care of the family, served the Abernathy family with all my heart, lived very cautiously, sincerely and fearfully. Iâve never gone against your wishes, never brought trouble to the Abernathy family⦠because I know marrying Frederic was a gift from you, and I dare not wish for anything else.â
Frederic looked at his wife in his arms with gentle gazes. But Hamiltion saw through her fake humble facade. He was so angry that his wheelchair shook.
Elspeth continued, âMy sister is an honest businesswoman⦠itâs too unjust for her to be slandered like this for no reason. And Acacia is about to marry Thaddeus, this matterâ¦â
âAn honest businesswoman? I think itâs more like a swindler.â Hamiltion laughed coldly.
Elspethâs expression froze for a moment.
âDonât think that because Iâm old and retired that I donât know anything. The Stirling group brought this on themselves, their business is unclear, and in the end, they can only reap what theyâve sown. You donât need to use Thaddeus to pressure me, if he wants to marry Acacia from the Stirling family, I wonât recognize him as my grandson. You guys just live your lives, and when I die one day I donât need you to mourn for me.â
âDad.â Frederic sighed.
Elspeth cried, but her eyes were extremely cold. She had been oppressed by Hamiltion for over twenty years, she had had enough. She hoped that Hamilton would just quietly die, and die with his wishes never fulfilled.
âGrandpa.â Thaddeus quickly came in, reaching out to pat Hamiltonâs back, but was pushed away by Hamiltion,
âDonât pretend to care. You and your father are the same, all running around for this woman.â
âI wonât help the Stirling group. Iâve already stated my position.â Thaddeusâs eyes were exceptionally calm.
Hamitionâs eyes it up instantly. âReally?!â
âYeah, the Stirling group is indeed a hot mess, so Iâm not lifting a finger for them.â
âAnd what about you and the Stirling familyâs Acaciaâ¦
âThatâs got nothing to do with Acacia. Our wedding is still on.â Thaddeus replied co olly.
âAh, forget about it. At least youâre not entirely clueless. Thatâs something. Youâre a smidge better than your clueless dad.â Hamiltion waved his hand in disappointment. He couldnât figure out what was wrong with his grandson. He dumped a perfectly fine girl and insisted on marrying that troublemaker Acacia.
âElspeth.â Thaddeus turned to Elspeth, his tone was cold, âMrs. Stirling is your own sister. I get it if you want to help her. But any help should not harm the Abernathy groupâs interests. Otherwise, wouldnât that contradict your all-time principle of âserving the Abernathy family wholeheartedly?â
Elspeth was left speechless by his words, her face flushed.
*Ded, even though Acacia is my fiancee, I always keep my personal life separate from work. As the chairman, you should always put the groupâs interests first. Thaddeus turned to Frederic again.
There was no hint of father-son affection in his voice, just a business-ke demeanor.
Fredericâs face darkened. Knowing he was in the wrong, he braced himself and said, âHelping the Stirling group isnât just for Elspeth. I just returned from Aetheria where I was supposed to attend a summit and meet with a big international project, but they canceled at the last minute. Then I found out they were intercepted by the K Groupâs president, Cas sius. G od knows what he promised them, but they decided not to consider working with the Abemathy group anymore. All these things are related to the Ashbourne group. They are clearly targeting us, how can I let them keep getting the upper hand and stepping on our heads?â
âThereâs more to this? Hamiltonâs eyes darkened.
The Abernathy group in Elmsworth and the Ashbourne group in Skyrim had been rivals for centuries. The Ashbourne groupâs great-great-grandmother even vowed that they would never have alliance with the Abemathy family. The tension between them was always high. But Cas sius not only stole the Abernathy groupâs project but also played d*rty abroad. It was clear he was out for revenge.
Wait a minute.
Thaddeus suddenly realized something, and quickly asked. âDad, did you say you met Cas sius in Aetheria?â
âYes.â
âToday?â
âOf course.â
How could that be?!
Cas sius was at the hospital picking up llana this afternoon. How could he be in Aetheria at a meeting?
Could it be that the man this afternoon wasnât Cas sius? If he was not Cas sius, then who was he?!
