His Ex wife is a billionaire (Evadne and Thaddeus) Novel Full Episode
Chapter 25
Jareth arrived at the hotelâs restaurant with his female companion.
The moment the food hit the table, his date started snapping photos like crazy. Jareth was irritated by this. âWhat are you doing? Never seen food before?â
She awkwardly put away her phone and started eating in silence.
After they finished, the restaurant manager came over with a courteous smile. âMr. Jareth, were our dishes to your liking?â
âVery good. The meat had a nice bite to it. Iâm very pleased.â
Although Jarethâs personal life was somewhat complicated, he was, after all, from a wealthy family, and his manners and demeanor were still quite refined.
âWhatâs this? Itâs just tough meat. It tastes awful.â She rudely slammed the cutlery on the table, making a loud sound.
Jarethâs face darkened instantly, his eyes blazing with anger.
âWe will take your feedback to heart and improve. We are truly sorry for your unpleasant experience.â The managerâs attitude was impeccable, and he bowed deeply.
âDonât listen to her. She forgot to wear her dentures today. She wouldnât be able to chew marshmellow, let alone meat.â
Her face froze. She didnât dare to retort to Jarethâs mocking.
Jareth pulled out his wallet, took out a w ad of cash, and placed it before the manager. While everyone else had moved onto digital payments, he was still carrying around cold hard cash.
âThis is a tip for you. By the way, do you have a staff member named Ilana?â Jarethâs hand was propping up his chin, his eyes full of longing.
âMr. Jareth, our service philosophy is âyou reap what you sow.â We donât accept tips from customers. Also, we donât have an employee named Ilana.â
âWhat? No way!â Jareth was flustered. âI saw her unloading stuff at the back door when I arrived. How can you say thereâs no such person? Go and check.â
âIâm sorry, Mr. Jareth, thereâs no need to check. Iâve been working here for fifteen years. I know all the staff, and thereâs no one by that name.â The manager left after finishing his sentence.
As Jareth was pondering this, a beautiful figure caught his eye. Evadne gracefully strolled into the restaurant alone.
She saw Jareth and was slightly surprised, but her expression remained calm. She had been married to Thaddeus for three years, and he never took her out or introduced her to his friends.
Still, Evadne knew Thaddeusâs best buddy was Jareth. Their personalities were polar opposites, but she knew their bond was tight. They were best buddies.
Luckily, there were no other staff in the restaurant at this time. It would have been a disaster if someone had called her âCEOâ.
Jarethâs eyes were glued to âIlanaâ, his eyes practically popping out of his head.
His date saw that Jareth had set his sights on a new target and was fuming with jealousy. The way Jareth looked at this woman was different, like he was experiencing first love. She was burning with envy.
Evadne ordered a cup of coffee from the waiter and sat down to check her phone.
âMs. Ilana, what a coincidence. Youâre here too?â
Evadne raised her eyes coldly. There was no emotion in her gaze when she saw Jareth.
âIâm just taking a break. I work here.â
Jareth raised an eyebrow. He knew she worked here all along, but he had asked out of respect. This woman was so straightforward and not vain. His liking for her grew even stronger.
âSigh, Cas sius doesnât know how to treat a woman. Youâre such a great woman, he should treat you well. How could he let you work here? He really doesnât know how to take care of girls.â Jarethâs palm was propping his chin, his fingers gently rubbing his cheek.
âTreat me well?â
Evadne laughed coldly, âI was confined at home by Thaddeus for three years. Iâve had enough of that isolated life. Jareth, you actually want me to experience that again?â
Jareth was taken aback. The womanâs smile carried a chilling murderous intent, stabbing a pain in the bottom of his eyes.
âAfter leaving Thaddeus, I vowed to be an independent woman. I wonât be looked down upon by anyone, even if itâs tough and hard, Iâm willing to work for it. President Ashbourne gave me the opportunity to improve myself, and Iâm grateful to him. Heâs always respected my choices, so please donât badmouth him.â
Jareth was left speechless by Evadneâs words, his smile becoming awkward.
âMr. Jareth, your girlfriend is waiting for you over there. Itâs not nice to flirt with other women, Is it?â Evadne started to rush him impatiently. âJust because we had dinner doesnât make her my girlfriend. Does a k*ss mean weâre engaged?â Jarethâs eyes sparkled with an enticing. glimmer. âIâll pick you up tonight for dinner. What do you want to eat? Iâll make the reservation.â
âI already have a boyfriend, Mr. Jareth.â Evadneâs tone was impatient.
âI donât care if you have an ex-husband or a boyfriend.â Jareth never played by the rules when it came to romance. He only considered his feelings and didnât care if it was appropriate. âIf youâre scared, we can go to my private villa. Itâs very secluded, and my chef is Michelin three-star rated. Iâll have them prepare in advance.â
Evadneâs brows furrowed, thinking when would her coffee arrive? Once it arrived, sheâd give Jareth a wake-up call.
Just then, Jarethâs phone rang. He took it out and saw that it was Thaddeus.
âI need to take a call. My apologies.â
Jareth temporarily excused himself, and her coffee finally arrived. Before Evadne could even take a sip, Jarethâs date strutted over arrogantly. She hadnât heard their conversation clearly, but she knew this woman was the staff Jareth had asked about earlier.
A common employee dared to flirt with her boyfriend? She needed to teach her a lesson.
âHey, Iâm warning you. If you want to keep your job here, stay away from Mr. Jareth.â She glared at Evadne, her eyes seemingly spitting fire.
Evadne furrowed her delicate eyebrows and waved her hand in front of her nose. The overpowering perfume was giving her a headache. She wasnât sure if Jareth also found the perfume too overpowering.
âSo what if I donât do as you say?â Evadne asked nonchalantly, not even bothering to look up.
âIâll file a complaint and get you fired.â
âComplain about me? Because youâre not happy that Jareth is talking to me?â
âYou!â The other womanâs face turned crimson with anger.
âWell then, go ahead and complain. You can take it up with our President Ashbourne. Heâll probably just tell you that youâre out of your mind.â âYou wench!â
The woman was uncontrollable with rage, reaching for the coffee on the table to teach this more beautiful woman a lesson.
But in the next moment, âAh!â Evadne quickly grabbed the coffee cup and splashed the entire contents onto her face.
The womanâs makeup was ruined, and her brand-new designer dress had been stained. Her l*ps trembled, and she was on the verge of tears, utterly devastated.
Evadne picked up a napkin and gently wiped away a drop of coffee that had splashed onto her hand. Her red l*ps curled into a smile as
radiant as a flower.
âBetween you and me, one of us was bound to get hurt, and it certainly wasnât going to be me.â
In the hallway, Jareth picked up a phone call.
âHey, Thad, whatâs up?â
âMrs. Jarethâs birthday is the day after tomorrow. Come with me to pick out a gift tonight, Iâm clueless.â
âOh come on, my mom treats you like her own son, sheâd cherish even a blade of gra** from you. Just pick something.â
âNo, you have to come with me tonight.â
âCanât do tonight, how about tomorrow? I have a date tonight.â
âCancel it.â
âIâve already promised her dinner, how can I stand her up? Thatâs just not gentlemanly.â
Jareth tapped his cheek with his tongue, took a moment to think, and realized that friendship shouldnât be too selfish. While he might not be
a gentleman, he certainly wasnât the type to do something bad behind a friendâs back.
If he were to do something, he would do it openly. So he cleared his throat, and said seriously, âJust so you know, my date tonight is with your ex-wife.â
Suddenly, silence fell on the other end of the phone. âHello, are you there?â Jareth checked his phone screen to make sure he hadnât been hung up on.
After a moment, Thaddeusâs cold voice came through the speaker, sounding as harsh as a gunshot. âAre you with Ilana now?â
