Chapter 69
Boomerang Love Online Novel
Chapter 69
Ronald put away his carefree attitude and propped his right foot on the chair. He looked at Naomi seriously and said, âCome on, tell me! What really happened?â
With Ronaldâs sudden display of seriousness and masculinity, Naomi revealed, âHe went to the cemetery
today.â
Ronaldâs face immediately darkened. âItâs been several years. Is he really that devoted? If he is, why canât
he treat you better?â
Naomi chuckled softly and said, âAlright, youâre taking this too seriously.â
The more Naomi laughed, the more displeased Ronaldâs expression became. It was clear that Brendan had given her a hard time after returning from the cemetery.
If he still had someone in his heart, Brendan should have thought twice before agreeing to this marriage.
How could he marry someone and then leave them aside? That was just nonsense.
With a cold expression, Ronald said, âNaomi, stand up for yourself. How can you be so certain about the fortuneâtellerâs words without giving them a chance? Do you truly have to stay with Brendan for the rest of your life?â
Ronald showed a rare serious and stern demeanor as he attempted to reason with Naomi. She simply tried to placate him by saying, âAlright, Iâll leave him.â
Once Naomi agreed to leave Brendan, Ronaldâs complexion improved.
They chatted and ate for a while longer. Then, Naomi wiped her hands on a tissue before standing up
from the sofa.
âIâm going back. You should rest early.
Ronald also stood up and asked, âWhy are you going back? Is someone waiting for you? Or are your planning to spend the night with someone?â
Naomi was speechless.
She turned around and kicked his leg. âDo you want to sleep here or not?â
Ronald patted his leg and said, âHurry up and take a shower. You should get some rest too.â
Ronaldâs reminder made Naomi realize that there was no point in going back, so she simply stretched and
headed to the bedroom.
With his hands in his pockets, Ronaldâs expression improved when he saw that Naomi had given up on the idea of going back.
Meanwhile, Brendan had already left Chloeâs residential area. He parked his car on the side of the road.

âBrendan, I understand. Even if you donât say anything. I wonât call the police.â
âBrendan, Chloe saved us. Sheâs an innocent victim in this accident. Sheâll be in my place if I canât survive this ordeal. Please take care of her.â
With his left hand resting outside the car window, Brendan lit a cigarette and took a puff of it.
Memories came rushing back, and his expression grew increasingly somber.
After finishing the cigarette, Brendan finally started the car and headed toward Yellowind Bay.
When he arrived home, Jennifer happened to be coming in from the backyard. She greeted him in surprise, âMr. Ludwig, youâre back!â
Brendan gave a noncommittal hum in reply and headed upstairs. But Jennifer suddenly called out to him.
Mr. Ludwig.â
Brendan stopped in his tracks and turned around. Jennifer hesitated before telling him, âMrs. Ludwig has just left.â
After saying that, Jennifer tried to cover up for Naomi. She said, âMrs. Ludwig seemed very anxious when
she went out just now. It must be an urgent matter.â
Brendanâs expression changed drastically. He took out his phone from his pocket and dialed Naomiâs
number.
It was a recurring pattern. He would leave home, and she would follow shortly afterward. This wasnât the first time this had happened.
Watching Brendan head upstairs, Jennifer sighed deeply.
Meanwhile, Naomi stretched lazily and headed to the bedroom.
Not long after, her phone on the sofa began to ring.
With his left hand in his pocket and a beer in his right hand, Ronaldâwalked over to the phone. Seeing that
the call was from Brendan, his expression darkened.
He threw the halfâempty can of beer into the trash can before bending down to pick up Naomiâs phone.
The phone was still ringing.
Ronaldâs expression turned cold. He didnât hesitate to hang up the call.
Wasnât Sophia still in Brendanâs heart? And he had Chloe too. They should be more than enough.
After rejecting the call, Ronald also turned off Naomiâs phone.
On the other end, Brendanâs expression grew darker when he saw that the call had been rejected.
Entering the bedroom, he loosened the collar of his shirt and dialed Naomiâs number again. However, he only heard the serverâs automatic message from the other end.
âSorry, the number you have dialed is currently switched off. Please try again later.â

Naomi had turned off her phone.
This made Brendanâs expression even more gloomy. He threw his phone at the wall.
This frustration gnawed at him, and he couldnât shake it off all night. He could barely sleep that night.
The next morning, he changed into a suit and left the house with a dark expression.

In another room, Naomi also woke up.
She stretched and walked out of the bedroom. She found Ronald tinkering around in the kitchen.
When he saw her, he was in the middle of eating something. So, his words were muffled as he said, âTidy
up and have some food. Iâve ordered takeout for you.â
Naomi yawned and replied, âYou can brag about cooking when you actually do it yourself.â
With food in his mouth, Ronald mumbled, âI would cook, but you wouldnât dare to eat it!â
Naomi asked, âSince you have nothing to do, can you help me take my clothes to the dry cleaners later?â
Ronald answered, âIâll make sure to get it done for you.â
Ronald avoided mentioning anything about Brendanâs phone call the previous night. He didnât bring up the fact that he had turned off her phone either.
So, in the evening, when Naomi was getting off work, she was surprised to see Brendanâs car parked
outside her law firm.
Noticing that Brendan was sitting in the car and watching her closely, she calmly approached him and
asked, âAre you here for a case?â
Brendan looked up and said coldly, âNaomi, are you looking forward to filing your own divorce case now?â
Naomi chuckled and said, âIâm ready for anything, whether itâs giving birth to your child or dividing your
property!â
Her indifference made Brendan scowl in disdain. âGet in the car.â
Naomi leaned against his car window, raised an eyebrow, and teased, âI only meet men in bed. Have you thought it through?â
