Chapter 578
Master of his heart (Brielle and Max)
âThis âlittle souvenirâ is from Max, and if you donât believe me, go and ask him yourself. He and I connect on a soul level. You? Youâre just his fling, a flash in the pan. When you used those cheap tricks to snag him, you sealed the deal on a relationship thatâs skinâdeep at best. Itâs only a matter of time before he gets sick of you.â
After Alivia spat out her venomous words, she wanted to bask in Brielleâs breakdown, but Brielle was way too composed, which made Alivia look like a complete fool. She couldnât believe Brielle didnât care at all. She mustâve been pretending, right?
Of course, what she had said was a lie. Max was always guarded around women, so how could he have let her get that close? She made up the whole thing, knowing Brielle wouldnât bother to check the story with Max. As long as it wasnât verified, it might as well be true.
âSo, he kissed you?â Brielle chuckled lightly. âI canât be bothered to verify whether thatâs true or not.
And even if it is, what of it? Anything he hasnât done with you, he does with me every single night. But I donât parade it around because itâs just another mundane detail.â
Aliviaâs face turned ashen, her chest quivering with rage. She was utterly humiliated!
But the fact was, Max and Brielle indeed has sex!
Brielle even unbuttoned the top button of her blouse, revealing a dusting of pink marks underneath.
âMax bit you, Ms. Alivia? That mustâve hurt. He wouldnât dream of being so rough with me.â
Her words were a low blow. Brielle was repulsed by her own pettiness after saying it. But Alivia had asked for it, barging in like that while Brielle was in a foul mood, making herself a perfect target. She deserved it.
é The marks were faint pink, a testament to tenderness, to how cherished she was. In stark contrast to the bite, they were like countless slaps across Aliviaâs face.
Shaking with anger and not knowing how to respond, Alivia was snapped back to reality by Marthaâs voice from inside the room. âAlivia, if youâre here, come on in. Why waste time talking to nobodies?â
Alivia, struggling to keep her composure and not fall apart on the spot, shot Brielle a hateful glare, took a deep breath, and walked inside with a forced smile.
Brielle stood still, overhearing Marthaâs voice again. âAlivia, let me look at you; have you lost weight? I told the doctors not to worry you about my condition. Youâve got your hands full with work. I hear the institute has started to accept applications?â
âMartha, no matter how busy I am, Iâll always make time to see you.â
Marthaâs face was all smiles, trying to dispel the gloom Max had brought her. She glanced out the window, noting that Brielle was no longer there. âAlivia, has someone been giving you trouble?â
12.07 Alivia didnât answer right away, instinctively turning to Max.
Max stood unflappable, his voice rich and deep. âBrielle doesnât start fights.â The implication was clear:
if you got bullied, you were asking for it.
Having been humiliated by Brielle and now belittled by Max, Aliviaâs eyes reddened instantly.
Martha was livid, nearly fainting with frustration. She took Aliviaâs hand and patted it reassuringly.
âAlivia, darling, I heard you asked the cook to prepare some soup. Why donât you check on it? Max and I need to finish our conversation. Remember, donât waste your time chatting with the riffâraff outside.â
Alivia nodded, her eyes still red but her face composed. âMax, Iâll step out.â
Max gave a noncommittal grunt, clearly not interested in further dialogue.
Alivia clenched her fists at her sides as she left, her eyes seething with resentment.
