Chapter 569
Master of his heart (Brielle and Max)
This kind of disgraceful practice was nothing new in the corporate world. Celebrities were just numbers to be crunched, and artists, with no rights to speak of, were merely pawns in the game.
âThereâs no need for that. If thereâs nothing else, go ahead and do as I say,â Brielle said with a nonchalant tone. She pondered for a moment before slightly lifting her gaze. âIf the companyâs coffers are dry, then letâs withhold all the executivesâ Christmas bonuses this year. Weâll save tens of millions that way. We can invest it in a new TV series, get a highâprofile actor to lead, and cast our upâandâ
coming talents in supporting roles. Problem solved, right?â
âBrielle, youâve gone too far! First, you cut down our staff, and now you want to take our Christmas bonuses too?!â
An executiveâs Christmas bonus could be in the millions, and many had been eagerly awaiting that moment.
Brielle scoffed, her sharp edge rivaling that of Max. âIf you had actually contributed to the company over the years, I might have reconsidered. The funds from Dorsey International have dwindled to nearly nothing for talent investment, and as for where the rest went, youâre more aware of that than I am. If you donât like it, thereâs the door. In fact, Iâm not too pleased with the current leadership as is.â
âYou!!â Keagan was livid, well aware that Brielle was playing her veto card, and couldnât care less about anyoneâs opinion.
Damn her! Where did she get this audacity?
He feared that if he said one more word, a resignation letter would really smack him right in the face.
His complexion shifted from red to white, but eventually, he reined in his anger. âMs. Haywood, donât burn all your bridges. After all, we might cross paths in the future. Couldnât we still be friends?â
Brielleâs eyes, coldly clear, met his. âI never planned on being friends with any of you.â
Keagan was left speechless, trembling to the point he feared he might drop dead from rage right there.
He turned on his heel and stormed out of the office, slamming the door behind him with a resounding thud.
Once he was out, the remaining executives quickly clustered around.
âWhat happened? Did she really say sheâs firing all those people?â
âThis is insane! Who does that? If everyone leaves, sheâll be the last one standing in the company!â
Keagan snorted, stirring up their resentment towards Brielle. âMs. Haywood said itâs not enough to just fire people. All our Christmas bonuses are canceled, to be funneled into the TV series. If youâre not on board, you might as well leave now.â
11:08 âWhat? Our Christmas bonuses?!â That was everyoneâs sweet slice of the ple she was messing with.
âHow dare that⦠that woman! Together, our bonuses must total over ten million. What gives her the right?â
Keagan waved his hand resignedly. âSomeone must be backing her. Just do as she says, or weâll be the ones to suffer.â
Keaganâs shift in attitude was due to the task he had been burdened with. While his backers hadnât revealed their identities, their tone had made it clear he couldnât defy them. Besides, the money was good, too good to cut off his own cash flow. So, while he had ignited their rage, he had no personal stake in it and left them to their fury.
After Keagan departed, the others were left seething.
âThat little hussy probably seduced Keagan, too.â
âRemember how Keagan treasured his office? How did she just take over and make him move out without a fuss?â
âBet she hooked up with him on her very first day. Wonder if the folks at Dorsey International know how âcharmingâ their little protégé is.â
âLetâs go straight to Dorsey International and complain! Iâve got connections there. We could get an audience with Mr. Dorsey himself.â
They quickly agreed that this was a solid plan. Brielle thought she could wield her temporary power, but theyâd expose her actions to the higherâups and reveal her true colors.
Plus, once Mr. Dorsey learned sheâd secured her position at Stellar Stage Entertainment only through the influence of other executives at Dorsey International, they were sure heâd realize her true nature and be done with her.
If her backer turned on her, Brielle might even lose her job. And once she was out, they would make her pay for all the indignities they had suffered.
Oh, theyâd make sure sheâd regret crossing them.
