Chapter 219
Master of his heart (Brielle and Max)
Noah had been harboring a crush on Alivia for years, and he agreed to this business trip mainly because it offered a chance to see her. But deep down, he knew that Alivia dreamed only of tying the knot with Max.
âBrielleâs reputation is in the gutter. I canât believe Mr. Dorsey would be blind enough to fall for her.â
Noah mused to himself.
Alivia breathed a sigh of relief at the thought that the rumors must be false, âOnce youâve settled things with my friend. Iâll come back home with you.
A flicker of joy passed through Noahâs eyes, âGreat.â
Alivia, however, couldnât shake her unease. It seemed she had to fastâtrack her engagement with the Dorseys to ward off any unworthy suitors who might have their eye on Max.
During her trip back home, she was determined to convince both families to move forward with the engagement.
She played with the bracelet around her wrist, a habit she picked up from Max. Mimicking his gestures somehow made her feel closer to him.
Although she was aware of Noahâs affection for her, her heart belonged to Max, and Max alone.
âNoah, I need a favor,â she said.
Noah blushed at her request. Coming from a wealthy family, he had eyes only for Alivia and would do anything to help her. âJust name it.â
âI want you to pursue Brielle. Someone sent me an anonymous message, and I canât shake this feeling.
You know how long Iâve waited for Max, and I canât afford any complications. If Brielleâs personal life is as messy as they say, maybe sheâs eyeing Max? With your looks and family background, it should be easy for you to win her over, right? And after that, you can just dump her. It wouldnât be a loss for you.â
Noah didnât ponder whether Aliviaâs tactics were fair or foul. To him, it was an honor to be entrusted with such a task. âDonât worry, Iâll have her wrapped around my finger within a week.â Aliviaâs lips curled slightly. âIâll handle things with my friend. You should head back home. Give me no more than two weeks, and Iâll have a definite answer for you.â
âAlright, take care, Alivia.â
Unbeknownst to Brielle, she had become Aliviaâs target. After sorting out her move, Brielle returned a call to the police department..
In less than two days, she had settled into her new place, taking some time off work due to an overly passionate encounter with Max that still left her private part sore.
In the afternoon, she finally decided to visit the hospital. As she lay on the examination bed, the 14:21 doctorâs expression grew stern. âMiss, do you need us to call the police for you?â
Brielle blushed with embarrassment, making up an excuse, âItâs just my boyfriend. He can be a bit overzealous.â
The doctor looked unconvinced and noticed Brielleâs discomfort, his brow furrowing slightly. âHereâs your prescription. Remember, itâs important to respect yourself.â
Her cheeks reddened further as she left the office, overhearing a couple of doctors gossiping.
âLast monthâs case was even more outrageous. These young people today really donât know their limits.â
âRight? They should find a decent boyfriend instead of hooking up with some rich kid. They get the cash but lose their health.â
Brielleâs head buzzed with irritation, mentally cursing Max as she rushed out of the hospital.
âOof!â
Turning a corner, she bumped into someone, her nose throbbing from the impact as her medicine scattered on the floor.
âIâm so sorry,â she murmured, bending to pick up the pills. But the man was quicker, his fingers. tensing as he recognized the medication and spotted the gynecology sign behind her. Handing them back, he muttered, âNo harm done.â
Brielle looked up to see a young manâs face, one that seemed vaguely familiar.
