Released
Dealer's Girl
Madi POV:
I didn't hear any news until the following day. Jack was arrested for drug possession, theft and for framing Lexi. Lizzie and Liv slept over at my house and the minute the station opened I was gonna go down there and sign Lexi out.
Liv and Lizzie dropped me off at the station, they were gonna wait for us to come out.
I walked inside.
"Hello?" I walked up to the counter.
"Hello, how may I help you?" The lady smiled.
"Uh, I'm here to sign someone out." I said.
"Alright, their name?" The lady asked, typing on her computer.
Crap, is it Alexa or Alexis? I don't want to get her in trouble for a fake ID.
"Alexis Williams?" My answer came out as a question.
The lady looked up at me.
Uh oh.
"She was released an hour ago." The lady told me.
"She was?" I questioned.
"Yes." The lady nodded.
"By who?" I then asked.
"I'm sorry, I can't disclose that information." The lady apologized.
"Okay, uh, thank you." I turned and left the station.
Lizzie and Liv watched me from the car as I came out alone.
"What happened?" Liv asked.
"Did they say you couldn't sign her out? I will go in there and punch every officer I see-" Lizzie rambled.
"No! It's not that...she's not here." I told them.
"Is she at another station?" Liv asked.
"No. She was released an hour ago." I answered.
Our next stop was Lexi's apartment.
"Are you sure you don't want us to go with you?" Lizzie asked.
"I'll be fine. I'll call you if I need you. Thank you again." I got out of the car.
"Remember, kick the dick." Lizzie pointed at me.
My eyes went wide. "Okay?"
I walked inside the building as I heard them drive off.
I slowly made my way to the fourth floor and stood outside. I was suddenly nervous. What if she wasn't here? Who could've signed her out? Maybe those guys Max and Henry. But did they even know she was arrested?
I knocked on the door.
Deep breaths.
It opened about five seconds later. Lexi stood there, staring at me with a surprised expression.
"Madi?" She muttered my name.
I didn't say anything but wrap my arms around her neck and hug her tightly.
Her arms wrapped around my waist and we stood like that for a long time.
When we pulled away my hands went on her cheeks and I stared into her eyes.
The thought of her getting locked away in jail really moved me to realize how much I loved her. Even if I still am a bit mad she lied to me.
"Who signed you out?" Were my first words.
Lexi moved to the side and my eyes landed on someone I did not expect to see.
"Mary Ann?" I muttered.
Lexi POV:
Madi was jaw dropped as she stared at Mary Ann.
"Sucks she made us memorize her number." I told her.
"Madison." Mary Ann stood with a smile. She moved forward and the two hugged.
You're probably wondering what the hell happened in the past eighteen hours.
First, I'm arrested for drug possession and drug selling.
Next, I get into the station and tell them nothing.
Then, I get one call. I tried to remember Madi's number but my mind went blank and I turned to the only number I remembered: Mary Ann's.
After that, I get told that someone else was arrested and framed me. They asked if that was true and I obviously said it was.
Finally, Mary Ann comes in, signs me out and we get back to my place.
What an interesting time.
"How did you know I was arrested?" I asked.
"I heard a bunch of sirens yesterday." Madi faced me again. "I saw them arrest you."
"Alexis, I'm very disappointed with you. You lied to me and then sold drugs. That is not what I taught you." Mary Ann crossed her arms.
"I'm sorry." I apologized.
"She lied to you?" Madi faced Mary Ann.
Shit, I forgot to tell her that part.
"She told me she was adopted six years ago by a lady named Wendy Monroe. You're telling me I had a pretend phone conversation with you?" Mary Ann glared at me.
"No. You had a pretend phone call with a computer. I typed what I wanted to say and the computer repeated it in a woman's voice." I shrugged.
"So you knew she didn't run away?" Madi looked at Mary Ann.
"She told me to tell you that." Mary Ann sighed.
"You did?" Madi looked at me.
"Okay, we're pointing a lot of fingers. How about this? We're all safe and alive." I smiled.
They continued to glare at me.
"How am I safe and alive? I was told someone framed me." I furrowed my eyebrows.
"Jack." Madi said.
"Jack?" I repeated.
"Who's Jack?" Mary Ann asked.
"Some dumbass I sold to." I shrugged.
Mary Ann sighed, sitting down.
"How did he frame me?" I asked Madi.
"Uh...Lizzie, Liv and I kinda framed him." Madi was playing with her shirt.
"What!?" Mary Ann gasped.
"How?" I questioned.
"When I was at school yesterday, Jack noticed I was 'upset' and I just said you and I weren't on speaking terms and he was like 'she'll get what's coming for her'. Then you get arrested and I called Liv and told her and Lizzie to come over. I told them you were arrested and that you were actually my best friend from Maryland. I said how I found out recently and I was really upset with you. Then I told them how I think Jack called the cops on you. They had Chase and Matt take Jack out of his house and we broke in and then we searched his room and found tons of pills under his bed and Lizzie found some things from her house that he stole. Then! Then he had this drawing, a layout of your house and where you kept your drugs so we figured it would look like those were the spots he planted the drugs. Then we called the police on a payphone and anonymously reported him and he was arrested and you were freed." Madi explained the entire thing, leaving Mary Ann and I in shock. "Nothing bad."
"Nothing bad?" I repeated.
"You two really are meant for each other." Mary Ann sighed. I also told her that we kissed.
"I couldn't bear the thought of not seeing you again. Even if I really was mad that you lied." Madi crossed her arms as she looked at me.
"I should've told you. I'm sorry. But..." I stepped closer to her. "...thank you. I'd be stuck in there if it weren't for you."
"You're welcome." Madi stared at me.
I smiled at her. "You can hate me if you want, but I want you to know something."
"What?" She asked.
"I love you." I whispered.
Madi's eyes widened and her crossed arms dropped to her sides. "What?"
"I love you, Madison Jones. I've loved you for a long time and nothing will ever change the way I feel about you." I grabbed her hands.
Her cheeks turned pink as she tried to keep the smile off her face.
"You don't have to tell me if you want to still be mad at me, but I wanted you to know." I said.
"I love you too, Lexi." She smiled. "I forgive you. I don't want to because I still want to be mad at you, but I can't. Because my love for you is overpowering my hate."
"Can I kiss you?" I tilted my head.
"You'd be crazy not to." Madi smiled and then we kissed.
When we pulled away I remembered Mary Ann was sitting on my couch.
But she had a smile on her face.
"I'm glad you both admitted your feelings." Mary Ann stood. "You two were my girls. You'll always be my girls." She put her hands on our shoulders. "I have to get back to Maryland, I don't think Samantha can control those kids on her own."
"Who's Samantha?" I questioned.
"Her co-parent." Madi smirked.
"I can't control those crazy kids without you two." Mary Ann smiled. "Stay out of trouble. I mean it."
"We will." Madi nodded.
"She will." I nodded. Mary Ann gave me a hard look. "Fine, we both will."
"Stop dealing drugs because I will not bail you out of jail again." Mary Ann stared at me.
"I'll stop." I sighed.
"Good. Find a new job and live happily ever after. Then I'll know I did something right." Mary Ann continued.
We all shared a big hug.
"Thank you, for coming out and rescuing me." I told her.
"You're welcome, Alexis." Mary Ann smiled.
Once she left Madi kissed me again.
"Woah, slow down, sunshine." I pushed her shoulders back.
"I just really missed you." Madi put her hands on my cheeks.
"I really thought I'd never seen you again. Again." I chuckled.
"I can't believe I committed a crime." Madi closed her eyes.
"You didn't do anything wrong in my books." I shrugged.
She gave me a look. "Your books are already illegal."
"True." I nodded. I walked into my room.
"Where are you going?" Madi followed me.
I reached into my nightstand and pulled out the necklace I got her and the two bracelets. I held out her half of the butterfly bracelet.
She put it on and I put mine on.
"Can I put this back on you?" I asked, holding the necklace up.
She turned around and lifted the hair off her neck as I put the necklace on.
"I finally feel like I can breathe again." Madi sighed.
"Me and you both. Now, I need a shower." I grabbed a towel and headed towards the bathroom. "Wanna join?"
The look on Madi's face was priceless.
"I was just kidding." I laughed. "Just hang out here, I'll be out in ten."
I turned on the shower and was in for about two minutes before there was a knock on the door.
"Yeah?" I called out.
"Can I join you?" Madi asked.
