Chapter 187
A Farewell After Being Reborn
Sage was perplexed. âWhat are you on about? I just sent you some rough information.â
âCut the act,â he teased. âIan seems to be treating you well. He doesnât look like heâs going to dump
you.â
âMr. Morrison, could you just get to the point?â
Shane crossed his legs and said lazily, âI just got word that Professor Braun has decided that youâll be
in charge of their drug promotion and distribution.â
Sage was stunned. âHowâs that possible? Are you sure?â
She had just met with Collin yesterday, and he clearly wanted to work with Holcomb Corporation.
Besides, Ivy also went to negotiate with them. How could he have decided to hand the project over to
her after just one day?
Shane snorted. âMy sources are never wrong. Either Ian cares a lot about you, or heâs giving you this
as compensation because heâs going to dump you.â
Sage couldnât be bothered to respond. Instead, she asked, âHowâs the thing I asked you to do? âShe
realized that they would need to expedite the matter if Collin really gave her the distribution rights.
Shane grinned when he heard her question. âDonât worry, Ms. Joyner. Iâll take care of it. They will
willingly walk into our trap.â
âThanks⦠Iâll catch you later.â Sage hung up the phone and immediately dialed Ianâs number.
The phone rang for several moments, and just when she thought Ian wouldnât answer, deep voice
came through the phone. âWhatâs up?â
his
It was especially quiet on his end, and he sounded like he had something else to attend to.
âAre you in a meeting? I can call you back later,â she asked.
âJust get to the point.â
âFine.â Sage cut to the chase. âAre you seriously going to let me have the distribution rights to
Professor Braunâs drug?â
âDamn, word travels fast,â he remarked. âI thought you wanted it.â
So it was true! She did want it, but why would he give her the project just because she wanted
it?
âBut-
A representative from Professor Braunâs research institute will get in touch with you. I have something
else to do right now, so I have to go.â With that, he hung up.
Ivy looked at the man in front of her. âWas that Mrs. Holcomb? Are you really going to give her
Professor Braunâs project?â Ian set his phone down and remained silent.
Ivy suppressed her emotions. âIan, werenât you the one who asked me to handle the negotiations and
followâups just two days ago? Why did you suddenly hand it over to Mrs. Holcomb?â
âYou can focus on the other projects then. Leave Professor Braun to Sage.â
âDonât you think you still owe my team and me a convincing reason?â she insisted.
âI donât have any reasons. Weâve already agreed to invest in Professor Braunâs research institute.
Weâre just having Sage handle the operations. Thereâs no conflict of interest there.â
âBut this is MY project! Even if Sage acquires the distribution rights, the profits will not benefit Holcomb
Corporation!â Tears welled up in her eyes. This was the first time she had ever argued with Ian about
work.
He looked at Ivy coldly. âItâs just a pharmaceutical project. Its profits are limited. Even if other
companies invest in it, our share will not decline. Why are you so set on this?â
âWhy am I so set on this? Do you seriously not know why?â she asked with teary eyes.
