Her Beta Chapter 8: Trouble and THAT word

Her Beta

Chapter 8:

"Adam is being really possessive, and it is getting so annoying!" Elliot whined as he collapsed onto the mattress of my bed. I lightly chuckled as I collapsed beside him and turned my head to face him.

"What did your 'amazingly perfect' mate do now?" I sighed as I lay my hands across my stomach lightly. Elliot sighed before he turned his head to face me. The small scowl from Elliot informing me that he hated that I was using one of his previous descriptions of Adam against him.

"At first it was just him simply tightening his hold on my hand when we would pass another male, but now he's pulling me into him and shielding me with his body while he growls each time a male comes within a foot of us. He's being ridiculous!" Elliot exclaimed suddenly leaping from the bed and pacing exasperatedly.

I just sat up and watched as my best friend paced back and forth muttering incoherent things about Adam and his constant actions. Elliot had always had trouble with relationships before now. He wanted someone who would be attentive to him and be ever willing to cuddle with him, but he also, unconsciously, wanted someone who would not suffocate him and his colorful personality. It now seemed that Elliot was feeling that Adam was becoming a little too suffocating for him. And it has been merely two weeks since they arrived here.

I sighed a deep breath before jumping to the floor. I began to walk to the door, my best friend not noticing my absence until I'd reached the doorknob. "Where are you going?! You're best friend is in serious need of friend time and you're just walking out on him?!" Elliot questioned as a look of hurt appeared upon his face.

"No, I'm going to fix my best friend's problem by kicking the arse of his mate until said mate sees sense. I may not be jumping onto Oliver every time he walks into a room, but I am starting to be comfortable enough with him to be willing to sleep in the same bed as him. Heck, I'm starting to not be able to sleep at all unless he's in the room! And I know that if I don't do something right now, I won't sleep at all tonight because you'll be pouting in here as my mate is forced to sleep in a different room to accommodate you being in here." I answered as I turned back to the door and opened it before walking into the hallway.

Elliot immediately began to trail after me as I searched for Adam. I could hear the constant muttered complaints about talking to Adam and hushed teasing aimed toward me as they streamed out of Elliot's mouth while we walked around the pack house. My eloquent response was to roll my eyes and keep searching. We finally found him in the kitchen as he was slicing up ingredients to make a sandwich. Upon the two of us entering the kitchen, Adam's head shot up as he looked at his mate, a smile immediately slipping easily onto his lips.

"Adam," I spoke getting his curious gaze immediately, "you need to stop being suffocatingly possessive over Elliot. You are driving my best friend to be distant from you, and we both know that is not your intent. I understand to that you just don't want anyone else to take your mate from you, but not every male is trying to. Most of the males here couldn't give a care about my best friend, probably believing him to be crazy."

"Hey!" Elliot interjected loudly.

I chose to ignore my best friend and focus on the male in front of me that had moved his gaze to his mate looking worriedly at him. The look of desperation in his expression was screaming for everyone to see. "You are desperate to not lose Elliot the way you lost your parents. Elliot told me. But the more possessive and suffocating you become with him, the more you're driving Elliot to want to spend nights apart, later leading to days apart. I love that my best friend has finally found the one person who can accept his oddity in stride and love him all the more for it, but I know my best friend well enough to tell you that suffocating him with your possessiveness isn't going to work the way you want it to." I advised as the look of desperation grew within Adam's expression.

Elliot was still standing behind me, hiding from how his mate might react to me speaking to him the way I was. I didn't care how he felt about me talking to him this way, all I cared about was that my best friend didn't start his mate relationship off with wanting to hide from his mate's suffocation. I also wanted Elliot to go make up with his mate, so I pulled him in front of me and pushed him towards his mate.

"Adam," Elliot started out slowly. "I know you don't want to lose me, but Lilith is right. I need you to not suf-!" Adam grabbed onto Elliot's arm hard enough to pull him into his embrace before holding his cheeks and kissing him, effectively cutting Elliot's words off. I chuckled lightly with a smile.

"Just so you know, that was me interrogating your mate to know if he was good enough for you. I approve. Now go and spend some time with each other, probably in your own room preferably, I'm off to find my own mate." I spoke before walking off with a chuckle at the red tint that began to worm its way onto my best friend's face as I spoke.

I walked back up toward Oliver and my room. I could hear voices as I grew closer to the room. I could hear Oliver's obvious voice and a female voice that I did not recognize coming from the open doorway of our room. I moved a little faster and stopped in the doorway of the room. Oliver stood angrily looking at the girl in front of him before his gaze shot to me upon noticing my scent. His expression softened as he looked at me, my head unconsciously tilting to the side in confusion and curiosity.

The female suddenly turned around upon seeing that his gaze was not on her, but behind her. She had pastel orange hair set in huge curls that lay to just above her shoulders, an unnatural tan upon her skin, and light brown eyes that were looking straight at me. A look of disgust rose upon her face as she looked at me. It was only then that I saw what she was wearing: a beige-white corset, matching underwear with matching thigh-tights hooked to the corset, and tall beige stilettos. She looked utterly horrible if I was being completely honest.

I could now see that she believed she could have my mate, or she thought she could get into bed with him, at the very least. I could also tell that Oliver wanted absolutely nothing with her. What was with these girls and trying to sleep with my mate? It was really becoming annoying the more it seemed to happen.

"What's going on in here?" I asked innocently. I had a plan to get her to leave Oliver alone, and I want to hear her state what it is she wants with my mate.

"The obvious act that happens between a guy and a girl once they're ready. So run along little bitch, you're not needed here." She replied with a flick of her wrist and a clearly disgusted look on her face.

I walked slowly into the room making my way to Oliver. The girl looked highly upset that I didn't listen to her. I just looked at her before grabbing Oliver's face and kissing him straight on the lips. His hands immediately grabbed onto my waist as he returned the kiss with fervor. I could feel the always evident sparks that happened whenever we touched explode as we kissed each other. I broke away only to turn and look at the girl still standing there.

"He was already ready. I mean he seemed pretty ready all last night and the day before. I haven't been so sure about being marked because I'm not sure how comfortable I would be with having him in my head, but that doesn't mean we didn't have any fun. His scent doesn't stick to me or mix with my own for long because he hasn't yet marked me, but he's amazing in bed." I spoke evenly. She looked beyond annoyed, growing even more so as I continued to speak. "Go bug some other person, I'm ready for my mate again and I'd rather you weren't here watching like a sick pervert." I spoke looking her up and down.

She scoffed before she stomped her way out of the room, slamming the door as hard as she could. I turned to look at a stunned Oliver. I smiled before it became a huge laugh, and before I could stop it, I was laughing as loudly and out-of-control as I could get. Oliver wasn't sure what was happening, but he just smiled brightly at me. He still kept a tight hold of my waist.

"Not that I'm complaining, but what was that kiss for?" Oliver asked in a hesitant tone. My laughter began to subside as I looked into his curious gaze. I smiled before biting my lip nervously.

My eyes slowly drifted over his curious expression. My head tilted as I studied him from his strong jawline to his shining eyes to his slightly crooked nose. I could see that he was about to say something when I pushed myself up and kissed him again. I don't know anything about kissing or if I was even doing anything correctly, but I do know that he was kissing me back. I could feel the light breeze as I was pushed up against the cold wall gently by Oliver, not once breaking the kiss.

I could feel as the kiss changed from slow and gentle to hard and passionate. Oliver didn't even have to ask for access, I just automatically gave it to him. The feeling of the electricity between us as we kissed was becoming addicting, and I began to want more of the electric feeling. I felt as Oliver's hands moved from my waist up to my shoulders and down my arms to my hands. He moved our combined hands up the wall and above my head.

He broke away from the kiss to look down into my eyes as we both try to catch our breaths. "I wanted to show that girl that you weren't anyone else's, but mine. Besides, I've wanted to do that for the past couple of days. I have an attractive mate and I happen to have become comfortable with him." I replied panting softly. Oliver just smiled as he looked at me. I looked down for a moment before slowly looking at back up to him. "I'm so comfortable with you that I've already begun to fall in love with you. And I don't anticipate stopping." I murmured quietly.

*******

I hope you liked this chapter!! I liked writing it because I got to write about Elliot again, there was trouble, and Lilith said those magic words!! I'm a romantic with a crazy mind, and I don't anticipate an end to that. The music at the top is True Colors- Trolls because it's beautiful!!

What do you think of Elliot and Adam? Yes, some of the females in Onyx have too much time on their hands. What's your favorite thing from this chapter?

Here's a key note that I'm not sure I'll actually put into this story because it isn't major, but I think you should know: Elliot's mate Adam is the third in command in the pack that Lilith's father is part of. Meaning that 'if' Lilith ever goes there, then she'll be in the same pack as Elliot and his mate.

Have a MUSICAL week!!
