Her Beta Chapter 5: Small Showdown

Chapter 5:

I could smell Oliver approaching quickly. I had arrived in the room a few minutes ago, and now I was merely sitting on the bed waiting for someone to walk through the door. I could hear that three additional sets of footfalls were following behind the hurried steps of my mate. I tilted my head and watched the door. I heard three of the four sets of footfalls stop in front of the door.

Oliver was the one to open the door and look at me. His expression showed that he was curious, yet happy to see me sitting on the bed. He carefully walked into the room as if he moved too quickly and I would bolt out of here. But it was click clack of heels that hurt my ears as Brittany walked into the room. I watched as she ignored everyone, pushing Audra rudely out of the way, and moved to Oliver, grabbing his arm again.

Her attention then made its way to the bed. She looked at me with distaste before she began to speak in her earsplitting, high-pitched, squeaky voice. "Look little slut, I understand you live for seducing the male species, but Oliver isn't interested in your ugly ass. You're going to have to go find some other high-ranking wolf to do you because Oliver is taken. I'm sure you can find someone, just ask the amazing Luna to help you find someone to screw." She said letting go of Oliver's arm and looking at me with hands on her hips. She smirked at her subtle insult.

I looked down for a second, making my quick decision. I look up at her as I hop off of the bed, never breaking eye contact, before I move as if I am going to walk around her and out of the room. But the minute I get a step past her, I grab her arm and shove it behind her back as far as I can get it without breaking it and shove her to her knees where I put pressure on her arm making her lean forward. I don't hesitate putting my knee on top of her leaning figure and put my weight on it. She tries to fight me off, but I push down harder on her and she stops with a cry of slight pain.

I move my head to be closer to her ear so that she catches my every word. "I'm glad that you can give yourself advice. I'm glad that you can figure out what you need to do for yourself seeing as Oliver has a mate, and you have no chance whatsoever of being with him." I say clearly. I know that everyone is watching with wide eyes and that they can hear my every word, but I don't care. I continue, "I honestly don't give a care in the world if you decide to call me names. I don't care if you spread terrible rumors about me at all after this. But you do not say such a horrid thing about your Luna. She is the mate of the alpha whether you and your little group of whores like it or not. You have no right to say such wrong and inexcusable things about your alpha female. If I ever hear anything like that again from you, you will be begging me not to break ever little bone in your body. Do I make myself clear?"

Brittany just whimpers in pain before nodding her head of bleach blonde hair frantically. I let out a deep breath before getting off of her. She sits there for a second before limply getting to her feet. She looks at me with a glare. "Don't worry, I'll make sure everyone knows that you're a slut that's trying to steal my mate, Oliver, from me. I'll make sure that everyone knows that you're just as much a willing slut as the girl pretending to be our Luna." Brittany whispered disgustedly.

She was falling to the floor knocked out the next second. My chest was moving with the force of my anger as I watched her lie on the ground. You could hear the grinding of my teeth, and I could feel the silvery blue invade as my wolf's eyes began to show themselves. Oliver immediately grabbed my right hand, the sparks igniting between our hands, looking it over to make sure that it was okay after the punch that I just threw.

"Are you okay?! Does your hand hurt too much?" Oliver fretted as he undid my finger from a fist and looked over my hand more thoroughly. I moved my gaze to him and felt my whole body begin to relax. My eyes went back to their normal color of swirling blue-green. I looked at his worried face and titled my head. He looked at me and sighed. "I thought I told you to stop doing that. You're too cute when you tilt your head like that." He said with a fake scowl on his face.

I rolled my eyes and shook my head. I took my hand back from his grip, effectively ending the constant array of sparks flying across my skin. "You did, it just didn't make any sense to me. And I am perfectly fine, but she may need a doctor because I hit her pretty hard and she's unconscious." I replied looking into his bright blue eyes as they widened.

"You talked?!" Oliver suddenly burst before he grabbed onto me and hugged me to him tightly.

"Yes, I did. Why is it so surprising that I would talk? Did you believe that I was mute or too scared to talk to you?" I asked pushing his arms off of me and crossing my own. He looked at me dumbstruck. I heard Vane chuckle before he 'oofed' in slight pain.

"No, no, no! I just wasn't sure when you were going to talk. I was just excited that you'd finally talked and that I could hear your amazing voice." He answered with a small smile. I raised an eyebrow at his comment of my voice. He laughed to himself before looking at my face again. "You've already beat up one person effortlessly, I'm just trying to not be the second person. But I really am happy that you're talking to me." Oliver smiled. I looked down, my cheeks turning red as my arms fell to my sides.

"Why did you just punch her?" Vane asked from behind us. Audra was looking down at the ground a little upset.

"I punched her because she just called your mate and Luna a slut that was willing to sell her body to anyone that wanted it. She implied that Audra would know where I could go to get laid because Audra is a slut that sells her body and isn't actually your mate. You just let her be Luna because she lets you use her body." I stated with a fake smile. Vane looked surprised as he looked down at Audra for a second before I saw realization dawn on him. Then his face transformed into one of absolute rage.

"Vane! Vane, baby, look at me." Audra urged grabbing onto Vane's cheeks and forcing him to look at her. Vane immediately began to soften his expression as he looked into Audra's eyes. She smiled at him when she noticed his shoulders relax from their tense position. "Vane, I know why you are with me. You love me because I am your mate and I am the only one you truly want to be with. I've heard those stupid rumors a billion times since I arrived here-" Audra spoke before Vane became pissed again upon hearing about the rumors and how long they have been going on.

"What?!" Vane gritted through his clenched teeth. You could see the wolf inside of him urging the shift upon the knowledge of disrespect to his mate. It was only natural for a wolf to want to defend their mate.

"But I know the truth. I know that the only person that I want to ever be with, emotionally, mentally, and physically, is you. I want you, Vane William Lakes, to be the only one I ever spend my life with. If I didn't, I would have run screaming by now." Audra finished laughing with Vane, who was calm once again. Vane grabbed onto Audra's face and kissed her feverishly. She smiled into the kiss and held nothing back. They pulled apart, but they had their foreheads resting against each other's.

"Why don't I show you just how you are mine?" Vane asked with a smile. Audra's face shined with happiness. It was a beautiful sight to watch, but Oliver's throat clearing made all the more funny. Because upon hearing the sound, Audra looked our way and her face immediately turned bright tomato red. Vane chuckled at this and picked his mate up bridal style before walking out the door toward, what I assume, is their room.

I lightly kicked Brittany. She was still completely out. I looked at the door when I heard someone coming down the hallway. A man in a white lab coat walked through the door with two other males around my age. All three looked at Brittany and then looked up at me. One of the boys then began smile at me. He moved a little so that he was a little closer to me.

"Now who are you little rogue? And how did you get in here? Don't worry Beta, I'm sure I can take care of this rogue." He said looking me up and down. I just raised one eyebrow and crossed my arms across my chest. I could hear Oliver's breathing begin to change from calm, slow breathes to angry, quick breathes. I could practically feel the rage build within him at what this male was suggesting.

"First off, I'm the rogue that kicked her ass for disrespecting Luna Audra. Second off, I got in here because I was carried in here by Beta Oliver. Third off, I'm not a slut that sells her body to a-" I counted off before looking him up and down. I scoffed softly before I brought my gaze back to his face. "Egotistical, ungifted male like yourself. I happen to be a very proud virgin. And finally, I'd shut your mouth and pray that your beta doesn't kill you." I said with a smile.

"And why do you believe the beta would kill me?" He asked cockily.

"Because you're getting far too close to me for comfort and suggesting inappropriate things, and I'm sure he doesn't appreciate all that when it concerns me, his mate." I replied ending with a fake whisper. His cocky expression melted away to a surprised and terrified one as he quickly looked behind me. Before I could look behind me, I was pulled back against a wall of warmth by my hips.

A shiver traveled down my spine as Oliver's warm breath feathered across the back of my neck. Oliver's hands slowly slid around my waist until it was his arms holding me in place. I could feel the sparks that ignited between us as I laid my hands across his. Oliver moved his head to be next to mine before whispering one word in my ear lowly, 'mine'. I smiled to myself as I realized just how much I actually enjoyed the position we were in and the possession that Oliver seemed to be showing over me.

I completely forgot about the terrified male in front of me before the man, who I assume to be the pack doctor, spoke. "Kaiden, would you mind helping Jaiden and I with Brittany? Unless you'd like to keep flirting with the young beta's mate, I'm sure he wouldn't appreciate that." He said despite the low growl that emanated from Oliver at the second sentence. Oliver's arms tightened ever-so-slightly around my waist at the doctor's last sentence.

Kaiden immediately jumped to helping. They quickly walked out of the room, the doctor shutting the door after them. Oliver's arms stayed locked around my waist. I relaxed into his arms and leaned back on him, his arms tightening even more as I did so. I just enjoyed the warmth that he emanated as we stood there in the middle of his room. After a few moments, I opened my eyes and turned in his arms. Oliver looked down at me once I was all the way turned around.

He just watched me. His eyes flitted over my whole face as if he was remembering my face. I stood looking into his blue eyes, wishing that I knew what was going through his head at this very moment. I unconsciously tilted my head to the side with curiosity. I could not understand why this boy was already so protective and possessive over me when he barely knew me at all. Hell, he doesn't even know my name. I could see that he was about to make a comment as he always did when I tilted my head at him.

"Lilith Alux." I commented never removing my gaze from his eyes.

"What?" He asked confused, his eyebrows furrowing as he looked at me for an answer to his question.

I laughed a little at his expression. "Lilith Alux is my name. Well my first and middle name, I don't really know what my biological surname is. I've never met my biological father, so I don't know." I answered with my head down before lifting my gaze back to his face. I saw the understanding bloom across his face. He began to smile. "You asked me for my name, and there it is." I smiled back at him.

"Lilith. I love it." He spoke with a smile. I smiled back at him, my hands resting on his biceps. "As much as I would love to repeat your name over and over again, I have to ask you why you are a rogue. And I have to know the truth about why you were out in that terrible winter weather when we ran into you." Oliver said his smile beginning to falter.
