So We Meet: Her Beta Chapter 3

Her Beta

Chapter 3: So We Meet

"Lilith. Lilith?" A familiar voice spoke as they walked through the front door of my home. They placed their coat on a coat hook near the door and removed their insolated, three-inch heeled boots. They walked further into the house, going first to the living room and looking around, searching for any sign of another person. They walked to the kitchen, opening the fridge and pulling out a bottled water. Then they proceeded to walk through the hall, searching.

They climbed the stairs when the ground floor revealed nothing. They searched the rooms on the second floor, growing irritated when they couldn't find what they were looking for. They finally walked into the master bedroom and removed the dress that they were wearing. They proceeded to grab clothes before entering the master bathroom and further stripping out of their clothes. They turned the shower on and climbed in. The feeling of the warm water cascading down the full length of their body was relaxing. They quickly washed themselves with body soap and then body wash for a smoother feeling. Shampoo that smelled like lavender and conditioner that smelled like coconut were applied to their long, naturally auburn hair slowly.

Once both the shampoo and conditioner were washed out, they proceeded to climb out of the shower and dry off. They dressed in a tank top, t-shirt, giant hoodie, and warm sweatpants. They brushed through their damp, tangled hair until all of the knots were out. They pulled their hair up into a bun before they put on a pair of fuzzy pink socks. They got up with a frustrated sigh.

"I thought I've told you that we can't go to bed angry. Actually I know I've always taught you that. So we need to talk about this right now." The voice spoke again, a frustrated tone evident and increasing with each word. They stood outside a normal brown bedroom door with a few posters taped to the front of it. Their frustration continued to increase along with their anger. Their anger began to boil even hotter despite the deep breathes they were taking to try to calm themselves down. Finally their anger could not be contained. "Lilith Alux Danes, you get your ass out here right this moment young lady! I will not ask you again!" They shouted, their anger practically searing their skin with its intensity.

"Lilith Alux Danes, now means now!" They shouted after a few moments of nothing happening. They forced the door open and stomped in. They searched around the room angrily, checking under the covers. They immediately got angrier as they stomped their feet hard enough to hurt to the closet. They slammed the closet door open, prepared to scream in anger until they noticed that no one sat in the closet. The only thing occupying the closet was a few formal dresses, a few special outfits, old sweatshirts, a few pairs of shoes, and a few old stuffed animals. But the person that they were searching for was not in that closet.

That was when the panic began to set in. It caused an uncomfortable twist in their gut. They immediately ran from the room. "Lilith! Lilith! Lilith! Sweetheart! Lilith!" The familiar voice screamed as they ran throughout the house in a panic, hoping that they would find who they were looking for somewhere ignoring everything that was going on in the house. They repeated to scream as they rushed down the stairs, their screams increasing with each moment that passed without any luck.

They stopped in the living room and closed their eyes, they took a deep breath and focused on the scent of the person they were searching for. They followed the scent to the front door. They snapped their eyes open. They quickly slammed the front door open running out into the heavily snowing night. They tried to think about which way the person would have begun to run in. They sprang into their wolf form, a form they were so used to shifting into that it no longer felt like anything. They took off, their large paws pounding into the snow as they raced to locate the one they had lost.

They ran without caring where they were going or what territory they were racing into. All they knew was that they couldn't stop searching until the one they had lost was found. They kept their senses open for the scent they were hoping to find. They didn't realize that they were being chased until it was too late and they were tackled into the snow by an even bigger wolf. The larger wolf was about to attack when fear caused them to shift back under the larger wolf.

The larger wolf immediately stopped growling, from either recognition of who this person was or the scent that they allowed to enter their senses. The larger wolf immediately shifted back to reveal a familiar man.

"Katherine?" The man asked unsure that what he was seeing before him was truly who he thought it was. Their heart rate immediately jumped at the sound of his voice saying her name. "My little mate, Katherine!" He cheered as he used one hand to pull them to him, immediately kissing them. They could feel the sparks that erupted when his lips met theirs.

"Nathaniel." They spoke when the kiss ended. That was the moment that realization crashed upon them. They realized that the one they had lost would only leave the house to track down Nathaniel because the lost one would have heard his name through the mind linked dream. "She was searching for you." They gasped as they lay back in the snow, not caring how cold it was. All they could think was that they had been caught and didn't know what to do anymore.

I slightly groaned as I began to come out of my mother's head and wake up. My mother knew why I was out in the cold weather now, she realized that I had been trying to find my father. But of course my luck was never that good. I instead found myself passing out in the cold night after finding my mate, my other half. At least I know that my father still wants my mother from the way he acted when he saw that it was my mother that he had tackled for trespassing.

"I don't care if you're alpha or not. I don't even care that you're my older brother. You will not touch her." A deep voice that sent chills down my spine demanded. I could smell the scent of my mate and one of the other wolves that had been surrounding me before I fell unconscious into my mate's arms. They weren't very close to wherever I was at, but they were getting closer.

"What is it with you? You know the rules that concern rouges. Why are you defending this one so badly?" The other wolf asked angrily. Their voices were still getting closer, as were their footsteps and scents. I immediately pulled myself up into a sitting position, finally realizing that I was in a very comfortable, very large bed in a very large bedroom. I immediately climbed out of the large bed, my feet lightly landing on a cold wooden floor as I heard them approaching.

I quietly ran to the bathroom, I looked at the only window in this bathroom and realized that I wouldn't make it very far in the blizzard that was raging on outside. I tuned into where my mate and the other wolf were, they were right outside of the bedroom door. I would never make it back to the bed before they walked in. Before I could decide what to do, they both walked into the bedroom.

"Little wolf?!" My mate's deep voice questioned worriedly. He must have noticed that I wasn't still lying in the bed. I took a deep breath and opened the bathroom door. There standing near the middle of the room was my mate and another male, both of their gazes locked onto my form. Before my mate could say anything upon seeing me, the other male came at me.

I quickly dodged him, ducking under his arm and quickly turning to face his back, ready in case he tried to attack me again. He turned to look at me confused. I sensed my mate getting closer to me. He got in front of me as if he was protecting me from the other male. The other male snapped out of his shock and became angry. He began to move angrily toward my mate. My personal and wolf instincts urged me in front of my mate before he could get hurt. I got in front of my mate, grabbed onto the other male's arm, and pushed him down to his knees with his arm stuck behind him in a too-quick-to-truly-see movement.

"What the hell?!" The male I was holding down yelled in surprise. I growled at him as he tried to get up.

"Wow, wow, wow! Calm down little wolf! He will not harm me." My mate said as I moved my gaze to him. He looked surprised. I looked at him skeptically, trying to figure out why he assumed that this male would not harm him. "He won't harm me because he is my older brother, Vane." My mate said to answer my confusion. I immediately let the male, Vane, go and took a step back tilting my head to the side.

"She shoves me down onto my knees and painfully holds me there, somehow in a span of seconds, and all you have to say is that I'm not going to harm you because you're my younger brother?!" Vane asks exasperated. He climbs to his feet and turns halfway to keep an eye on me. My head is still tilted to the side in curiosity.

"Stop doing that little wolf, you're too damn adorable when you do that." My mate comments as his bright blue eyes darken the slightest. My face just scrunches up in confusion. I don't know what I'm doing that I'd need to stop doing. "And Vane, of course I said that. Did you want me to leave you in that painful position because she didn't know who you were?" He asked his older brother.

"No, but why did she do it in the first place? And why are you so defensive of her? She's a rogue." Vane asked looking at me with an odd look in his eyes.

"I'm defensive and she attacked you because we're mates. And you and I both know that there is always different reasons that justify being a rogue. Don't forget Audra." My mate retorted back. I don't understand who this 'Audra' they are talking about is, but I don't really know anyone here, so I wouldn't. "Little wolf?" My mate asked as his gaze finally shifted to me. He smiled and hesitantly stepped closer to me.

He may be my mate, and I may be defensive for him, but that doesn't mean I trust him. I don't know him. All I know is that he has medium dark brown hair, bright blue eyes, and an older brother named Vane. I looked him up and down as he approached me, I took a step back when he got too close to me for comfort.

He seemed to take the hint. "My name is Oliver Thomas Lakes. I'm Beta to this pack as Vane is alpha. This is the Onyx Pack, weird name, but we didn't choose it." He told me with a smile. I actually liked the name of the pack, it sounded inordinary and creative. "What's your name, little wolf?" He asked me as Vane watched us.
