Moving: Her Beta Chapter 10

Her Beta

Chapter 10:

We stop a few steps after my question's been voiced. Oliver turns to look at me as I do the same to look at him. Oliver just chuckles at that and shakes his head as looks down at me with a smile. He grabs both of hands in his, the great warmth of his hands warming me all over. I look down at our hands to notice just how well they fit together.

"The extra bedrooms are for when there are little ones." Oliver responds with a smile. My eyes just widen as my head shoots up and my cheeks begin to burn pink. He chuckles lightly at my expression. "Sorry, that was pretty blunt. But the main purpose of the extra rooms is to ensure that our children have their own rooms. The rooms can be used for any other family members to live with us as well, but they would normally just take one of the other pack rooms in the whole other wing. This floor is for the Beta family as the top floor is for the Alpha family." Oliver explains further.

I nod in acknowledgement. I look around our floor and smile again. "I like our floor." I state with a growing smile. My gaze moves back to my mate to see that he's smiling down at me. But a thought comes to me and I'm afraid of how Oliver will react to it. "Oliver, I know it's really none of my business and you don't have to answer at all, but where are your parents and their beta?" I ask carefully.

Oliver scowls slightly, but smiles at me nonetheless. "The previous beta and his mate died along with my parents when a crazy rogue came barreling through our territory. He and a group of other rogues were chasing someone or other, and they came through our territory. The beta, his mate, and my parents were just a group of friends that went out for a double date. My brother was eighteen while I was fourteen, and we were the ones to find them when we went out to check on the borders and the guards that were in the middle of a change at the time. They were killed because they were there, not for power or revenge or anything of the sort. So my brother named me his Beta, and we did what we could to protect our pack. No rogue had ever entered our territory and not been immediately killed until the day you came stumbling into it with the snowy storm." Oliver says smiling at me. He looks sad because he misses his parents, but happy that I'd come stumbling into their territory.

I didn't say a word; I just removed my hands from his and hugged him. He chuckled before sighing and hugging me back. I knew that I would never recover if anything ever happened to my mom and, even if I didn't know him at all, my father. I could already feel the tears as they'd built up in my eyes as he'd been talking. Oliver began to pet my hair as a soft 'sh' passed his lips as he tried to calm me down from my soft crying.

My grip on him just tightened as I imagined what it must have been like for him. He had lost his parents and become the beta all in one shot at the young age of fourteen. It would be heartbreaking at any age, but he shouldn't have had to deal with all of that at fourteen years old. Despite that it was his sadness and his parents that had been lost, he was the one comforting me over the loss. But I didn't care because I didn't want Oliver to ever feel that kind of sadness and loss ever again. I could feel it as if it were my own, and it was heartbreaking.

"You're nineteen." I state as my crying dies down into mere sniffles and realization dawns on me. Vane is four years older than Oliver which means that Oliver is nineteen as Vane is twenty-three.

"Hm, I'll be nineteen in about a month. Vane is four years and a month older than me." Oliver states with a smile. I nod my head in understanding. "My mom's birthday was last month, exactly a month ago today. My dad's birthday the month before on the day after. My parents used to joke that that was on purpose. When's your birthday? I actually don't know a lot about you aside from what I've learned these past few weeks." Oliver says curiously.

"My birthday is the day after yours. My favorite color is the blue of your eyes, and I love my wolf form because it is white and gray, the opposite of yours." I state with a smile. Oliver grins widely anyway and spins me in his arms because of it. He sets me back on my feet before kissing me on the cheek. I just laugh with a smile on my face. "Can we move our stuff into our bedroom on this floor?" I ask hopefully. Oliver chuckles, but nods his head with a smile as I smile even bigger.

I grab one of his hands and begin to drag him behind me back up the staircase and onto the Alpha's floor. I listen for anything from Vane and Audra's room, but I hear nothing except heavy breathing. I continue to drag Oliver to our room. He just follows obediently behind me. I walk us into our room and drop his hand to run into the closet and begin to pack up all of the clothes into giant suitcases that I found in the closet as well.

I could Oliver as he gathered together things from the room and walked out from the room, presumably to put it in our new room. I put all of Oliver's shirts and pants into one giant suitcase, all of my shirts and pants that Elliot had gone and gotten for me into another giant suitcase, and I placed all of the underwear into another. I tried not to blush as I packed the last suitcase. I rolled all three out into the room to notice that the bedding had been stripped and placed neatly onto a chair. I could see that the bed had been taken apart and the place where the bed used to be was completely empty. I don't know how we moved all of that on his own so fast, but at least it was being put into our actual room.

I went back into the closet and began collecting the shoes into a bucket that was nearby. I pushed the bucket outside of the closet and went back in to see what else had to be taken out. But upon seeing nothing except empty shelfs and hanger racks, I walked out and into the bathroom. I began organizing our bathroom things into carrying bags. I put the soap, shampoo, and my conditioner into one carry bag. I placed our toothcare products into another bag and all of the extra stuff into the last of the carry bags.

I walk back into the room to see that the suitcases were gone as well as the bedding. I listened to know if Oliver was coming, but I only heard the soft, hesitant steps of Audra as she approached the door. I looked at the door as she slowly opened the door and looked within. Her eyes widened upon taking in the room before she turns to look at me. "You and Oliver moving out or something?" She asks looking around the room again as she steps in.

"Yes, we're moving out of this room and into our room on our floor." I state with a smile gracing my lips.

"So Oliver explained the floor arrangements to you." She says matter-of-factly. I just smile in response. She looks at me intently. "You like the idea of having your own floor with Oliver, don't you? You're smiling as if that's how you feel." She smiles back.

"I am. I've had to move so much with my mom, and I've never felt so special until I met Oliver and found out that I'm a Beta's mate and that we get our own floor where we can have our family. I love the idea of having a family that's more than just my mom." I tell her with a smile. She looks slightly confused. "My mom ran from my father before she even knew she was pregnant with me and I've never met him. The funny thing is that I'd been on my way to finally meet him when I got lost and came across this pack and Oliver, my Beta mate." I elaborate with a smile. She just nods in response.

"Do you want any help moving into your new room, or-" Audra asks before she's interrupted.

"No thank you Audra. I've gotten our bed, nightstands, bookshelves, and dresser already into our new room. As well as bringing our clothes and shoes into the room though they aren't unpacked yet." Oliver interrupts as he walks through the door. He smiles at the both of us before moving to stand behind me with his arms around my waist. "I want Lilith to put our stuff away the way she wants it. But I can take this stuff from you. I'll put these away in the bathroom for us. Then I'll be back up for the most important thing for our room, my mate and sweet Lili." He says before kissing my cheek and carrying the bags that he'd grabbed without my knowledge out the door.

I was smiling widely at the door that he'd just walked out of. 'Aw' suddenly sounded from the mouth of Audra, who'd I'd totally forgotten was still here. "The two of you are extremely cute. I love how whenever our mates are in a room with us, we focus solely on them as they focus solely on us. But I totally have to ask, are the two of you going to start a family any time soon? I'd like some nieces or nephews." Audra speaks.

"Not for a little while due to the fact that I'd like be here at least another week before sleeping with my mate." I state seriously. She nods in thought and agreement. She's still smiling. "Though I'll remember to shut the bedroom door and lock it before, that way it's not so- awkward- for anyone passing by the wing of our floor, and no one has to be evacuated from their current rooms at the time." I tease as her eyes go wide and her cheeks go tomato red in embarrassment.

"Audra, what's going on? Why are your cheeks so red? Is it something I did? Why is this room bare of furniture?" Vane asks looking worriedly at his mate before looking confusedly at the room he's standing in.

"She came into this room to find that Oliver and I are moving, or we've moved, our stuff into our room on our floor. So this room is bare because we've moved our stuff into our room. Her cheeks are red because of you, but it's only because the two of you forgot to shut your bedroom door and this floor had to be cleared out and cut off from the rest of the pack house." I respond before Audra can even open her mouth. Vane looks at me before his eyes go slightly wide and his cheeks become slightly pink. "Oliver should be up here for-" I begin before I'm shut up by my mate walking back into the room and to me.

Once he reaches me, he lifts me into his arms bridal style before turning back to his brother and mate-in-law. He smiles at both of them. "Hi big brother. I'm going to take my mate to our room and leave you to your floor as we settle into ours. And if you plan on going again, as I know you will once you've both eaten, make sure to shut your bedroom door this time. And lock it for good measure." Oliver says causing them to flush even darker. He just chuckles before carrying me out of the room.

Oliver carries me down the hall and down the stairs before setting me back down onto my feet. I immediately grab his hand with mine before he can even make a move to do so. He smiles down at me before pulling me along to our room. The door is shut when we approach it, but Oliver places his hand on the doorknob and twists it open.
