Chapter 4
The Whispers of A Baby (Yang Yuting ) Novel
Chapter 4 Whereâs My Sister?
âMadam, whatâs wrong? Are you feeling cold? Youâre shaking all over.â Hu Yue looked around, noticing that all the windows and doors were tightly closed, with no breeze.
Zhang Lingâs lips trembled, but she managed to say, âBring the wet nurse to feed the baby.â
The wet nurses had been prepared in advance. There were three of them in total.
But what surprised everyone was that the baby took one look and then suddenly vomited violently.
She spat out milk and coughed repeatedly.
The sight terrified the wet nurses, who dropped to their knees.
âMadam, Miss Yang refuses to drink my milk for some reason,â the wet nurse said anxiously, sweat breaking out on her forehead.
Not only did she resist drinking milk, but she even vomited anything that inadvertently went in.
âWaaah
âCough. I donât want human milk. Give me cow milk, goat milk⦠âYang Yuting wailed, but there were no tears in her eyes.
Zhang Ling cautiously suggested, âWhy donât we try goatâs milk or cowâs milk?â The household always kept goatâs milk handy, which tasted decent after removing the gamey flavour.
Hu Yue immediately instructed someone to fetch it.
In a short while, the baby was brought to the adjacent room.
Then a maid came to report. âMiss Yang drank several spoonfuls and fell asleep while eating. Sheâs asleep
now.â
Zhang Ling breathed a sigh of relief.
Zhang Ling asked for the child to be brought back to her sleeping quarters again. She dared not let the child out of her sight.
Yang Yuting let out a big yawn.
Being a baby and going through such a tough situation, she was already exhausted.
With a few bubbles coming out of her mouth, she mumbled a bit and then drifted off to sleep, snoring softly.
âHu Yue, youâre the only one I can trust, Zhang Ling said, sitting by the bed, looking somewhat mysterious.
She didnât want to doubt her husband.
But hearing her daughterâs thoughts today gave her a bit of courage.

close companion to Zhang Ling.
âYou find two reliable people and go to Cran Alley. Zhang Lingâs voice sounded strained.
âGo to Cran Alley and snoop around. My husband⦠might be there, Zhang Ling struggled to get the words out as if it took all her strength.
Hu Yueâs heart raced.
She glanced around the room after opening the door, then instructed, âJiang Ning, Xu Jia, you both stay three steps from the door and donât let anyone near.â
They came to this household with Zhang Ling, their fate was tied in her hands.
âUnderstood.â
Hu Yue quickly shut the door and rushed over to Zhang Ling. âMadam, why would you doubt Lord Yang? Is there something fishy going on?â she asked, sounding concerned.
For years, Zhang Ling had been wholeheartedly devoted to the Yang family and her husband.
You could say her husband was her everything.
Zhang Ling shook her head gently. âKeep it on quiet, donât let anyone catch wind of this,â she said, gripping her clothes tightly, her eyes filled with unease.
âDonât worry, Madam. Iâll disguise myself and take someone to check it out,â Hu Yue assured her, understanding the seriousness of the situation. She quickly arranged for someone to stay with Zhang Ling and rushed out of the room.
Zhang Ling sat there all afternoon, but Yang Mingrui never came.
The worry in her heart deepened.
âMother.. Iâm home! Whereâs my little sister? A burst of cheers erupted from outside as a young boy dashed into the room like a whirlwind.
