Chapter 48
Cold Showers
JAYDA
Jayda looked at her office door and was surprised to see Sebastian, looking devilishly handsome as always.
Jayda welcomed him with a hug and a passionate kiss. No matter how many times she saw him, she was always thrilled.
âI was actually not expecting you, but Iâm happy youâre here. I thought we would be meeting at the hospital.â
Sebastian caressed her cheek. âI thought so too but changed my mind. Itâs better we go in one car than different cars. That way, I can spend more time with you.â
âYouâre becoming so clingy,â Jayda teased.
Sebastian shrugged with a shy smile on his face. âI canât help it.â
Sheâd teased him, but she felt exactly the same way.
The drive to the hospital was short, but they chatted the entire way. She was so lucky to have a handsome man she could also talk to about anything. They discussed their jobs and told jokes to each other. Being with him was like being with a best friend.
âAre you excited?â Jayda asked while they waited in the ultrasound room, even though she could see the excitement all over his face.
âVery excited. I hope my heart doesnât explode with so much happiness.â He grinned.
When Dr. Davis came in, she greeted them both and got Jayda set up for the ultrasound.
Jayda squirmed when Dr. Davis applied some gel on her bump. Sheâd actually forgotten how cold it was.
Dr. Davis placed the wand on Jaydaâs belly and after a while, an object appeared on the monitor. She explained everything they needed to know.
âAnd this is your little miracle.â She pointed to the monitor.
âAre you both ready to know the gender?â Dr. Davis asked the excited soon-to-be parents.
Jayda nodded.
âYes, please,â Sebastian added with his fingers intertwined with Jaydaâs.
After carefully studying the monitor, Dr. Davis turned to Sebastian and Jayda with a wide grin.
âCongratulations! Itâs a girl.â
Happy tears rolled down Jaydaâs cheeks. In only a few months sheâd hold her baby girl in her arms. The precious little miracle she and Sebastian had created.
She couldnât wait to tell Aaron that he was right all along; his baby sister would be with him in a few months.
SEBASTIAN
Sebastian was choked up and overwhelmed. He wiped off Jaydaâs happy tears with his thumb and whispered in her ear. âWe are having a mini-Jayda!â he said proudly.
âIâve never imagined myself being a mother to a precious baby girl, and now when I envision it, I canât help but tear up.â She sniffed.
âShe will look just like you. She will have your eyes, hair color, your great personality, and your kind heart. She will also be a genius like her mom, and most importantly, she will have me and Aaron wrapped around her fingers.â
Jayda smiled. âShe can take everything from me, but I want her to have your and Aaronâs beautiful eyes.â
âI have no problem with that. Thank you for adding colors and meaning to my life. I promise to love you and our children forever. Youâre amazing with Aaron, and youâll do just great with our baby girl,â Sebastian assured her.
âI love you, Sebastian.â
âAnd I love you more, babe.â He kissed her forehead.
Dr. Davis tried not to cry as she watched their beautiful interaction. She gave them copies of their new ultrasound picture.
âYour baby girl is healthy, and I have no doubt you will enjoy the rest of your pregnancy. Iâll see you at your next appointment, but until then, keep on taking care of yourself. And ~you~ keep taking such good care of her,â the doctor told Sebastian.
âI will,â he promised. âDoctor, will it be okay for us to take our vacation?â
âYes, if you go now and donât wait. Soon enough, Jayda wonât be able to travel by plane and will be too uncomfortable. Go and have a good time before your baby comes. Once your little girl is here, youâll have your hands full,â Dr. Davis told them with a knowing grin.
As soon as they got into the car, Sebastian leaned against the headrest and exhaled. âI canât believe it! A baby girl.â He smiled at Jayda.
JAYDA
Jayda laughed softly and shook her head. âMy pregnancy just seemed real today! I never thought Iâd have a girl for a firstborn, but Iâm thrilled. She has me, you, Aaron, and our families to protect her and shower her with so much love. Sheâs blessed.â Jayda caressed her bump.
Sebastian placed his hand on Jaydaâs own. âI love you so much.â He said sincerely with adoration in his eyes.
Jayda leaned closer to Seb and kissed him. âWe love you too, babe. I canât wait to tell Lilian!â
Her best friend would be as excited for her as Jayda was herself. She frowned, thinking about Lilian. It had been a few weeks since Jayda had heard from her. Sheâd been so busy that she almost hadnât noticed.
âWhatâs wrong?â Sebastian asked immediately when he saw her frown. He rubbed his hand over her belly. âIs it the baby?â
Jayda shook her head. âNo, my love. I just realized I havenât heard from Lily, and I hope nothing is wrong with her.â
She would have to find out what was going on as soon as she got home from their trip.
