Chapter 47
Cold Showers
SEBASTIAN
When the party was over, Jayda and Sebastian returned to his apartment, where she would be spending the night. He carried her across the threshold and settled her gently onto her feet in his bedroom.
âI have one more thing to show you,â he said with a glint in his gaze.
âSebby, youâve done too much already! No more gifts!â Jayda pouted.
Sebastian chuckled and raised his hands in defense. âItâs not a gift per se. Itâs something for the two of us.â
âOkay?â Jayda sounded unsure as she took a seat on the sofa in his room.
Sebastian took a brown envelope out of his drawer and handed it to her as he sat down next to her.
Inside were some documents along with physical keys and keycards.
Sebastian had bought a house for them to share.
âI donât like the idea of us being apart anymore, so I bought a home for us. You are the last person I want to see before I go to bed and the first person I want to lay my eyes on when I wake up. The location is beautiful and peaceful, and itâs about fifteen minutes' drive to your office.â
Sebastian took out his phone and showed Jayda pictures of the beautiful house, perfect for a family of four.
âAaron will be spending weekdays with his mother and weekends with me, so he will have his own room. Will you please move in with us?â His eyes pleaded with her.
JAYDA
Jayda took a glance at Sebastian and looked back at the documents and keys on her lap. How could she say ~no~ to such an offer?
âOf course. Thereâs nothing Iâd love more than to share a home with you and our children.â Jayda kissed him.
Jayda returned the documents and keys to the brown envelope and set it aside. Sheâd been craving him all night, and she knew of the perfect way to thank him for making her day and her entire life so special.
She leaned closer to him and whispered in his ear. âLetâs go make love in the shower.â
âYour wish is my command, darling.â Sebastian smiled and lifted her in his arms. It was indeed going to be a long night for them.

JAYDA
^A FEW DAYS LATER^
Jayda was totally in awe when she stepped into her office on a Monday morning. Someone that didnât work in the firm would mistake her office for a gift and flower shop.
There was no space for her to work on her desk because it was covered with cakes and flowers, and her sofa was filled with gift bags.
Jayda found a place to put her handbag and laptop bag, and she called her secretary for help.
Smiling widely, Anna walked into Jaydaâs office.
âAnna, why?â Jayda pointed to the gifts. âMy birthday was two days ago.â
âA few came from your clients, some came from colleagues, and the rest came from all the interns in this firm. Mine is also there.â Anna finished with another grin.
Jayda face-palmed. She wondered how she was going to call them all to thank them for their kind gestures.
âI heard about your engagement too. Congratulations!â Anna beamed.
âOkay, that was meant to be private, how did you know?â Jayda folded her arms with a smile playing on her lips.
âIâm pretty close to Olivia, so she told me about her brotherâs plan to surprise you on your birthday. And then I saw the ring on your finger when you passed by my office earlier. Congratulations, Jayda, Iâm so happy for you.â
Jayda gestured for Anna to come closer, and when she did, she pulled Anna into a hug. Some lawyers liked to keep a distance between them and their staff, but Jayda and Anna had worked together for so long that Anna was much like a younger sister to her.
Looking at the pile of gifts, Jayda sighed. âYouâll help me out with the names of people that sent all of these so I can thank them. Also, send a message to all the interns that sent me gifts to see me in my office by 2 p.m. so I can thank them personally.â
Anna nodded.
âThis will take me all day,â Jayda playfully complained. âAnd Iâm leaving early for my doctor's appointment, so weâd better get to work.â
She and Sebastian were finally going to find out their babyâs gender.
Jayda was pretty excited about it. She would be able to shop properly for her son or daughter and could even start decorating the nursery. The new house was totally undecorated, waiting for her personal touches, and she was looking forward to making it a home to make her soon-to-be husband proud.
Once they moved in, it would truly be the start of their new life together.
For now, she was counting the minutes until she could leave the office and find out what little one would be joining them in a few months. She and Anna worked hard to clear the office, and Jayda finally settled at her desk to get some work done.
Before she could, a knock at her door startled her.
