-

"no no no you're doing it all wrong," billie laughed as she moved my fingers that were struggling to strum her ukulele.

"what how?" i furrowed my eyebrows. "you said c chord d chord g chord-"

"right and you're strumming a chord c chord and f chord," she laughed.

"fuck this," i gave the ukulele back. "i knew i should've just asked you to teach me piano."

"cmon let's try again," she chuckled, handing the ukulele back to me.

"nope i'm good," i gave it back to her, and got up from the chair. "i rather just listen to you play it."

i then heard a ding coming from my phone, letting me know i had got an email. i quickly grabbed my phone to check it. but i was disappointed at the sight.

"what's wrong?" billie furrowed her eyebrows.

"huh? oh i'm just.. sick of getting hospital bills," i chuckled, not looking at her.

"here just let me pay-"

"girl no," i laughed, shaking my head.

"okay let's go half-"

"billie no," i chuckled. "i got it."

she playfully rolled her eyes. "booo don't be like that."

"we already go half on the bills in this house," i started. "i think i can handle my medical stuff honey."

"us going half on the house is totally different then-"

"okay all this talk about bills is gonna drive me nuts," i put my hair into a ponytail.

"well think about it like this," she started as she walked up to me. "soon we'll be on the road so you won't have to worry about bills," she shrugged with a smile.

i playfully rolled my eyes and turned around. "i know i know," i giggled. "don't you wanna make breakfast?"

"isn't it your turn?" she furrowed her eyebrows.

"since when do we take turns?" i tilted my head.

"oh right because you never make breakfast-"

"oh alright alright never mind i'll make it," i laughed. "but only for me," i teased as i started to walk out the room.

"if i don't see a fully loaded breakfast burrito within the next 30 minutes someone's gonna be in trouble," b chuckled.

"oh? what kinda trouble?" i peaked my head back in. "because i like trouble."

"i'm sure you do," billie laughed. "nasty ass."

"right yeah so what kinda trouble we talking about?" i asked again as i walked up to her.

"the kind where you need to go make my burrito," she laughed.

then i just fell on top of her, putting all my weight on her on purpose and having us both fall on the bed.

"lani get off," she laughed.

"nooooo," i dragged.

she then flipped me over and pinned me to the bed. "you really wanna do this now?"

"yes," i bit my lip. "i really do."

then we heard the front door open.

"the queen has arrived," margie yelled.

"fuck," billie and i mumbled as she got off of me and pulled me up.

i walked into the living area where margie was setting her purse down on the coffee table.

"sometimes i really regret giving you a key to our house," i sighed.

"too bad cause i'm not giving it back," she said with a grin. "y'all put me through too much stress in the past to not be able to come in this hoe when i wanna."

"oh we didn't put you through that much," i joked.

margie squinted. "sure. whatever you gotta say to make the guilt go away."

i playfully rolled my eyes. "fuck off," i chuckled as i walked to the fridge and opened it. "so what's up?"

"i came so we can discuss some more modeling opportunities."

"you couldn't do that shit through facetime?" billie said with a slight attitude as she walked into the living area too.

"okay were y'all about to fuck or some?" margie furrowed her eyebrows.

"yes!" we both exclaimed.

margie tried to hold back her laugh. "well go ahead," she shrugged. "wouldn't be the first time i heard it."

billie and i just stood there with a blank face.

"so who wants a burrito?" i asked, changing the subject.

"me," her and margie said at the same time.

-

oh hey??? nice to see you guys again???

been awhile right? i should catch you up?

k cool. so here's the tea:

let's see, it's been a little over a year since i was released from the hospital. billie and i have been living in hawaii ever since as spouses.

she put a pause on her career to be out here with me. because yes, i was released but since my case was damn near fatal, i was basically told that the next year would be crucial for my health so i had to be very careful.

there was recovery to be done considering how weak my body was from the illness and the treatment. but billie stayed and helped me through it, along with margie, riley, and my family.

because i'm in remission, i still get checkups every now and then but other than that, my health is finally back to "normal" so i'm allowed to start back working now which is great.

i also made a post on social media, letting people know about my condition and the struggles i went through. i received nothing but support and positive messages so that's great.

and while i'm seeking out modeling opportunities at the moment, i'm starting off with being an interviewer in the hawaii swim week (HSW) event going on this week. it's in oahu though so we have to fly to get there since we're working with islands here.

the people of HSW wanted me to walk the runway but my doctors told me that i couldn't walk in heels yet til like a month so they agreed to let me interview other models while on the red carpet which is cool.

"so," billie started. "you ready for this week?"

"nervous actually," i pushed my hair behind my ear. "but i'm glad you'll be there with me," i smiled at her.

"i couldn't be more excited and happy for you baby girl," she caressed my cheek with her thumb.

"oh spare me," margie rolled her eyes.

billie and i started laughing as i started cooking.

- days later -

margie yelled "trucks here! let's go!"

"okay okay," i said in lowkey a panic.

the car service that was taking us to the airport was finally here so it was time for us to go so we could make it to oahu on time.

billie grabbed my suitcases and took them outside to load in the truck. margie then came in my bedroom where i was panicking.

"lei cmon we don't need to miss this flight," she fussed.

"i know i know, i just need to decide which sneakers-"

"those," margie pointed. "now let's go."

i groaned before getting up and walking out of the house. as we were walking to the suv parked outside my house, margie stopped in front of me and faced me, causing me to stop in my tracks. billie was already in the truck.

"so have you heard anything?" marg asked me.

"nope," i shook my head before looking down in disappointment.

she sighed. "don't lose hope lani."

"yeah yeah yeah," i shrugged. "cmon let's go."

we hopped in the suv and rode to the airport where the personal plane was waiting on us.

we soon arrived to oahu and got off the plane, getting a ride to our hotel rooms. this time, instead of me staying with other models, i requested that they give me a suite where it can just be me, billie, and margie.

i learned my lesson last time.

we got to our room and i immediately dropped my bags and plopped on the bed, letting out a huge sigh.

after we settled in, all 3 of us ordered food to the room, chilled on the couch, and watch tv. but at one point, billie just kept looking at me with that sweet smile of hers.

"what b?" i giggled.

"nothing, i just married the most beautiful girl in the world."

i blushed and looked down. "and so did i," i said as i held her hand.

"oh ew cmon can y'all do that shit when i'm not right here?" margie joked. "i wanna keep my appetite if you don't mind."

billie and i laughed and we just all continued to chill out for awhile.

"we going to the welcome party tonight?" margie looked at me.

"i don't know i kinda don't wanna go," i shrugged. "im too nervous."

"you?" billie looked at me. "nervous to party?"

i chuckled. "the last social event i attended was our wedding," i started. "i feel like being isolated with recovery for so long gave me a little social anxiety."

"no that's totally valid cause i kinda feel the same way," billie nodded.

"but marg if you wanna go then you definitely should," i said. "don't let us hold you back."

"party without my two favorite people?" she furrowed her eyebrows. "i almost laughed."

"wow i love us," i laughed.

- the next day -

"rise and shineee," margie said as she busted in billie and i's room and opened the window curtains, allowing the beaming sun in.

"oh my god," i groaned. "no, go away."

"what you need? 5 more minutes?" she asked me.

"5 more hours."

"oh bitch get up," she laughed.

"cmon baby," billie said as she rose up.

"do i have to?" i said in a whiny tone.

"yes my love," she caressed my cheek with her thumb. "you have to. now cmon."

we got up, got dressed, and headed down to the venue.

when we made it there, billie, margie, and i walked the red carpet. billie wore this :

hot as ever.

however, after we walked the carpet, i had to stay and stand to the side to start interviewing. meanwhile, billie and margie were getting ready to walk inside to go take their seats for the show.

"knock 'em out baby," b said as she kissed my cheek.

"thank you baby," i grinned at her.

"marg and i will be watching the livestream on our phones so we can see you," she smiled as they walked away.

that just makes me more anxious.

so yeah clearly i was very nervous to be back on the scene, especially since i had to be the one asking questions rather than answering them.

it was honestly weird but i made do. some models and designers were expressing how happy they were to see me again and how they were excited for me start back modeling so that really helped.

after awhile, it had been a couple minutes since i had interviewed anybody so the camera man and i were just having random conversations to past time.

but then he said "oh your next interviewee is approaching," he gestured with his head so i could look behind me.

i turned around and my eyes damn near fell out my head.

"well hello, mrs. o'connell," amelia smirked.
