Standing at the door, Gong Lu saw her crouching there as if she was a thief.

“So Brother Lu is always like this when you’re with my brother? Brother Lu, you’re biased. I want to see you acting coquettishly too.” Yan Qingqing winked at him in a teasing manner.

Gong Lu was startled. He closed the door with a bang and lowered his voice to complain to Yan Zhengchen, “Why is Qingqing outside?”

“She was the one who delivered your Japanese food,” Yan Zhengchen replied matter-of-factly.

“Shut up. Don’t you know what I look like now?” Gong Lu, who had always been disciplined and mindful of his image, exploded.

“Haven’t you always looked like this? What are you looking for? The clothes aren’t in that closet. I’ll get them for you.” Yan Zhengchen’s voice continued to sound out in the room.

Thinking of Gong Lu’s panicked expression earlier, Yan Qingqing couldn’t help chuckling. She quietly went downstairs and waited in the dining room.

Fifteen minutes later, Gong Lu opened the door. He was wearing a white shirt and pants, and his hair was neatly combed. He had returned to his usual gentlemanly self.

It was like his wretched state just minutes earlier was just an illusion.

Yan Qingqing smiled at him. “Brother Lu, come and eat.”

Gong Lu nodded and descended the stairs with Yan Zhengchen. They walked to Yan Qingqing’s side and sat down.

Yan Qingqing ate some sushi as well. She suddenly thought of something. “Oh, right. Auntie Gong looked for me previously and asked me to persuade Brother Lu to go on a blind date.”

Gong Lu stopped eating and looked at her. “Why did she approach you for this? Qingqing, sorry to have troubled you. I’ll talk to my mother about this after dinner.”

“I’m fine with it, but Brother Lu, are you still not going to agree? I heard from Auntie Gong that she has already helped you arrange several blind dates. Every single one of the girls is outstanding. Don’t you like them?” Yan Qingqing asked curiously.

Gong Lu lowered his head. “No.”

“You have blind dates? Why didn’t I know?” Yan Zhengchen narrowed his eyes at him.

“I have no intention of meeting them.” Gong Lu’s expression was indifferent as if he didn’t take this matter to heart.

Yan Zhengchen looked upset. His furrowed brows were a sign that he was angry.

“Brother, what’s the matter? This is Brother Lu’s private affair. Why are you so angry?” Yan Qingqing tried to calm him down.

“I’m not angry. If he wants to go on blind dates, so be it. Isn’t that the normal thing to do?” Yan Zhengchen squeezed out the words from between his teeth.

Gong Lu noticed something amiss. He looked at Yan Zhengchen and asked in a dangerous tone, “Do you think that’s normal?”

Yan Zhengchen steeled himself and nodded. “Isn’t it normal to get married and have children…?”

Some of the light in Gong Lu’s eyes faded away. He looked to the side and nodded. “You’re right. It’s indeed normal to get married and have children.”

Yan Zhengchen seemed to have something to say, but in the end, he lowered his head and ate quietly.

Yan Qingqing could feel that the atmosphere between the two of them seemed a little off.

She felt like she had unintentionally done something wrong.

Yan Qingqing’s gaze wandered back and forth between Yan Zhengchen and Gong Lu before she finally finished her meal with them in silence.
