Chapter 6.

I sit bolt upright and rub my eyes. I'm so tired. I slide back the covers and swing my legs out of bed. I have a sudden realisation of what day it is. It's Thursday. Meaning tomorrow is Friday. And we go to Essex on Friday!

I smile to myself and get a flutter of butterflies in my stomach. I grab my phone and plug it into my speakers, clicking on 'downtown' and dancing around as I find an outfit to wear.

I decide on black leggings with an oversized jumper and my knee high boots. I cleanse my face and apply my normal makeup. I curl my hair before heading into the bathroom to brush my teeth.

I head back into my room and turn off my music, unplugging my phone. I click on my camera and add an effect before taking a selfie- because why not?

I grab my bag and jog downstairs. I pop my head into the living room and smile to myself. Archie and Leela are sat together on the floor, both of them glued to the TV screen.

"Morning mum!" I smile.

"Hey Soph!" She says as she makes Archie's pack lunch.

"You okay Soph?" Jason asks, coming in from the garden.

"Yeah I'm good thanks, you?" I reply grabbing myself some breakfast.

"Yeah." He sighs, raising his eyebrows.

I get myself sorted and meet Clara outside. We trudge to school together, the cold air whipping at our faces.

"I didn't realise it was going to be this cold." She stated shivering.

"I know! It's defiantly autumn now." I sigh, wrapping my hands in my scarf.

We arrive at school and head to sixth form tutor. I sit down and check my timetable. Music first- which is good. I tap my fingers on the table until the bell finally rings.

I shove my bag onto my shoulder and jog down the stairs.

"Meet me by the field." Clara calls as she heads into dance.

"Yeah okay!" I call back, making my way to music.

I take a seat in my usual place and reply to my name being called in the register.

"Right, you will just be practicing your two songs for your upcoming exams." My teacher explains, looking around the room.

I stand up, grabbing my bag and heading into the small singular room where my mic was set up.

I plug my phone into the sound system and attach the mic up also. I tap the top of the mic to make sure it's on before turning on my track. The soundtrack for 'never forget you' by mnek and Zara larrson begins to play. I close my eyes and listen to the music.

I used to be so happy but without you here I feel so low,

I watched you as you left but I can never seem to let you go,

Cause once upon a time you were my everything,

It's clear to see that time hasn't changed a thing...

I love this song. It reminds me of what happened with my dad, but I'm not going to explain that.

"That was just beautiful." My teacher smiles, as I open my eyes.

"Thankyou." I say, turning off my music.

"I'd say that if you performed it as you just did, you would get a A. If you wanted to get an A* then I would hit the chorus harder." My teacher explains.

"Okay, can you record it for me?" I ask passing her my phone.

"Yeah sure." She says taking it.

I get the music up on the laptop and perform it again. This time taking on misses corrections.

"Well done!" She says handing me my phone back.

"Thanks." I say collecting my bag.

I make my way up to the field to meet Clara. We both have a free period next so we head over to the benches by the lake and relax. I show her the video of me singing before uploading a snippet of it onto twitter.

We listen to music and get all excited about tomorrow. I roll my phone between my fingers and quickly glance at it as the screen lights up.

I get a sudden rush of butterflies. Before I know it my notifications are flooded by Perri fans.

I mention him in a tweet saying thankyou before I have to go to English. Boring!

"Meet me back here at lunch!" Clara calls.

"Yeah okay!"

I trudge up to English and sit through the life-sucking lesson. Finally the bell goes and I head off to art. I love art.

I pull out my art sketch book and grab a tin of water colour paints and continue with with my flower.

At 1 o'clock the bell goes signifying lunch. Like planned I meet Clara at the benches before we head off down to the village to get lunch.

I only have one lesson after lunch so it goes pretty quickly. I finish a couple of minutes early so I go and wait for Clara outside her lesson.

"Ready to tackle my packing?" I chuckle.

"Yeah! Let's do this!" She says rolling up her sleeves.

I link arms with her and we walk back to my house. I grab my keys out of my bag and unlock the door, stepping inside. We dump our bags by the door and grab a can of vimto each before running upstairs to my room.

"Right, what did we pack in your case yesterday?" I ask, pulling mine out from under my bed.

"Um, too much I think!" She chuckles.

"No, seriously!" I say opening my wardrobe. "What about this?" I say holding a sparkly black dress up against myself.

"That's cute! Deffo catch Perri's attention with that!" She says raising her eyebrows.

"Shush you!" I say shaking my head. "It's for if we go for a meal!"

I drop in into my suitcase along with many other items.

2 hours later and we've finally packed my bag. I slump down onto the floor, exhausted.

"That was tiring!" Clara chuckles.

"Your telling me!" I say heaving myself up. "C'mon.' I say pulling Clara up.

We head downstairs and out into the garden. We decide to go and sit in Archie's treehouse. I clamber up and slump onto the floor, laughing at Clara's attempt to get up.

"Soph, is that your phone?" She nods towards my screen lighting up.

"Yeah." I say picking it up. "It's a message from Perri." I smile.

Dm from Perri: Can't wait to see you again tomorrow!🙊

Clara nudges me in the ribs- I shake my head and reply.

Dm to Perri: I can't wait to come down! Looking forward to it 🙈

"What?!" I say looking at Clara.

"You two are totes flirting..."

"Shut up!" I chuckle.

Tomorrow is going to be the start of a great weekend!
