Chapter 14.

I wake up and rub my tired eyes. I grab my phone checking the time and groaning. 7:30am! On a Sunday.

I roll over and snuggle back under the covers. I find a comfy position and sigh into the pillow.

Within seconds Leela begins screaming at the top of her lungs. Great! Looks like I'm not going back to sleep.

I sit upright, swing my legs over the side of my bed and stand up. I wrap my dressing gown around myself and trudge downstairs.

"Morning, tired?" Jason laughs, looking at the state of my face.

"Just a bit." I say slumping into the sofas cushions.

I change to channel from the news onto Gogglebox, the one I missed last night.

"What time are you going out?" My mum says rocking Leela.

"11am." I say checking the time.

I grab myself some food and a drink before heading back up to my room. I finish off my breakfast and place the empty dishes on the side.

I heave myself up and head over to my wardrobe, flicking through my clothes. I decide on my black, high waisted jeans, black lace crop top and a burgundy cardigan. Along with my adidas superstars in black with white stripes.

"Right, I'm off." I say, popping my head around the living room door.

"Okay sweetie, have fun." My mum smiles. "Say hi to Clara for me."

"Will do, see you later."

I exit the house and begin walking down the street towards town. My phone begins ringing in my pocket. I pull it out and smile down at the screen.

'Why hello!' I say down the phone.

'Wassup curly?!' Pel's voice says cheerfully.

'Actually my hair is straight today for your information!' I chuckle. 'And just off to meet Clara, you?'

'Oh sorry, and nothing- just down the studio.'

'Ah I-'

I start to walk across the road when a firm object rams into my side. I fall onto the hard concrete in a heap, my phone flying out of my hand.

'Sophia?'

'Soph, what's happened?!'

Perri's POV:

'Sophia? What's just happened?!'

No answer.

I heard a screech of wheels and then a clatter that I expect was her phone.

'SOPHIA?!' I shout down the phone.

Nothing.

I rush up to the chill out area, the worst feeling filling my stomach.

"Pel, what's wrong?" Jordan asks.

"Sophia!" I stutter.

"What about her?" He says shaking his head.

"I, I was talking to her on the phone, then I heard a screech of wheels and then she never answered me on the phone. We were talking, then nothing."

"Perri! Calm." Jordan says standing up.

"I need to go and see if she's okay." I panic, searching for my car keys.

"Mate, it's going to take you too long, where was she going?"

"To meet Clara." I say quickly. "SAM!" I call down the stairs.

"Yeah?!" He calls back.

I rush down the stairs and over to him.

"Call Clara." I say urgently.

"What, why?" He says fumbling for his phone.

"Sophia, I think she's been hurt, she was meeting Clara, call her!" I plea.

He calls her and passes the phone over to me. I explain everything and she keeps me on the phone the whole time she's looking for her.

'Omg...' She breathes down the phone.

The phone is on loudspeaker and everyone leans closer to the phone to hear her.

'Clara? What's happened?' I say firmly.

'Perri... She's been hit by a car...'

Them words make my blood run cold. My worst fears were coming true.

'Pel I've got to go.' She says.

'No cla-'

She cuts the call off. No. This cannot be happening.

Sophia's POV:

A sharp pain rushes from my legs all the way to my chest. I just lie there, I can't move.

People rush around me, but for me it's like time has stopped. I squeeze my eyes together as I try to move- but the pain is unbearable.

"Sophia!"

I recognise that voice. Who is it? Clara! It's Clara.

"Move out of my way! That's my friend." I hear her shout.

I lie there for what seems like forever. I seem to be frozen in time. What actually happened?

"It's going to be okay." Clara says stroking my hair. "Your going to be taken to the hospital now."

I can't remember anything else.

Perri's POV:

"Perri where are you going?" Jordan calls after me.

"To Sophia!" I shout turning around. "I need to see her." I say quietly.

"It's too far, but Clara's with her, and she's getting the help that she needs." Jordan says.

"I don't care, why should I just sit around here waiting for news when I could be down there... Looking after her." I say choking up.

"Go Perri." Ashley says. "We know you care about her."

"Thankyou." I say running out of the studio.

I jump into my car and speed out of the carpark.

Sophia's POV:

I can hear people talking, but my eyes are closed shut. I drag a heavy arm up and remove a mask from my mouth.

"Sophia?!" I hear a relieved voice say.

I open my matted eyes and adjust to the blinding lights. I turn my head slowly to face the voice.

"Perri?!" I say in a croaky voice.

"How are you feeling?" He says looking sympathetic.

"I don't really know." I sigh. "Do you know what happened?" I say closing my eyes as my head starts to pound.

"Yeah. You were on the phone to me making your way to meet Clara, but then as you were crossing the road- a car sped up and smacked into you. You were still on the phone to me at the time but you never answered." He says taking a breath. "So I called Clara off Sams phone and that is what happened and how I got here."

"Oh." Was the only thing I could manage to say.

"Look Sophia, I have something to tell you before Clara comes in..."

"What is it?" I say turning to face him.

"SOPHIA! Your awake!" Clara beams running over.

"Yeah!" I say giving a small chuckle.

I look over at Perri who looks alittle disappointed. He looks down at his feet and fumbles with his fingers.

"Do you want a drink, you look a bit thirsty?" Clara asks.

"Yes please." I smile.

She leaves the room and I look at Perri. He lifts his head and I give him a small smile.

"What did you want to tell me?" I asks.

"I just wanted to say, that ever since me and the boys came to your school I've wanted to get to know you better. What has happened today has made me realised how much I care about you..."

I can't believe what he's saying. This is so surreal. I don't know how to react.

"Per-"

He leans forward and plants a soft kiss on my forehead.
