“The management of our family’s inner courtyard naturally falls to me,” Ye Muyu stated unequivocally. She had no intention of earning silver at the front only to have the household erupt in chaos at the back. She was always fair to the servants, but rules had to be upheld nonetheless.

After all, the residence operated on a shift system, which meant that when they weren’t required to work, the time belonged to themselves.

Once they left the residence, she wouldn’t constrain them as long as they didn’t misuse the residence’s name to do wrong.

“Since Aunt Lin failed to abide, in accordance with the family rules, the penalty will be a tael of silver,” Ye Muyu declared. In fact, there really were extensive family rules, detailed thoroughly in a substantial volume.

Since the servants were illiterate, she had the housekeeper read it aloud to everyone.

Lin Mianmian had a copy of the family rules too.

Her words caused a slight tremor to run through the servants in the courtyard.

Immediately, servants came forward and escorted Lin Mianmian back to her quarters.

Completely disregarding her protests.

It was just time for a meal, and Ye Muyu instructed, “Later, bring the two of them here, one after the other.”

“As you wish, my lady,” Su Mei replied and withdrew.

Ye Muyu first helped the two children to a bun.

Then she felt a gaze upon her from beside her.
